Welcome to my build thread : 111+ served!
Last Updated: 03/01/2012

News: Since I'm now hosting DDOCast I'll be doing one build request for each show which means about one request per week and featuring it on the show.

Notes on using the thread: Its really long, I found that if you don't increase the posts per page count in your user preferences you can't see the final posts in the thread.

You can read my build philosophy here...

About Making Requests
You can make a request in the thread or send me a PM.
I get far more requests than I can fulfill (unlike when I started the thread) and I tend to go in spurts of activity.
I will favor builds I find interesting, challenging or unique and sometimes builds that fill a basic niche in the game.
Try to be as specific about what you want and what kind of options you can use as possible.
I will post the build, link it in this index and try to send you a PM that its done.
If your request is really similar to one I've already done, I may just send you the link instead of making a new one.

TWF 32 point strength build, dual wielding khopesh or (dwarven axe if dwarf)

Either full barb or ranger, or any combo of barb/ranger/fighter as you see fit (multiple build options would be nice to see as well)

And perhaps a TWF Dex build, for some wounding of puncturing finesse weapons

i have a friend who is just coming back to the game after a long layoff, and is looking to make a warforged wizard as self sufficient as possible for solo play, from low to high levels, if you could let me know what you can with that, would be great, and ill pass it on to him

thanks

28 point build btw and multiclassing not preferred but may be considered depending on the pros and cons

I had a go at this idea but i can't get it just right. The offensive ability is too low with my current planing, so let's see what you can do about it.

A 32 pt WF 3 wizard/ 11monk who dualweilds. My figuring is that this character can reach higher AC then other races and non-muti-classers because it can wear armor (docent) and wear a sheild (wiz spell). It needs to have high enough offensive and defensive abilities to be effective at high leveld content. The bonus wizard feat is ofcorse extend for buffing.

so far i can get his AC to 48, but his attack bonus is +20.

I realize we don't know what the enhancements for monks are, but we can assume certain ideas: 2 tier wis bonus, bonus stunning fist, tumble bonus, ect. use your imagination in this department.

Guaire
08-09-2007, 12:04 PM
So my main is a Warforge Pally. Simply put, I love him. Also simply put - he's gimped. Only running him non-stop since startup and gearing him out has rectified this.

I now have (or will in 59 more favor) 32 point builds open and I want to create Guaire 2.0 but I can't get it right.

Guaire's benefits: Pally Saves, Warforged Immunities, Self-buffing (resists, death ward, etc), Self- Healing (3 LOH @ 160 HPs a shot).

Guaire's weaknesses: Strength and Offensive potentcy. Starting STR = 14.

With his current gear and no buffs, his stats are as follows:
STR:20
DEX:10
CON:21 (+2 TOME)
INT:10
WIS:16
CHA:24
HP: 330
SP: 216

I want to rebuild him to balance the increase in strength vs. the loss in charisma/wisdom needed for pally goodness. I'm sitting on +1 STR/DEX/INT tomes and could likely lay hands on WIS/CHR/CON in guild. I'm also not opposed to multi-classing but in doing so need to be able to manage my own resists. If it'd be easier to accomplish the general concept here via a different career path, I'm game for that too.

I know there were a million of these in the lost threads...

I've never built a WF, and I was curious how a more or less balanced (ie, not min-maxed), high-DPS WF Barbarian would look.

I love making builds so I'm offering my services.

Just post a request in this thread laying out what it is you want the build to do. Feel free to include as many specifics and requirements as you like. I'm happy to work on both good, bad, or silly ideas. Give me a challenge and I 2will try to meet it as best I can.

My priorities will be
Meeting your buld's requrements
Making it playable
Making it interesting

In that order

I will only include equipment considerations if you specifiy them or if they are somehow essential for the build.

I will post each build in its own post along with your name and a summary of the request you made. I will try to do each build within a week of the request.

Is an elven wizard (mostly)/Bard (one or two levels) who's not completely gimp with sword and bow possible?

I want to focus on wizard, with a level (or two max) of bard to add light armor proficiency and the ability to use some ever-handy cure wands etc, and the option to use a sword and (especially) a bow to conserve spell points.

Am I dreaming or are there enough options to build a decent character?

How about a drow bard fighter?

I'm not much for shields, but if twf doesn't make sense for me, that'd be okay. I mostly solo, but want to be useful when I have to group. I guess my hope is to be a hardy jack-of-all-trades. Fun and easy to play a priority.

Asking for a build because I seem to be slow to level and whenever I pick new feats/enhancements/whatever, it tends to be whatever would help me at that time. So obviously, I'm not very good at being patient and planning ahead. Please help stop my cycle of gimped uselessness!

I think Sorcerer/Paladin stacks a lot better, since maxing charisma helps both classes. If you want to go melee, maybe 5 levels of wizard and extend for haste and blur would be worthwhile. Wizard is better in that build for many reasons, but you wouldn't want to use a character like that for offensive magic... I see a lot of WF 9F/5W running around - or 7F/5W/2P

I've got a Sorc/Pally Drow - AEsahaettr, who is currently 10th level (2 Pal/8Sorc). All I really want out of the paladin levels is a) the weapon and armor feats (and toughness, which I took at start), and b) the paladin Auras from levels 1 & 2. If you want to be very combat centered maybe do 3 or 4 total levels of paladin.

AEsahaettr (2 Paladin/ 12 Sorc) - initial stats:
8 STR
10 DEX
14 CON
10 INT
10 WIS
20 CHA

Feats: Toughness, Maximize, Extend, Illusion Focus
Enhancements - key ones are eleven arcane fluidity, improved maximize, and elemental lines.

