View Full Version : Has anyone else noticed this?

This has only been happening lately (last few weeks or so). I rush forward with My fighter-type toon and begin My attack. I swing My weapon 2 (sometimes up to 4-5) times and there's no attack rolls, no damage, nothing........which is just plain annoying, especially when I've rushed up to said enemy and it has it's back turned to My toon, and by the time My attacks start to register the enemy has turned around (effectively negating my sneak attack damage). Just wondering if this happens to others........
Oh, and it doesn't seem to be a lag issue, as it only seems to happen when My toon is the first one to get to an enemy (yeah, I zerg a little :D ). Anywho, thanks in advance for any input, and have a great day

I have seen this as well, and can only sum it up to being a result of the game mechanics itself.

In that, if you have noticed in other situations of the game, some situations or specific mobs (at range) usually, will not take damage until they actually activate and become mobile in a sense of being able to attempt to defend themselves. While in an inactive state they can take no damage and be immune to everything until they actually become active and the AI takes hold.

I can only assume this is partly what is causing your problem, and I would guess you notice this most on mobs that do not move when you go up to hit them (they havent activated yet). Sometimes you must pass over certain triggers to activate a mob and if carefully done you can bypass those triggers making them not activate until they detect you, which in turn will mean you wont hit or do any damage until they detect you and activate, quite often negating any sneak attack or backstab attacks.

This is all assumption, but based on what I have seen before, this seems to be the reason for it, but it is only my guess.

I do believe that you've hit the nail right on the head......When this happens, it does seem that the enemy i'm attacking isn't "active" yet.......Thanks much for clearing that up.......:D

Wish it was that easy to explain... However, anyone that has played an archer, knows that there are MANY times that the timer seems to be off between your animation RoF and the resulting "red numbers" on the struck mob. This will often reach points where you are shooting arrows, and the resulting damage just never occurs. This does not, however, prevent the mob from striking you all day long at the same time. It happens on melees, even on spells occassionally, but by far it happens the most, in my experience, when using a bow.

We can all rejoice though, at least no content is coming out quickly to explain why they haven't had time to fix this longterm gameplay issue....

It happens to archers, it happens to casters, it happens to meleers. Meleers just attack so fast and frequently, you rarely see the unregistered or delayed hits. But, it's bad news for everyone.
