I'm new to this game and have been reading up on builds trying to figure out what I want to play as. I usually play with a friend of mine so I figured a rogue/ranger would be decent since I get some healing, and get open lock and disable device.

I'm not sure at all what enhancements to pick and am almost sure on my feats so tell me if this would be a decent character. Also IDK if I should go 13 ranger or 11 ranger, a future level cap increase is something I want to consider when picking that.

For Drow their racial weapons are piercing weapons you need to change those feats to piercing. I am not a huge fan of the Dodge-Mobility-Spring Attack line but that's ok if you want to go that route.

I use to have a build posted like this long ago but it was deleted. You might consider something like Ranger 11/Pally 2/Rogue 1 instead that is what I ended up with. You already get evasion from your Ranger levels and the 2 levels of pally get you much better saves with a little attention to charisma. Eventually you can take another level of paladin for immunities when the cap increases.

If you do decide to go pally you can drop int down to 13-14 and bump up charisma a bit. As long as you start with 12-14 charisma you can end up with a nice +5-6 or so to all saves from the paladin levels. The extra two rogue levels really don't get you much besides more skill points and a little more sneak attack damage.

For skills just max UMD, Disable Device, Search, and as much Open Lock as you can and you can do the rogue thing fine in most cases. As long as you know where to look for traps you don't really need spot although you might be able to fit that in as well.

Forgot short swords were piercing, lol.

What feats would you recommend instead of the Dodge-Mobility-Spring Attack line? Also that pally idea is good, i think i'm going to use that.

You can use a buttload of different combinations for the feats.

You can stay simple with: Toughness, SF: Search and Mental Toughness

You can focus on your favored weapons: WF: Peircing, Power Crit, Power Attack

It sounds like EinarMal rerolled his ranger (No Cut & Paste of the build from Rons CG.) Which, BTW, sucks if he did. So I'm gonna try to post a recreation from memory and my experience with my Dex based 1 Rogue/2 Pally/11 Ranger.

Don't let the tomes alarm you. The only one you'll really want at lvl 1 is the INT tome. (And they're cheap if you shop the AH for a couple days.)

At low levels your dex won't be able to fill out most light armors. But holding off on the pally levels is necessary for skill point conservation.

I built in Diplomacy because I've found that most "tanks" nowadays (Especially the barbarella builds ) couldn't tank an angry kobold. So since they're too stupid to invest in Intimidate it's up to you to diplomacy the baddies to chase after them.

Spring attack line is nice, but too costly for race/class w/o bonus feats.
A similar feat is precision, as it will give you +4 to-hit, but lowers base damage by 1/2, doesn't lower weapon effect damage though. Still good to use in some situations where you find it difficult to land a hit.