I took Paladin at levels 1 & 3, but in retrospect I would have waited on the 2nd level. As it was I didn't get Wall of Fire until level 10. Oof. I use Twilight chain and a mithril shield, and I run all the time with stoneskin and blur; and when I cast Wall of Fire and everything aggros on me most times I dopn't have to bunny hop - I just start beating on them with my acid enfeebler longsword. :)

Thought I would add one more to the list for you :)

I am looking to make a dual wielding charecter that I actually enjoy and is not the same as everyone other one I run into. I was contemplating it either be a dual pick wielder (prefered option), or a dual hammer wielder. The first I didn't know how to construct effectively to maximize the DPS output of the crit modifier, which is the intent. The second I started tinkering with after getting frustrated with the first and was looking at running weighted weapons in combination with stunning blow. This build seems more possible, so you might end up doing it, but if you can come up with a good way to maximize the pick DPS through crits then I would prefer that. I just don't want to feel like that I should be using shortswords or rapiers.

Race/class etc are not relevant. Assume 28pt or drow. The only gear I ever assume for builds is the maximum + item per level though I am also interested in knowing what specific weapons to aim for for each hand and why.

Thanks in advance

A cleric caster build is what I have in mind. Race/ alig etc immaterial. 28/32 or drow build.

What I have in mind is a buff/heal bot. Would a bard/cleric be better? I am looking for max buff spells and max sp. DVs are optional but I like to carry em.

Design it and I will make it!

Thanks in advance.

Is that such a bad thing? Anyhow I have your build for an Uber battle wizard up in action. I went with a slightly different direction than others I've seen when it comes to my battle side, but fairly traditional on the wizard side.

At some point I'll post my own battle wizard who is somewhat less than uber sicne he's a lot closer to the kinds of builds you are known for and he at least had precision up until level 14 when I re-specced it for.... If a go all the way with my Drow socerere/fighter so that he ends up a Socerere 7/Fighter 7 would this be a good move?

Not especialy.. Both of those classes tend to get their best things on even levels. So a fighter sorcerer would want to probably be 6/8, probably 8 sorcerer as you get a fourth level spell that way. (Firewall is especialy useful)

It's not a popular split or pairing of classes but it can work, I have a Sorcerer/Fighter Warforged character that I like, although he's still low level.

EDIT: The few folk I usually group with seem to equate Dex with TWF. I can take it or leave it, and frankly wouldn't miss it. Entirely your call.

The (perceived?) high cost of adding in a full line of Dragonmarks seems frustrating. Had Turbine implemented them as enhancements, we'd see them more.

I've suspected the Dragonmark feats are somewhat quiet in their usefulness. I look forward to your take on the exercise. Also, I really need to balance out my fixation on WF - a halfling should fit the bill nicely.

Alright, I've been wanting to make a Dragonmarked Halfling Bard with a heavy focus on being a pseudo Cleric for a long time. I created a level 1 that I haven't played yet, but I'd love to see your interpretation. Given the focus on a single role a 28pt build would probably cut it, don't assume any gear, but an analysis with top gear would be interesting. Level splashes are okay, too.

Bards often fill in for Clerics, but given that it'd be nice to see a Bard that could heal close to as well as a Cleric while having Bard-like versatility.

I really dont understand melee builds as much as I should but would like to make one. So here is my request:
A build to tank anything (or as close as I can get)! Essentially, I want a super high ac (mid 50s at least), high dr (blocking dr and passive dr), very high hp (400ish at least) character. What am I willing to sacrifice to acheive this: DPS, strength, etc. I am thinking it will likely be some sort of barb/ftr, dwarf most likely or maybe warforged. feel free to include any equipment you want, other than multiple +2 tomes, mithril fullplate (too hard to get), or raid gear, since after mod5 i suspect thats gonna be really hard to come by. Basically, I am more interested in this working for endgame then while leveling, I'll get him up quick regardless. feel free to be creative. i hate cookie-cutter builds.

Hi Sig

Thanks for the build....looks real solid as you said. I do prefer the old style single class builds. Will have a good look at it over the next 4 weeks when I'm on the ships & see what needs revising / restructuring with your help.

Look like this will be a fun toon to play as is tho. What was the reasoning behind choosing "Human Versatility" please. The duration of each click is so short lived, imho they gimped it when they made it a selectable instead of an always on.

Cheers

From the build

Human Versatility is slated to get extra features letting you boost attack, speed etc..

It's basically a skill boost that you can sacrifice if you prefer and get +speed or +attack. It's just like Rogue Skill boost in every other way, except that you have more options, like if you're in a quest that you know has no traps you can use it for the +attack boost and kill some high AC mobs instead.

Basicaly I have the skill boost becasue it is the cheapest way to add +5 to your rogue skills when they really need it, and I picked Human Versatility instead of Rogue Skill Boost because in mod 5 you can use it to boost attack, or AC and some other things if you don't need it for skills. It would only save you 3pts to have Rogue Skill Boost 4 instead so I though it was worth the 3 pts to have some extra boosts and different types to boot.

I'm not a huge fan to the boosts, but skill boost can be very usefull. I also like the ranger resistance boost for running traps and such, a real bargin for 1 AP sicne it stacks with resist spells.

So here is my request:
A build to tank anything (or as close as I can get)! Essentially, I want a super high ac (mid 50s at least), high dr (blocking dr and passive dr), very high hp (400ish at least) character. . feel free to be creative. i hate cookie-cutter builds.

I think the challenge here will be coming up with something different. This is groud that has been well thought through by others before me. Lots of great tank builds out there. But I'll consider it a challenge to come up with something at least a little unusual.

I have two builds for you to work up for me please. I play in a perma-death guild that doesn't allow the buying of scrolls, wands, potions, or anything from the auction house. So please disgard any assumptions of what is available to me. Keeping that in mind, it is okay to use Dragon Marks on my characters if it helps meet the goal.

* Both must be 28pt builds
* Neither can be Drow

Battlemage

* Since I will be a front line fighter/caster, I must be able to take damage.
* I want to use a Bastard Sword
* I want to be able to deal good dmg in melee
* NO SHIELDS
* I want to cast AoE/Cone spell dmg, since I typically face multiple enemies
* I want to be able to use self-buffs that would benefit the above
* I would prefer to be able to self-heal, but if impossible, don't worry about it. I am okay with being able to heal minor to moderate wounds.
* The classes you use to accomplish this doesn't matter to me.
* I don't need to be the best in melee or spell dmg, but I don't want to suck either. Somewhere in-between would be nice.

