Dragoncon is pretty much shop, drink, game, drink and people watch, and drink some more. Very Adult themed;)

Is Gencon like this as well?
Tell us that have never been what its like.:D

Yeah, that pretty much covers it ;) Only bigger. Much, MUCH bigger. You wouldn't believe the mass of humanity around the dealer room when it first opens. I've found a little planning goes a long way; leaving extra time in between games whether to make it to the next one in time (see mass of humanity, above) or to get a bite to eat is a simple but import thing.

It's gamer Nirvana though :D

Gencon is Gaming, period. there are Collectible card games in the hallways, Poker tournaments, board games played around the clock, and of course, D&D.

There are Klingons walking around, the occasional Sailor moon, and demonic fairy costume. Wizards, superheroes, I think I saw GWAR costumes once. Yeah, it's all there.

Star Trek celebs, wrestler celebs, Sci-Fi Celebs, authors, artists, new games being peddled, you name it, it's there.

Gamer Nirvana, to the Nth degree.

I went to Gencon every year for 10 years etraight, both as a player, and eventually a volunteer.

The people that run Gencon are working 80+ hours that weekend, take a moment to say thanks also :)

At Dragoncon after 11:00 PM we have a few painted bodies scattered about.
By 1:00 AM parties are in full swing, Gamers wide awake, drinkers still drinking, belly dancing breaks out in random hallways, all the Captain Sparrows are in full pirate mode.
Good times! :D :)

I find all gaming convetions are a good time, but Gencon is just so massive that it's 24/7 party time for 4 days. Since there are so many, obscure generas and games are more easily found too, which is way cool if you have trouble finding others in your area who enjoy the same hobbies as you. There are TONS Of home-brew games that go on also, so you can get exposed to so many awesome ways of playing PnP, but also even card or board games

since gencon is in indy now, it's also nice because you can do some of the things indy has to offer. In the most recent years, hubby and I have detoured to go to the zoo, the arb, movies on Imax (matrix reloaded on imax was the hotness heh. I hope they have 300 this year), and the mall is hooked right to the convention center itself, so tons to do all the time.

It's like this great big mug of frosty ale, tied out on the end of a really long stick. (It's a lance.... )
Year after year ya chase the frosty mug, sometimes ya gets close, sometimes ya can barely see it waaaayy out there....:o

Aye. Granted on all counts.
Don't think the lawyer we have to see first thing Fri morning would understand though - and since he gets to make the call how long we have before we vacate the house, and the trustees of the estate are not in a good mood - would hate to come home to my stuff on the sidewalk. :(
For once, the lawyer is trying to be a decent guy. It's the kids in charge of the estate that are being a pain.

This was my first GenCon. Luckily I had a few experienced guildies along. It was more massive than any other convention I have ever attended. And Merlask helped make my first time an extremely enjoyable experience.(No more chest shaking please, Merlask....I'm getting dizzy.)

See everyone next year,

Is this a yearly, semi-yearly, etc... type deal? I don't know a ton about it, but looks like it would be a fun time. Only a handful of gamers around here, so it would be cool to take a trip to a 4 day party and meet up with some. Especially if there is beer. I'm definitely interested in attending in the future...
