View Full Version : Help Plz with very specific build

I'm very new with bards, and am trying to create a character with some very specific goals in mind. I would appreciate any help ppl can give with this.

First of all it has to be warforged. It will be a 32 pt build and currently the only tome I have available to give to him is a +1 int tome, although I could probably get 1 or 2 others. I also have +6 int and +6 cha items set aside for this build.

This character will be grouping as much as possible with warforged wizards and sorcerers playing the role of buffs and umd specialist. I want a character that will have fairly good stealth skills, as well as the usually important bard skills. I'd like to have enhancements that go well with those situations in mind.

When this character is grouping with PUGs I would focus on buffs and possibly ranged combat.

Lastly, how well would it work to put in a level of rogue to be able to handle traps?

As I said, I'm new to bards and it usually takes me a considerable amount of time to fine tune new builds on my own. I appreciate anything people can do with this concept.

I went and downloaded Ron's lovely character planner, and here's something I was able to come up with. Thx Ron for all the amazing work you put into that.

I would appreciate any input ppl can give to improve this, keeping in mind the very specific roles I have outlined, and also keeping in mind this build only includes 1 piece of gear: a +1 int tome.

Didn't include the gear I already have or could easily obtain except for a +1 int tome which I would use before I hit lvl 2. Already have +6 cha cloak and +6 int goggles rr WF, a bunch of handy docents, +5 str rings and belts, plenty of ore for hvy fort necklace. I imgaine some disable and search items would be pretty important as well.

The builder included spells, which for some reason did not end up on the "copy to clipboard", but that's not as important anyways.

Interesting build. The only thing I'm not entirely convinced about is the 17 starting Intel... That 8 strength worries me as well as the super low wisdom. I understand the importance of Intel to your build but I hate to see you gimping other stats when a 14 Intel would probably do just as well...

Also, my buffing Battle Bard started charisma at 12 and at level 14 with a charisma of 22 has plenty of SP for buffing. He did eat a favor tome and has a +6 item, but starting Charisma at 12 is also an option if you only plan to use SP for buffing...

I could drop the int to 15 and leave out haggle, although that's always a nice skill to have. Any lower than that though would mean taking out either jump, or one of the more vital skills. He already can't do locks as it is.

Low wis I can definitely understand as a concern (wf immunities makes up for that to a small degree, but not much - counting mosly on FOM to bypass will saves), although I dont see why low str would be an issue for a char that focusses on repeaters. For that matter combat isn't going to be a primary focus since this build is meant to group primarily in all caster groups where attacking enemies frequently just spells trouble.

Another question: I'm very inexperienced with rogues. With some items to boost it, are those disable and search skills high enough?

Well Spot is more the issue for the traps, unless you know where the boxes are in most of the quests.

The reason I say strength is more to do with carrying power. Though I suppose with a +4 Str item, you shouldn't have too many weight issues...

Spot would be nice too, but wasnt able to work it in. WF have a different dynamic for carrying capacity since the dont have to worry about armor weight. Docents dont have a weight in DDO.

I think you'll be ok buffed and with good rogue/int gear.

Except for 1 trap:)