Archer

* Being able to deal massive bow dmg is my main priority
* Being able to disarm traps and pick locks is very important as well
* Being good at the skills required to disarm traps and pick locks is next important. (ie. search, spot...)
* Include anything that would help me accomplish my job easier. (ie. being able to take a hit or live longer etc.)
* I would like to be able to augment my Archer with self-buffs and heals if able.

Please remember that I am playing in a perma-death guild with special rules as described above. I can't explain how important that is when creating these builds.

Thank you so much for your help. Have fun.

Need help rolling up a drow battlemage that relies on self buffs(stoneskin, blur, rage, etc), Has a few damage spells tossed in (wall of fire) some cc( hypno hold maybe), and maybe possibly has decent AC(in a dress or mith cs if drow also get arcane fluidity), avg DPS and a high UMD

28 point build or Drow

Looking forward to your ideas, you seem to have a real nack for this.

I posted this one in your Hammer & Tong build thread because its not much different from that,
but I'll repost here in case you want to put it in que:

I like the Hammer & Tong Sig, but I would like you to alter a few things for me if you would.

First off, I want to see this as a Drow version. And it MUST be viable for all levels!

Both a Str option, and a Dex/Finesse option.
(I figure Finesse with PA is still holding its own and I don't need SUPER DPS, just real good.
So more focus on this w/13-14 str base) That is if the PA bonus works with Finesse.
All or mostly fighter with maybe some Barbarian & Wand healer type in there if you can get all the feats
to work Like Fighter/Barbarian/Ranger/Paladin/etc. Whichever gives the best
TWF skills (including GTWF) with dual Picks & a variant Str based Kopesh/something.
(Healing ability falls as least important and not missed if not included)
with all the happy Piercing (or slashing) bonuses/feats and such. Side by side,
so I can compare and choose...
Oh! And what if I wanted to go with Kopesh in main hand?
Whats the best secondary hand weapon,
and what Feat changes would that include to make that a deadly build?
If you can squeeze in good self healing, cool, if it takes too much away, then scrap it.
And all without items, though suggestions after the fact are good.

And Spifflove, I'd like to see your rendition too please!

Oh yeah, one more thing...
I don't want any Bard involved,
I've played so many of them that I'm a bit tired of it and would love to try
ANYTHING but!
(Though if it completely makes or breaks the build, lets see it involved)

With all my needs/requests/variations, this one is perhaps going to be your biggest challenge.
Or at least the longest post!

And if you guys tell me to just roll up a Ranger and take him all the way, I'm going to lose it!
:)

Hey, that's going to be fun! I like the finesse angle...

2 rogue/12 fighter - high dex, whatever you can jam into constitution, intelligence, and strength... well, you said great UMD, so 12 Charisma... still need some strength for the damage roll.. hmmm..

That's a lot to fit in. Nobody agrees with my builds :), but how about -
12 STR, 16 DEX, 14 CON, 12 INT, 10 WIS, 12 CHA?

I'm not sure about the order you take the classes.I took rogue first on my barbarian/rogue... (say, how come I can sneak when I'm enraged?). It hurts you in combat at 1st level, but I say take rogue first - you get a lot more skill points that way.

2nd level, take fighter and finesse...

Hey string - Firstly nice work on helping others out.

Secondly if you feel like mashing your brains ALOT take a look at the arcane thug in the sorc forums. Im really having probs with this one. I like to make my own builds but Im having real dificulties with this one. Maybe a fresh perspective will help.

This is what im going for

Adamantium Body (may seem silly for effectiveness but I just love the look of the addy WF they look so freakin savage)
High Ac50+
Displacement Haste and Stoneskin
Intimidate
Good Saves
Reasonable DPS via khopesh (I have alot of good ones)
UMD

Cant quite get the mix to work unless i use severe micromanagement - the gut feeling I have is that il be hitting buttons on my toolbar more often than actually fighting.

Let me knw if you can see something ive missed.

Cheers

So, I am wondering your take on a "you can't touch me" build.

This build would have maximum AC, Saves, and still have some way of contributing damage.

The main focus of this build would be for PvP viability, with PvE second.

Race, class, etc is totally up for grabs. The goal here is just REAL high AC, combined with Untouchable Saves for pvp survivability.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

First off, who are you in-game. I have yet to figure that out. Second, your builds are to technical for me to understand. To understand them would require extensive prior higher level game knowledge that I don't have. Plus I don't have access to 32 point builds yet, as I stated in my original request.

Other than that, it looks fine. 1 Rogue would scare me away from the guild though, because it would take a lot of convincing that I would be able to disable most traps and unlock most locks. I'm missing the point in taking 2 levels of Fighter as well.

Thanks

P.S.- Sorry it took so long to respond. I don't read the forums nearly as much as I play.

Hello,

This build includes too much technical data as well. All I really need are starting stats, feats suggested, spells suggested, class level break down, and where to spend attributes. The rest of the stuff like items are too dependent on whether I make it to that level or even get the loot to begin with.

It also makes no sense to me to have 8 Dex and 17 Str and wear Light armor. I understand the Spell Failure chance, but that is the price one pays to cast spells with a good AC. That is why having a good 2-hander is required. I guess I could take the High Dex, Mithril Light armor route and weild a Rapier/Mithrl Shld. At least then I would still have good AC w/o items. I would have to put 12 into Str at start for attack bonus and then rely on items for a boost to str, but it seems more viable than 8 Dex wearing light armor.

