View Full Version : New Calling All Guilds Fourth Quarterly And Guild Match-up Listings

Hey folks-

I don't know where Aargos is yet, so I'll get this thing rolling since we have a lack of activity at the moment anyway. This is the New Calling All Guilds Quarterly and marks a successful year of maintaining the Argonnessen Forums in tip-top shape. Aargos is going to make some more changes to make it even more functional and relevant, so stay-tuned for that! The current sticky will drop whenever he posts his and manages its sticky. Also, Tavok requested to have the former Mabar sticky removed, but nothing has come of it yet. I've made a request too, stating that he was 100% OK with that sticky's removal. We'll keep badgering moderators until we find one willing to take two seconds and remove the old sticky.

I've three main issues to address in this Calling. The first is standard.

1. Post your Current Info, including Guild Activity Size, any new updates, any moves in manning or alliances, and in general any update to make your guild stand out and be more unique. I try to write different positive things about each of your guilds based on what you give me to work with (and also experience, when positive, with your guild in-game). So let's get those posts rolling!

2. If you haven't taken a look at the Guild Matchup Forum, I did make an attempt to have guilds do a similar Calling Guild Matchup to get that listing started. I thank the few guilds (Argonnessen, hoo-rah!) that actually posted. I'm going to microsize this attempt in order to generate content and create an eddy current that all the other servers (and active forum guilds) will gravitate towards. This will require your help -- I can count on Argonnessen to do it though, so that's why I'm asking. Below is my original post, quoted:

Greetings All-

We've got nearly every server on-board for the guildlistings revamps. This listing in the Guild Matchup will be a bare-bones structure used for players to locate guild-types/time zones that fit their needs. Specifics will still be available on the server's actively-maintained guildlistings on the Server Forums.

Please throw your info down here. I will also be pulling info off of Actively-Maintained Guildlists from the Servers, but that info will be incomplete until you submit here or via PM. The format to Chime In your guild's info is here.

Also, if you have a Guild Matchup Thread that you continuously update, please provide the link to that specific thread in the Guild Matchup so I can quick-link that to your Guild's Name for web-browsing ease of new players to check out your promotionals/recruiting, events, etc. An excellent example is Mr_Ed7's Darkside Thread (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=120582) Way to go man -- I like the way you did it this time. ;)

My Proposal for the Guild Matchup will be something like this:

Alpha-Numeric Listing: 0-9, A-Z (indefinite articles moved to end of Guild Name, ie a, the, an, these, this, of, etc.)

Guild Name: Relics of the Last War, The *New!*
Server Listing: Argonnessen Guildlistings (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=65411)
Guild Leader: Kistilan (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?find=lastposter&t=65411)
Guild Catergory: Explorers
Guild Type: Experimental, Master/Apprentice, Innovative Game Play
Guild Time Zone: Weekends EST Dusk to Dawn & Week Days EST Mornings
Guild Slogan: "We are but Shadows and Dust." (1-Liner Summarizing Guild Here)

*Note* I will link the Guild's Name to their "Guild Promotional Thread" that will be somewhere in the Guild Matchup. That way they can update current recruiting and matchup information as required, plus we eliminate multi-threadism. Relics of the Last War currently does not have one as we're not promoting anything for our guild at this time. *L*

Guild Time Zone: State the primary location of guild members and the times they play ie CST, Oceanic, EST, GST, PST, GMT; and the times Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Dusk to Dawn, Random, Weekends, Weekdays, Holidays, etc.

