View Full Version : Sorc thoughts on mod 5, higher content

Disintigrate, maxxed, has been my friend with the flesh golems....one max and he is mostly dead.

flesh to stone really helps with the 'turn into undead' upon death guys.

fod has been great against the wind elementals.

Flesh to stone has been great against the wheeps..have not tried it on the quells though.

monsters seem faster, so a nice solid fog before the firewal is needed.

I am going to pick up acid fog and use that to see..just to many skellies and stuff immune to fire...and I want to try on undead beholder.

disintigrate magic missile and force missle on the beholder...and stone to flesh the mobs with him.

have not used sommand undead much except on wraiths and specters (hate them that much) but it has been effective.

I am specced with the best spellpen and only carry max..so I seem to be able to land the spells well and my fire maxxed with potency, lore, and efficay items seem to be working good.

I forgot to change loot to random until I did the last dungeon...got poor loot on my sorc until then....then on the last run I pulled a +3 adamantine bastard sword of greater undead bane.....whoo hooo

no magic items of 200 points yet though.

Does disintegrate work on the golems on elite? I was considering respecing to that but they seem to make a lot of glitter/web saves on elite so didn't know if it would be worth it.

yep....did fleshmakers elite...

heighten is always on with my sorc and that helps.
having an item for a spell helps too (enchantment, conj, etc..)

they did make a save, but not like crazy saves..

forget that bottom area optionals...wooo.on elite, first time we actually went in there...complete an utter wipe with all the flesh golems, elec traps, and the healing of them.....i know there is a chest in there, but we were unprepared for what happened....holy moly on elite the drop down optional was deadly.

Yea that ones fun, beat it first try on elite. Good chest.

Trick for casters there is just not attack the flesh golems and try to stay alive because they will constantly follow you. Best spell to cast there is web, works well and helps the melees take them down. Also, bring a good rogue.

After running Vol a couple times...

I respec'd my sorc with the full Fire/Ice load out, and 3 levels of Maximize. Firewall and scorching ray never hit so hard. Also, swapped Disintegrate back in.

With a Superior Potency 6 scepter, Greater arcane lore, and Maximize, disintegrate hits hard. Blackbones and Flesh Golems "1 shot" constantly.

Flesh to Stone continues to be an AWESOME spell.

Wow, I am really paying for multi-classing (currently 11 sorcerer/2 paladin). I need disintegrate and I will be OK. I was already a fire bug, and I memmed Web and Burning Blood. Went and got that iron hook (what is it called?) from the Tor so I'd I have a good acid item.

I'm not using P/K nearly as much as before but it is still useful... and against golems I'm doing crowd control and then fighting with my transmuter sword. Unless we're on elite in which case I can't hit them. :)

Disintegrate would easily have to be the most useful spell in Mod 5 for me.

With sup pot 6, greenblade (for 9% crit chance on all spells, inc disint. i know alot of ppl wont have this unfortuantly) empower and max. My Disintegrate will hit for around 500-530 if not saved, and 900-930 if it crits.

There are also mobs in mod 5 which have no Con which means they almost never save on disintegrate. For instance, the abbot falls into the catagory. Its also the easiest spells to kill the doomsphere with.

The only places ive found firewall not useful is Fleshmakers and Inferno, for the obvious reasons. Inferno shouldnt be a problem if you picked up a higher lvl cold spell like Cone of Cold or Ostiluk's Sphere.

Both disintegrate and FW are very useful in preraid and raid, i personally would say you really have to have them. FW is just so useful for killing most trash mobs.