As per the post, You can wear heavy armor when your mana is gone. The rest of the time wear robes and water works bracers. Extra dex will not help you as much as strength and con, especially since you wanted to use a bastard sword. Now bastard swords in ddo are one handed so I noted that the weapon of choice for the build was a two handed battle ax with fits more with your no shield concept but I gave u the option to take the bastard sword feat. I chose a non drow because thats what you wanted. If you want a dex monkey go drow for the cheaper point buy and take weapon finesses.

Well even though I consider myself good as a build designer, I will give you one for the heck of it:)

High killing potential vs everything in game (firewall and/or ck a bonus)
High hps (300+, aiming for 400)
Good saves (evasion another bonus)
Self healing a must
Plan would be to throw down a firewall and hack in it, preferably with displacement and stoneskin on.

I messed around with different combos of barb/fighter/paladin mixed with wiz/sorc, and finished with this:

wiz8
fighter6
warforged

17str +6item+3levels+2ragespell+2tome+2enh+2madstone=34
8dex 12(madstone boots)
19con +6item+1tome+2enh+2ragespell+4madstone=34
13int +6item+1tome+2enh=22
7wis +6item+1tome=14
6cha

feats:
extend, mt/imp mt, great cleave, toughness
maximize, empower
weapon focus, imp crit, power attack, cleave

Saves: 30/17/22
5/5/5resist, 4/4/4gh, 2/2/6wiz, 5/2/2fighter, 0/1/1 spells, 12/1/2stats, 2/2/2luck

Hps: 356
30gfl+20base+10favor+168con+60fighter+32wiz+16toug hness+20enh

Attack: 28/28/33/38
10bab+12str+1wf+5weapon+1haste+4gh-5pa

Ac: 10?

Sps: 737
255base+100magi+150feats+80magicaltraining+102int+ 50enh

Enhancements:
ConII, StrII, IntII, EosII, healers friendI, InscribedI, Crit accuracyII, item defenseI, toughnessII, Elemental maniIII, imp empowerII, imp maximizeII, deadly elementsI, elementsII, wasnd mastery II.

I make tons of builds in my spare time, but I love seeing what others come up with too. So here is mine:

Take all three of these following classes:

Paladin, Fighter, Ranger

Each has to have a minimum of 3 levels and the character needs to be TWF built. In addition, the character is required to incorperate the Longsword into the build to take advantage of the Sovreign Host enhancement. Prefered conclusion would be a focus in both Slashing and Piercing, but that is able to be taken out if it does not sute the build.

Race: Human prefered, any is fine (Just trying to find something that will have me finally breaking away from Warforged).

And, btw Sig. A lot of these builds are like putting a fresh coat of paint on an old car and saying it's the latest model. Not much different from one to another. Why not one with some real spice to it, instead of imitation sugar?

I would go Ranger 7/Fighter 4/Paladin 3. The only thing that hurts you there is splitting stats (STR & DEX) and the lack of better enhancements given you only have 2 FEs. P8/F4/R2 is another good option.

Well... some builds lend themselvs to something unusual, some don't. My first goal is always to meet the build request parameters, second is to make it effective, third is to add flair and spice. If I can do #1 and #2 via #3 so much the better.

I agree that some of the builds I have done are kind of vanilla or rather simmilar to others. I'll at least be sure to mark yours down for something unusual if I can.

You seem to pretty decent at this and enjoy it as well, so I'll throw in a request.

I'm looking for something to play for fun and just in case they ever add PRC's. I've already done Arcane Trickster and Mystic Theurge. This time, I'm thinking Dwarven Defender (I like Blackguard better but no evil alignments and I cant see Hasbro budging on that).

So here's the requirements:
32 pt Dwarf, any lawful, build to level 10 or 11, no more than 2 classes.
Feat reqs: Dodge, Endurance, Toughness.
Dwarven Defender (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/dwarvenDefender.htm) gets extra Dodge AC, trap sense, uncanny dodge, and some DR/-

If you want to take a stab at Blackguard too:
32 pt Any race, any alignment (would have to change later anyway), build to level 10 or 11, no more than 2 classes.
Skill Req: 5 Ranks Hide Feat reqs: Cleave, Improved Sunder, Power Attack.
Blackguard (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/blackguard.htm) are basically the paladins of evil, so they get spells, LOH, command undead (instead of turn), etc ... they also get benifits from paladin levels (fallen paladin).

Any +1 tome assumption are ok, +2's are off limits since its only to 11.

Well... some builds lend themselvs to something unusual, some don't.

Woot!

I guess I am just frustrated as a whole. Playing since head start and I don't know how many times I have seen the same build with a new name over and over. It gets old...

You do good work, I am just a bitter old fart. Thanks for the honest and candid reply.

I'm back, I'll probably have a somewhat slower pace, need to work on some other projects a bit more in my spare time.

I'll probably try to shoot for around 5-7 builds this week.

ahhhh i was wondering why noone ever mixed bard and pally on these forums. didn't know bard was alignment restricted. my next thought was of a 4 fighter 10 wizard or maybe even 12/2 dwarf using a dwarven axe and the twilight mithral gear and the seven fingered gloves. i'm looking for a pretty uber build to make once i have 1750 favor and lots of cash to power feed him. i think a dwarven wizard would be more of a flavor character though and not so uber. i'm not sure what you gain in thac v/s what you lose in spell lvls for the level break downs. i just think it would be cool to throw on some heavy armor and hack and slash after your spell points run out. any ideas on a very gear specific min/maxed fi/wiz or even pal/sor would be welcome. i wish turbine would change still spell to work like it did in NWN 2. no spell failure. that would make a fi/mu much easier to make. he would just have less of a spell selection when in heavy armor.........i miss my undead lord........