Can you guys/gals provide this Guild Matchup info in your Chime-In on this post? And if you haven't made a PR Thread over there, go ahead and make one for your guild!!! (Silver Dragons and Dark Side totally have this arte down). The best thing about it is it's a living, breathing, evolving charter of your guild! It's a great way to set the standard and keep fishing-for-guildies posts off the server forums where it tends to set (at least Argonnessen's community) people into controversial-motives mode. Also note that the GUILD TYPE is very important! I'm going to list alphanumerically but also group by GUILD TYPE, then alphanumerically. The main guild catergories are below:

Guild Catergories:

Power-Gamers: Power Gamer, Min/Max, Tactical/Strategic, Raid-Oriented.
Role Players: Role-Play. Perma-Death. Etc.
Specialists: Race-Only (DDO Races). Class-Only (DDO Classes). Military-Only. Language/Nationality-Centric ie "French." Region/Country-Centric ie "Australian/England/The Brits' Isles."
Socialites: G/PG. PG-13. R. NC17/Adults-Only. Family-Oriented. Just Friends.
Explorers: Casual. Innovative Game Play. Experimental. Master/Apprentice.

3. I should be gone soon. My TSSC Interview and Finger Printing is tomorrow 0830! I'm assuming Aargos is taking control of this and the Guild Matchup I'm working on will be fine until I'm back after March 13, 2008. If something has happened to prevent him from taking over the Argonnessen Guild Listings I will be looking for someone else ASAP with excellent grammatical, spelling and organizational skills. You also have to be willing to suck it up every month and do updates and quarterlies or some system of similar use -- oh the joy! We'll see -- by the end of October if nothing has changed, then I'll see about taking on another offer.

That's all I've got for you dragonkin. Stay sharp.
Remember if you can't be good, be good at it.

Relics of the Last War is accounted for as is The House of Stormrune, which has been removed due to its reformation as a LOTRO-Only House. Relics is currently looking for 2 new apprentices. Stormrune is currently recruiting military-only on the Elendilmir server for LOTRO.

Shriners Anonymous
http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=95458&TabID=818680
Activity: 20-29 Active Members
Contact: Leibolmai, Gurgzog, Riddik, Kip, Fifthdc, Wintermute, Gith and Mirth; or just hang out at a shrine -- a shriner will be by soon!
Notes: Small guild with many oldstyle D&D players from the "Chainmail" era of D&D. Low-drama, fun-loving, mature, cooperative gaming. Shriners Anonymous is not particularly end-game or raid-oriented (well, except for a couple of us;) ). They are allied with The Order of the Silver Dragons.

Tinted Faces
Massive active population, averaging 20 or so players online at peak times, and rarely less than 5 or 6 online at any given time.
tintedfaces.net (http://www.tintedfaces.net)
Usually highly active in raiding content and often different groups available for all levels at all times.
The Tinted Faces is a family atmosphere focused on improving our own playing as well as the rest of the guild.
I'd consider us primarily in the powergamer/raiding category.

I'm going to make a very succinct summarization for you who missed a thing or two. I realized I left out important info too.

1. Aargos IS taking the guildlistings over (he wrote) and this Calling All Guilds Thread is used to ADD OR REMOVE guilds. Post your guild if you want to be added or continue to be on the listings. Removal occurs after the close-out and you've not chimed in with anything at all (even just your name).

2. The requested information format is as follows for both purposes, these guildlistings AND the Guild Match-up to help me out.

Guild Name: This is your Guild's Name... Very hard to screw this up.
Server Listing: The Server You're On Here (there are only 5 possible choices... you can't screw this up... and this is for anyone not from Argonnessen that feels it's necessary to post their guild in this thread  )
Guild Leader: Your Leader's Name Here... pretty hard to mess this up too.
Guild Contacts: Officers, Forum-Names, Recruiters in your Guild, etc
Guild Website: Your Site, Board, or Forum here.
*NEW* Guild Catergory: See Catergories BELOW
*NEW* Guild Type: See Guild Types BELOW
*NEW* Guild Time Zone: See Time Zone Guide BELOW
*NEW* Guild Slogan: Pick something or make something up. Quote anything. Not an entire song, soliloquy or monologue please.
Notes: Additional Info here about your guild. Not too much please!
*NEW* Guild Match-up Public Relatons Page: Make a thread for your guild on the Guild Match-up and update it. It'll get linked to your Guild Matchup Listing.

Guild Catergories: Guild Types

Power-Gamers: Power Gamer, Min/Max, Tactical/Strategic, Raid-Oriented.
Role Players: Role-Play. Perma-Death. Etc.

