Can anyone direct me to some reference that I can see for sure what the base number of attacks per round (or however it is measured) are for each weapon in this game? I just want to be able to include that in my decision-making process when picking weapons.

All weapon are supposed to have the same speed, however there is slight variation between weapons. Here is what I was able to dig out, there is nothing official in this.

Yea we don't need to waste dev time on something that many exp players have known for ages. I've known how it works since beta.

2Hnaded Slowest to fastest:
Quaterstaff (special anim totally different then the others)
Falchion
Greatclub
Greatsword
Maul
Greataxe

1 Handed weapons I don't use very much so not 100% sure but this is fairly accurate. Tho overall the difference is much smaller then in 2handers.

Slowest t fastest:
Battleaxe (slow as hell for some reason)
Dwarven Axe
Club/Morningstar/Mace (same anim)
Longsword/Scimitar/Kophesh (same anim)
Dagger/Rapier/Sickle/Kama (same anim, definetely fastest)

Ranged
Great Xbow/Xbow
Longbow/Shortbow
Light/Heavy Repeater

Thrown weps all share the same slow animation.

Dev's haven't given us any answers when we've asked about attack speeds.

Here is a thread (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=117056) trying to get the dev's to answer, or at least figure it out for ourselves.

Basically, after numerous experiments, it looks like this:

1-Handed Weapons - 96 / min
Quarterstaffs - 94 / min
G.Axe / Maul - 92 / min
G.Sword / Falchion - 86 / min

Shade's post mentions that some 1-handed weapons are slower than others. But so far, all 1-handed weapons have tested the exact same for speed. (Tested club, light hammer, hand axe, bastard sword, dwarven axe, kopesh)

I've found that odd when he said that, as I didn't see much difference between my Dwarven Axes and my Battle Axes. I also think they have the same attack speed.