Incredible builds! I just started a Drow Sorcerer (lvl 2) and wanted to try my hand at multi-classing. I have yet to venture from the pure classes, as I am still fairly new to playing D&D online. I was really interested in your BLADE BANGER a Chaotic Good - Drow – Fighter 7 / Sorcerer 7. I was hoping you might be able to come up with something similar for me. I really want to make my Drow Sorcerer melee capable. I'm open to all suggestions (again, this is my first multi-class character). I do prefer she be more Sorcerer than anything else, but am open to Fighter, Pally, Barb, or whatever works. I believe she is currently Neutral Good. If this is going to be a problem, I can always re-create her. Also, if this is an impractical build please let me know, as I've been toying with the idea of a Sorc/Rouge. Again, I would love any and all suggestions. Thanks.

P.S. Most intrigued by the Sorc/Pally combination.

The current chars I've put together - if you want to build up one of them, I'd be curious:

Warmage - Fighter 1/Wiz 13. Elven, finesse, extend spell, etc.
Warbard - Barb 1/Bard 13, Warchanter, Two handed weapons.
Dwarven TWF, Axe focused.

Could always go 8 Sorc / 4 Fighter / 2 Paladin. But I am strange and love to realy mix things up. :)

Your name alone makes me smile :)

Paly must be Lawful good. And I'll be curious to see this one, as it's been an occasional curiosity for me, too.

Was looking for a 28pt build for a Ranged Cleric Drow with DV's. I would like to go mainly cleric with splashing Ranger, but unsure how many levels and how to go about it.

Wow! Fast responses. Thank you all so much for the killer suggestions. I'll re-create her for Lawful Good. So many fun routes to go, but I am absolutely thrilled about WolfSpirit's Sorcerer/Rouge/Paladin build. Incredible! Thank you so much. She should grow to be incredibly self-sufficient, but still work well within a party. I couldn't have asked for more and am so excited to get her re-started!

Oh, and VonBek, glad I could make you smile with the name of my Barb. The name of this new Sorc/Rouge/Pally might also give you a chuckle then: TwistedSis.

You would have to give up UMD and increase your Int quite a bit. You also are open to disrupted spells, so stay back!
But anything is possible:

Now that Character can survive, look at those saves. With Evasion too...

That's is one way of looking at it.
However, if your going to go with the trapsmith, perhaps mixing the Wizard instead of the sorcerer is a
better way, though the saves will slip a bit:

As always, I'm sure others could come up with a better combination of enhancements & Feats to really make this character shine, I'm not so good at point plucking.
But It should be a useful build from start to finish.
Enjoy!

You really did your homework. Thank you. I never could have figured all this out. I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed. I definitely see the difference between the first and second option. The third is a little scary and I really want to keep the Pally. If I where to opt for Disable Device & Open Lock, the first appears to be the most appealing. Honestly, after seeing all the options you've laid out (and I still can't thank you enough for all this), I'm probably going to go with the build you presented in the previous post. I think I'm just getting greedy by wanting the Disable & Open, and will just wind up wrecking my Sorc. I'm even starting to wonder if a Sorc/Pally would be a better choice and I'm just going overboard with the Rouge. See... Told you I was getting a bit overwhelmed. LOL.

I personally like to stress Spot over Open Lock. But that is because I don't rogue it often, and so I don't know where all the boxes are. Once I have had more experience as the party rogue I will start skimping on the spot checks.

One I slapped together as an alternative to one of my characters was a Warforged Rogue 2 / Fighter 2 / Wizard 10. Mine is a Fighter 4 / Wizard 10, but the combat style concept would be the same. Focus entirely on ranged weapons and distanced combat. Carry around a Light Mithrail shield for casting while holding a scepter or something, and just build an arsenal of bows. With Precise Shot it works out pretty good (My main bow is a +2 Holy Longbow of Puncturing).

I posted this one in your Hammer & Tong build thread because its not much different from that,

Both a Str option, and a Dex/Finesse option.
(I figure Finesse with PA is still holding its own and I don't

[FONT=Tahoma]And Spifflove, I'd like to see your rendition too please!

:)

Well the hammers and tong build is not finessible, simply because you need a high strength in able to stun. I do not endorse finesse fighters because (1) there is no AC synergy as they have strength and not dex enhancements and (2) most people who invite you to a group dont want a dex monkey. Here is a drow ranger that is finesse based and should suit your needs well:

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=116680

I will work on a drow verson that is mostly a strength fighter for the hammer and tongs. Note that Drow are adaptable to multiclassing and this is how I will look at things. For single classes, I prefer human as they can add a point to any stat making the drow stat advantage marginal and the extra feat tips the advantage to the human.

My first character (table top) was an halfling rogue-acrobat. I'd love to see him back in DDO form. I have tomes (+1 dex, int, cha) and 32 pts builds. For fun, (he used to fight with it) i'd like to see a bastard sword in his hands. Any class combo is allright but at least improved evasion. No trap monkey but no miss on normal and at least adequate on hard. Versatibility with UMD would be appreciated. I'm not sure if the dragonmarks would make him better but don't stop if it does. The character will mostly duo, if it can help, but he has to be good at something if i group. I liked the way you approach these requests so have fun with mine.

I am interested in making this build

Rogue 2 (for UMD and evasion)
Pal 2
Sorceror 10

The race can be drow or a 32 point char

Two levels of rogue
Two levels of pal
Ten levels of sorc

I have tried a few builds but cannot come up with a good one.
I know this is a build that has been done before but I haven't been able to find an outline.

I want to mainly do melee fighting wiht a sword and shield.
High UMD
Self Haste

Thanks!
I will also take other suggestions into consideration.

(edit) - I saw the one above but I wanted to have more STR and CON.

Ok Sig I got one for you for when mod 5 hits I will have 2 extra spots and am thinking of making a pair of barbs. Was thinking I'd like a WF Barb/Ftr that uses both 2 handed slashing & 2 handed blunt. Why? I've got a few WF only greatswords laying around from experimenting w/ lord of the blades and also recently pulled a para maul that actually is doing nice dmg on top of paralyzing mobs in my wf ftr/pallys hands right now. Only tomes I have are a +1 INT and a +1 WIS but I may be able to trade those to a guildy for something more usefull. I do have 32 points avaliable and yes I know clerics are going to fear me:) Also got a fair selection of docents from my previous warforged and only having to get a mod. fort item is kinda sweet. The other slot, well maybe a human barb or maybe something completely different:)

I would like you to help me build "Solomon Kane".