Socialites: G/PG. PG-13. R. NC17/Adults-Only. Family-Oriented. Just Friends. Player Versus Player (PVP). Urban. Suburban. Rural.
Explorers: Casual. Innovative Game Play. Experimental. Master/Apprentice.

Hail and well met
I have returned to the world of Eberron.
Disturbances in the outer realms have kept me away these last few weeks.

Thank you to Mantis, Shimna and Kistilan for the work they have done to keep this listing alive. I hope to uphold this fine service to the Argonnessen community.

Just a reminder, the Calling All Guilds chimes (even if it's minimal because your info needs no updating, although in this one nearly everyone is encouraged to supply the new info) reflect that your guild is indeed alive and well (and not removed from the list!)

OK, I've got the guild listing under control.

I'm not on the board as much as most of you, but am on enough to keep a quarter listing up to date.

Right now I have 10 guilds that have submitted.

Prophets of Velah
Ransacked
Semper Fidelis

So let's clarify everything listed in your CGMG Guild Listing before I get schwacked for something. Aargos also is not involved in this thread, for future reference, and is only taking over the Argonnessen Forums Guildlisitngs. This was a duel-post for 2 Guildlistings. I'm sorry if you didn't understand that, as it may not have been clearly stated.

First, your guild site is only represented on the Server Guildlistings. The CGMG does not list Guild Websites, Proboards, E-Boards, Ventrilos, Teamspeaks, or anything of such nature. The only links that will ever be listed in the CGMG as of now will be direct-thread links to DDO Threads for said guild. I am encouraging that these threads be of the following nature:

1. On the Guild Matchup Forum or
2. On the Home Server Forum of said guild

Next, the Just Friends, R/NC-17, Heralds of Learning, Raiders and Loot-Mongers are indeed supported by your original post. The Categorical Listings has been updated nearly 50 times on options since you posted. There are new categories and much-more defined categories. I am working on the defintions now. I will remove you from these categories as it is your wish, but I gleaned the types from your original post and adjusted it to fit the 50-new-formats I've introduced since your original post. I was trying to look out for you. I'll remove those guild types until you say something else.

Lastly, I cannot believe you are making a qualm about this, but from Dusk til Dawn summarizes the hours you stated you play on Weekends (ALL HOURS). I will remove this and let you decide what new Categorical Hour you fall under at a later date.

Please PM me when you decide on any changes involving your listing in the CGMG. It takes some time to reply because I have a life and don't sit at the computer 24/7. I cannot help it when things go wrong in your opinion and am not there to fix it.

I noted changes and offered corrections using the new formats. PoV is grateful that you are putting this guide together for all DDO Forum goers, and I did not mean to offend. Now that I reexamine the other guild listings, I see that it provides links to DDO Forums recruitment posts. That is my mistake. :o I'll have to get on our fearless leader to do a forum post for the guild so that you can link it. :)

Friendly/friendships != Just Friends
R != NC-17 (you did before and still have this as two separate categories)
Social <anything> != <...> Mongers
All Hours != Dusk til Dawn (Night time)

There is nothing wrong with guilds having any of those formats, but it is not what PoV is all about. And I'd hate to give an incorrect first impression to people looking for a guild. All corrections are listed in my previous post as meeting your current format/definitions. If you change them again, I'll probably ask you to update our listing again. :)

Friendly/friendships != Just Friends (Yep, this type covers all that ie "we're just friends." Exclusive guilds ie *just my friends from school* go under different types in the Specialists Category)
R != NC-17 (you did before and still have this as two separate categories) Nah, they are together... Still are as far as I can see
Social <anything> != <...> Mongers It was based on your guild descriptor.
All Hours != Dusk til Dawn (Night time) True. I didn't update this one again. I made several new time category types since the Dusk til Dawn category type. There are a few that are better now. Go ahead and select from them, although defintions for many things are coming.

No worries. I have to be like this now. It's not meant to appear mean, but I have to act this way. Business only. Someone threw a fit last time I tried to laugh a little.
