View Full Version : A Curious Wizard

Greetings fellow arcane caster people,

As you can see in my sig, my casters tend to be wizards, but I'm thinking about rolling up a sorceror. I've been hearing some rather wide spread numbers from people on sorc SP totals, so I'm curious as to what your totals look like.

So, if you don't mind, how many SPs does your 14 sorc have? Please include relevant equipment and casting stat info :)

Thanks in advance,
Ach

With 32 cha level 14 and 0 enhancments you should have 1308 sp base.. so you can add all the toys to that number.. ie level 4 or 5 enhancments, feats and wiz items.. if you go all out on sp, and get a wiz 6 item you should crack 1900 fairly easy.. The problem is as a general rule, your not gona want to spend all the enhancment points and feats on extra sp.. Sorc's dont get all the extra feats of a wizard, so many will choose spell focus and damage feats over spell point ones... With minimal enhancments, 0 feats and a wiz 6 item, I have 1638.. Thats probally considerd low, but my DPS is insaine.

Almost same as above:

Cha is 32 (34 w/+3 Tome)
IMT
Wiz VII
All Enhancements

1958 total SP's.

I'd imagine it can be bumped a bit more upon hitting Cha 34 but not much else.

When I had IMT and wore a Magi Robe with all 3 enhancements and a 32 Cha, my Sorc had 1808. I switched to the Elfcrafted robe and dumped IMT for spell pen II. Now I run with 1713, and almost never run out.

/had to be said"Why you little!"
:p :D

I don't really consider Alchemical Bonus to casting stat. Reason being, it increases your max SP, but not your SP. So, unless you have a Cleric with DVs or Ring of Spell Storing to top yourself off, then you won't actually have any extra SP. If you use a shrine, you lose your buff. But, if you did top off, you could have 2027 SP!!!

Hand over the Wiz VII hat and nobody gets hurt.WizVII hat, meh. Archmagi +200 SP (+400 for pure Sorcs) is coming in Mod5. :D Maybe all the Sorcs will get that item, and I can finally get a WizVI or VII hat on the AH/trades.

No, seriously. All these top SP items *SHOULD* be on your Sorc. Double item benefit is just too good to pass up.

Thought of this earlier today Mad....

High Elf, 32 Charisma, MT, IMT, Wiz 7, Full line of Sorc AND HIGH ELF sp enhancements.

Will that be more than his number????

Oran_Lathor
09-11-2007, 04:24 PM
The high elven SP enhancement line, "Elven Arcanum," is only available to wizards, not sorcerors. If they were available to sorc's the high elf would have more, yes, but I suppose that is rather moot.

Gotcha, thanks. Ya learn something new every day. That's a rather curious thing then...why roll a high elf sorc at all?

Which is, by the way, the current maximum SP achievable by any class (or class combination) in the game. Nicely done, Rilen/Celana! :)

Sorcerers gain 95sp going from lvl 13 to 14.
They also gain an additional 12 Bonus sp if they have 34 cha.
Sorcs gain 350sp from a Wiz7 hat.
Total: 457

Bards at lvl 1 gain 50 sp
They also get 120 Bonus sp if they have 34 cha.
Bard1/sorc13 gains 337.5 (rounded down I bet) from a wiz 7 hat due to the class split.
Total: 507

Therefore a bard1/sorc 13 should be able to eek out an extra 50sp, but at the loss of lvl 7 spells. Unless I missed something else :D

Blind_Skwerl

Yes, a 13Sorc/1Bard can have 2031 SP, +50 SP over a 14Sorc.

It's funny how loot is in this game - everyone has their "thing" that they get more than others... for some, it's named items, for others, it's big 5, for me, it's paralyzing heavy crossbows (that can't even be given away, much less sold).

High Umd, and can cover both runes! Is that a made up build or is it one you have? For example, I thought only elf wizards had access to the arcanum enhancement, so with only one level of wizard, you can only take the first level of that enhancement... 15SP, not 60.

Based on this mistake, I have to assume this is a hypothetical build, and I suspect there might be other mistakes hidden.

I think it is different because it is a racial ability. The pre-req is be a wizard, and a total level, regardless of how many are actually wizard levels as long as you have at least 1. Can anyone verify?

Kind of interesting though is, do the elemental damage mods stack for wizard and sorc, or do they only apply for wizard spells and sorc spells respectively?

Grants elven wizards an additional 15 spell points, bringing the total increase to 30. This enhancement requires at least two levels of wizard.
That was for elven arcanum 2. The level requirements increase from there.

I never had the enhancement so didn't know that. The website builder I was using mentions nothing about it and I am at sea currently so couldn't check in game. Went back to work to try to beat 2031, and here is what I come up with:

Drow Wiz1/Bard1/Sorc12
18int +3tome+1levels+6item =28(9)
20cha +3tome+3enh+6item+2levels =34(12)

790 basesorc
50 basewiz
50 basebard
80 magtraining
252 chasorc
120 chabard
90 intwiz
150 feats
110 EODB
325 WIZVII
2017

Human Wiz1/Bard1/Sorc12
18int +3tome+1enh+6item =28(9)
18cha +3tome+3enh+1enh+6item+3levels =34(12)

790 basesorc
50 basewiz
50 basebard
80 magtraining
252 chasorc
120 chabard
90 intwiz
150 feats
110 EODB
325 WIZVII
2017

Elf Wiz1/Bard1/Sorc12
18int +3tome+1levels+6item =28(9)
18cha +3tome+3enh+6item+2levels =32(11)

790 basesorc
50 basewiz
50 basebard
80 magtraining
231 chasorc
110 chabard
90 intwiz
150 feats
110 EODB
15Arcanum I
325 WIZVII
2001

Drow/Human Bard1/sorc13 still wins out by 14-30 sps. I will keep trying to find a way though.

Is that realistic enough for you?
Don't be so quick to judge someone when the info they had was incorrect.
All you have to do is remove 45sps from the original post.