This is the lesser known hero of Robert E. Howard which he came up with before Conan. Although his short stories are not as popular as the Conan ones, I have personally always liked him better.

Basic requirements: must use a rapier and dagger TWF. Must be finesse based with enough dex to warrant wearing robes (because he doesn't wear armor) but also enough str to fit Solomon Kane's described iron grip. Must be (obviously) human. Would like a little ranged capability as well to simulate his pistol and musket. NO rogue in the build please. I would like some paladin also if at all possible, as he is a Puritan headhunter basically.

Oh, and i have 32 pt builds.

EDIT 2: Decided I would be able to deal with spellcasting.

EDIT: Just 1 more thing to add. Since the character is extremely durable I would love for you to work as much hp as possible in there. Whenever i try it myself he either has too little str or only around 240 end game hp, and thats just horrible.

From Wikipedia, to help frame the build:

Howard describes him as a somber and gloomy man of pale face and cold eyes, all of it shadowed by a slouch hat. He is dressed entirely in black and his weaponry consists of a rapier, a dagger, and a couple of flintlock pistols. During one of his latter adventures his friend N'Longa, a black African shaman, gave him a voodoo staff that served as a protection against evil, but could easily be wielded as an effective weapon. It is revealed in another story, "The Footfalls Within," that this is the mythical Staff of Solomon, a talisman older than the Earth and unimaginably powerful, much more so than even N'Longa knew. In the same adventure with N'Longa, Kane is seen using a musket as well.

well i can't find any thing in the rogue forums. so i am asking you. i've seen your work and its pretty good. so i'm looking for a DEX rogue female halfling. piercing and ranged spec'd. trapsmithing over combat but useful in a skirmish. not sure if ranger bow STR works with crossbows. looking at repeaters as a main with piercing weapons as back up melee. mostly stat damage, utility effects(crippling, destruction etc.), and any power 5 i can get( mostly looking at para, disrution and banishing). multiclassing obviously will be a must. not sure if ranger would be better than paladin but fighter will be the most useful. could go twf with ranger/fighter/rogue but if paladin/fighter/rogue works better i'd like to know. looking to replace my level 9 rogue. pierce spec'd trapmonkey. didn't know some things i do now and would like to try my hand at keeping farther from comabt. :)

edit: if "way of the mechanic" can be worked in with out giving up any thing, that would be nice too.

May I suggest your 2nd Barb be a Halfling TWF Pick wielder?

You would need to trade one of those tomes for a dex tome.

Starting stats str-16 dex-16 con-16 int-8 wis-8 cha-8.

Use the dex tome before 6th level.

All level-ups into Str.

Feats - 1-TWF, 3-Power Atk, 6-ITWF, 9-Imp Crit:Pierce, and 12-GTWF.

With the Barb Crit enhancements, you end up 17-20/x4!

While Raging your damage looks like-

+3 elemental burst heavy picks in both hands

mainhand
1d6 + 21 + 1d6 (not bad)

crit 17-20 - (1d6 + 21)x4 + 1d6 + 3d10 = minimum-92 avg-118 max-144 with bloodstone add 24 points to each crit!

offhand
1d6 + 14 + 1d6

crit 17-20 - (1d6 + 14)x4 + 1d6 + 3d10 = minimum-64 avg-90 max-116
with bloodstone add 24 points to each crit!

Possible 168 point hits with mainhand and 140 point hits with the offhand!!!! This is with only +3 elemental burst heavy picks! Now imagine you are able to locate "of maiming" versions! It is possible, currently to find +5 elemental burst ****** of maiming! These would add an additional 8 + 3d6 damage on a crit!! And the "of maiming" is untyped, so no DR on it.

Hmmmm you may be correct, I like it, time to start collecting picks:)

Hvymetal, I would personally go WF barb for the twf pick barb. I have one at lvl 10 and with those wf power attack enhancements i have topped 200 pts of dmg with a +3 burst heavy pick of maiming rr wf hvy pick in my main hand and a +2 burst of maiming heavy pick in my off hand. Once you get to around lvl 9 you should have enough strength to dual wield heavy's most of the time depending on how level appropriate the content is.

Start stats:
STR 18
DEX 16
CON 16
INT 8
WIS 6
CHA 6

Dex tome at lvl 5 or before, all level ups into strength, same feats as that halfling version.

I've never played a bard before, and would like to try one that splashes 1+ rogue level to find/disable traps. I was thinking Drow as INT/CHA/DEX would all be important, but have 32-pt access so not limited there. Balanced on the bard side, want Buff, CC and Heal to all be decent. Mandatory that UMD be high enough for self-buffed easy-raise scroll use, heal scrolls if possible. Was assuming the spellsinger track for that and spell points.

Don't really know what combat makes sense for this, perhaps if Drow finesse with rapier given racial weapon and dex enhancements? Open to suggestions there. Posting this as much for the uncertainty of how much Rogue to splash. INT 16 would allow cross-classing a lot of rogue skills even with just 1 level of rogue at first, but I could see spreading 3 rogue levels by 16th (or up to 4 by 20th) if that best keeps skills maxed.

Would have posted in the Bard forum, but really didn't have a good enough idea to even start, so thought this thread would be better. As such I'm open to anything. The Drow-think was just the first way I could think of to pull it off, but really open to whatever you think creatively meets the objective.

Thanks!

No limits on class or race.

Basic build can use a couple +1 tomes, one +6 item and other non-raid loot.

"Enhanced" version (if you feel like it) can use anything.

So the question is... what is the best build against the undead? Sorcs do massive fire damage, clerics turn, a big barb with a maul does lots of bludgen, rangers get favored enemy... (does not have to be one of those either.

What do you think?

