Hi, while looking at the ten ton Hammer DDO site, I noticed a WF undead hunter build. Thought that would be an interesting build. So I spent the last couple of hours trying to tweak it to my tastes. Here is the goals I wanted to meet.

1: Must be a WF, sorry I know a drow would have been better or even a 32pt build, but I love WF.
2: Must be a 28pt build, sadly I have not reached the dizzying heights of 1750 favor yet.
3: Preferably would like to be able to dual weild Khopesh. I have so may laying around on my mule character I may as well use them.
4: Be the off hand tank of the group. Be able to wade through the critters that the main tank is holding.
5: Have moderate saves, at least 10 in each. I always seemed to have one in the high teens one mid teens and one 9.

When ever I reached lvl 14 on the builder there was always something that bothered me.

So has anyone have any idea, or am I just trying to reach for the impossible.

This is something I slapped together in a semi rush. The paladin makes it easier to fight the pesky mummies that always throw fear around, while you can find yourself a nice Charisma item to boost that will save even higher. Take into account the Warforged Thinking Enhancement and it is technically a 10 against will based spells. BAB progression remains the same, and with 18 base in Str and Dex, those both can increase into nice areas (mithrail fluidity will only get you a +6 off the Mithrail body, but that is better than nothing). The character can dual wield well, and use a bow well. The paladin gets you the first tier of the Silver Flame enhancement for a cheep +1 to longbows for when you do decide to range it.

Changes I would make as I look at it. Probly start the Str and dex at 14 and boost the Con. I would rather not have taken Toughness and waisted an enhancement on Paladin Toughness I, but I didn't realize the mistake until to late and I just did not want to go back through it all. :)

Yeah, as a WF 3 Paladin/ 11 Ranger looks the best way to do it. It's a pity you don't get turning. But it really is difficult to build a character that excels totally against undead (if you want to turn as a Paladin you don't want to splash, but if you don't splash ranger levels, you don't get Favoured enemy). Paladin 8/ Ranger 6 might be intesting. But you'll be turning like a 6th Cleric (if you take Enhancements)... So with a 28-point WF's Cha it'd be pretty useless.

Drow Paladin 13 gets +3 to turning, plus a naturally high Cha. I'd be interested in trying a Cha-based Paladin 13/ Ranger 1 now that I think of it...

I was thinking mostly pali with a splash of ranger and fighter. That must be where I was going wrong.

Turn undead is not an effective tactic in DDO. First, lets clear up the misconception most people have about it. They expect the undead to pop each time you use it, and when that stops happening, people consider it to be broken. Wrong. After a point there are fundamental truths about D&D such as the base damage of the weapon no longer matters and that AC takes a back seat to hit points because of the enemies attack bonuses. Turning undead is another one of those truths. Roughly around lvl 10, when the undead becomes tougher overall, the chances that the undead will pop reduces to zero rather fast. Faster still if you are a paladin.

Making the undead run away or freeze in fear of the turning is more likely what you are going to get if you focus on turning. There is nothing wrong with that, but in the world of DDO people don't like to be hassled with chasing the enemy. I would suggest not focusing on turning, especially if you were thinking more paladin than anything else, because you will simply never be very good at it.

aye I understand about the turn ability. The main reason I was thinking mainly Pali, was for the pali enhancments to saves and AC.