~Jules921

I was looking for a Bard for the warchanter line - buffs and backup healing - I think splashing a level or two of ftg helps with this. I would also like to be able to hit most of the traps I know I won't be able to hit them all - and I'll need buffs to do more than a few ;)

I have 2 con tomes so I can use 1 and possibly swap the 2nd for another type of tome.

Let me know and thanks :D

Thinking neutral for UMD flexibility.

Alright I have unlocked 32point builds and I really want to do a dual wielding Kukri build that is a non-Drow, non Dwarf dps build with the ability to heal its self if possible(I am thinking at least 2 ranger levels for the free feat and the healing). I really want to go with the highest DPS possible assuming criticals and such as well. A decent ac would be nice as well as decent saves but really want the dps. You can assume that +1 tomes are possible at around level 5 or 6(since I don't like using tomes until I know I like the character) and +6 items in one or two keys stats. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

I have a request.
Still new to game so not sure if it can be done or is even worth doing but here we go.
I want to make a toon in the same vein as the Shaman in EQ. I want to be able to heal good enough to keep a group alive but it doesn't have to be uber healing powers.
What I do want is as many buffs as possible, haste, hp buffs, str buffs, what ever I want to be a Buffing god.
I would also like to be able to debuff mobs, and maybe have a little summoned creature as a pet.
I was thinking of mixing some cleric/bard/sorc. But really have no idea as to how much of each or even if I need the bard in there.
So remeber healing/buffing/debuffing.
thank you. that is all.

Hey Sigtrent,

When you have the time I would like to request a build for myself. I would like a rogue. 32 pt build. mainly dex, high tumble, dual weilding kukri's, as well as a very, very proficient trapsmith. As I want to be able to solo "Xorian Cipher", at least up to the doors and when not soloing Xorian, if possible be able to disarm even "cabal of one" up to elite if possible. Probably would need to go pure rogue, to be able to do this but if possible to toss in a few levels of fighter that would be good too.

No tomes, gear only as nessecary to complete the build. The race I would say to be up to yourself as to best utilize the request.

Thanks for the time for this, I wanted a nice project to build when I unlock my 32 point builds.

I have been playing casters and rangers since the game started and now I want to try a front line DPS tank of some kind.

All I require is:

32pt build
non-dwarf (human or Drow preferred)
decent evasion
good DPS
better than average AC

I'm open to sword/shield or TWF and don't care if I can cast or not. I just want to fight w/o getting it handed to me due to low AC. It might be nice to be able to solo some things for loot when i'm playing at 5am too. Maybe toss some rogue in there?

I have every +1 tome except WIS
I have Mith FP to play with too
I have a pile of longswords including a Vorp i'd like to use

Cheers!

About the request I made - I decided to drop the rogue part and the reason for having the fighter splash is to make it easier to get the warchanter. Looking for feedback or suggestions on how to set it up with 1 or 2 levels of ftg. I have 32 pt builds unlocked and after the update will have an open slot for it too. I think with the bonuses you get with drow, the numbers work out better. Below is what I did build - she's playing ok - but not sure if I'm happy with how I've set up my feats, skill points etc. The tomes are not really tomes - just basic equip she'll have.

Thanks for the help,
Jules

well it's not DR, but i have an arcain defender build you may be interestd in. If you want more DR I guess you can drop dodge and combat expertise for the WF DR feats and tatke the nehancements for DR.

http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=1281190&postcount=15

Basic idea here is to do mass damage aggroing then put up the CE and sheild for huge AC and decent DR (i think it's Bab/2 + sheild base + 2 + 10 stoneskin= 20, or 26 with feats, enhancements, and adam sheild). Hardest piece of equipment to find would be the docent but i have a +4 arcain sigil docent, so +5 lesser arcain must exist.

Hi Sigtrent,

Having played the game for a few days now I've become addicted to Warforged Characters. I was wondering if you could please design a build for a pure Warforged Sorcerer who focuses primarily on elemental damage and repair spells. It would also be nice if this character could solo.

Many thanks

Hey gang, I want to try something twisted. My caster has a great staff collection that he never uses and I have seen the Shining Crescents drop. So what I have in mind is a WF staff swinging melee / caster blend. Barbarian WF is so over done, but a caster that can knock the socks off anything that gets past the tanks or a DPS fighter that can self buff and heal would both be interesting.

Want to give it a shot?

As I want to be able to solo "Xorian Cipher", at least up to the doors and when not soloing Xorian, if possible be able to disarm even "cabal of one" up to elite if possible. Probably would need to go pure rogue, to be able to do this but if possible to toss in a few levels of fighter that would be good too.

No tomes, gear only as nessecary to complete the build. The race I would say to be up to yourself as to best utilize the request.

Thanks for the time for this, I wanted a nice project to build when I unlock my 32 point builds.

Sig, I thought I'd help out, since you seem a bit busy lately.

The requester wanted a Rogue that dual-wields Kukris and can do the Cabal trap with a 32 point build.

The first thing to check is the Search score.

Of course, if you are good and can get your sneak attack in a lot, you can add 6d6 damage to each hit that is a sneak attack. On average about 21 points of extra damage each hit. So don't forget to use your bluff skill.

Overall, the build shouls be okay without some of the equipment I have included (all the +6 stat items), but I don't find these real hard to get (except the damn Wis +6). These are more things to shoot for, rather than have-to-haves. The only real weak point is the HPs, which you should kind of pad with Stoneskin scrolls and Displacement when needed. Just remember you are not an up-front fighter and you should be okay.

purhapes a little monk when their released. staves are a special monk weapon

This is to give me a reason to hold on to those staffs till monks do come out. I am sure that for harder fights THF or sword and board will work better and can be used but I am burned out on TWF rangers and axe, with and without board, dwarves.
It doesn't have to be WF but the pure comedy and shock value in the pit or a PUG would make it all worth while. He tumbles into a crowd and cleans house, then tumbles out. It makes me think of a scene in the "Wheel of Time" books. A warder is explaining to two young nobles that the only person that ever beat their hero was a strangler with a staff and then one of the mainline characters Matt beats them with "just a staff".

Just unlocked Drow!

Looking for a 28 pt rogue/wiz build. Pretty much open to seeing what the options are. Like to both solo and group.

Thinking neutral for UMD flexibility.

THANKS!

Changed my mind and went rogue/ranger with my Drow but working on a 28pt WF rogue/wizard so same thing, just WF.

THANKS!

I know it kills you min/maxers, but I would reallyl like suggestions on a human, sword and board 32 point build without all the extra tomes and such. I don't get to play alot and I send a lot of extra loot to my son's char. so I am not uber rich. I just would like a playable Pure Pally that I can have fun role playing since it is my favorite char type. TYVM. May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil know's your dead!!! (or have a cleric with res with you he he)

Could you build the ultimate max'd ranged style Sorcerer in human or elf (not Drow)? Please. I've got a working toon and would like to compare your ideas with the route i'm currently taking and if yours is better or ands a nice twist i may well follow suite. Thanks.

Hey sigtrent... I know you know me from over on the Paladin Forums... well, I think the time has come for me to try rolling a Bard. I have tried in the past, but I just haven't "figured-out" the Bard yet, and can't get past around level 5-6... but it's time to try again, and this time I'll try to get some help on the build.

As you know, I am a huge proponent of the Holy Avenger series of Paladin, and I love the good DPS, Evasion, and UMD/Utility of the build. I realize that a Bard isn't going to lead in kills like my Holy Avenger can, but I want to build a Battle-type Bard (I'm guessing that means Warchanter?) that can melee (probably more of a support-fighter role) and buff and keep the party hasted and doing lots of damage.

Build Requirements: None, really. 32 points, Multiple +1 Tomes (please not more that 1 Tome that I *HAVE* to eat at Level 1 tho), +6 Stat Items all ok. Let's try to stay away from Raid Loot. Race: Unimportant, but I would need a REALLY good reason to go WF for the build. I would probably personally lean towards Human, but I can be moved on that. MultiClassing is ok, but really only a splash for proficiencies or something like that (12/2 or 13/1 or 14).

Build Objectives: A Melee-oriented Bard that can take up a support-fighter role in the party (I'm thinking Paralyzers, Wounders, Cursespewers, etc), Cast CC decently, Keep the party 100% Hasted and GH'd, and Fascinate when needed.

Build Thoughts: I know that AC will be pretty much impossible on a build like this, so I will assume that I will need to be 100% Blurred or Displaced, so let's not even worry about AC on this build (I have no problem with plannig on Robes from the start). I am perfectly ok with level-ups and 1750 Tome going to STR over CHA, if it makes sense.

Ok, I've rambled enough here... so I'll leave it up to your Bardic Imagination.

Thanks!
Dworkin

Got what you asked for here:

Here is a basic sword-n-board Human Paladin.

I went with Khopesh, as nothing else outdamages it one-handed. You could swap it for Bastard Sword or drop it and do longsword.

I also took UMD full ranks and Skill Focus, you can use any Race-Restricted items you want, as well as a lot of scrolls/wands. You actually will have a decent chance at Raise Dead (with appropriate items).

I suggest +6 Str and Cha and Con items, but they are not necessary, +4 will do just fine.

You do need a +2 or +6 Dex item (depending on if you get Mith Full Plate or not) to max out you Dex bonus for armor.

Sigtrent:

I was hoping you could help me with the other extreme now. At one time I had you come up with a crazy Sorc/Rog/Pal build for me (and you were absolutely right about Wiz being a better fit), so now I was hoping you could help me with a pure insta-death caster. I love my well rounded pure Sorc, but find she insn't as good at the PK, FOD, etc. spells as I would like. Penetration is a *****. So I was hoping you could give me a caster that excels in these spells. That is all I care about. No restrictions on race and if you feel the need to meld classes go right ahead. I fully trust your judgement and give you free reign as long as she is the ultimate insta-death caster! Supplemental crowd control spells would be a big plus. Feel free to include +6 items, but I don't have any tomes stockpiled so please leave those out of the equation for now. 32pt or 28pt is fine by me.

Looking for a reformed barbarian paladin. Straight paladin class levels but using a great axe. 28 point build, dont account for tomes but any equiptment reccomendations would be nice. Has to be human race. I do want enough cha and wis to use most or all of the paladins abilities but more barbarian like high str/con. I dunno use your discretion for stats.

Picture the 6 foot 5 blonde haired blue eyed newly reformed barbarian paladin. Btw this is for roleplaying purposes but I do want him to be in game useful.

Maybe I'm crazy but I'd like a WF rogue/cleric. Really enjoying a pure Cleric I made but would like to have rogue skills when solo or stuck on the other side of the door from the party!

Tough to balance out (been trying) so curious what you can come up with... Tried one with 16 str/wis so far... kills the rogue skills though. Wondering if UMD is of use and also if maybe a pure Cleric with UMD spec can cover the lock/device skills I'm missing.

I love rogues but want some healing/melee flavor added in (and Warforged rock). :)

I would like to request another build if I may :)

First I would like to request a battle cleric. Greataxes, Able to heal the party if need be. Superior Melee damage and a decent DC on greater command etc.

Second I would like A TWF Rogue that uses slashers. Can keep up on all traps, cabal is a bonus but ill get over it if not, twists are always interesting. Would prefer WF, if WF must be able to self heal via reconstruct, if non WF must be able to self heal via Heal. Scrolls or otherwise.

Thanks! Oz

Hi,

I have Drow unlocked but not the 32 build points yet. I am looking to create a character that can be the guy groups ask to go in to a room full of mobs, get their attention and survive the onslaught of spells being cast on me. I suppose this means I am looking for high saves, etc. I would like this character to be the main rogue in a group dealing with traps and chests. I really am open to almost any suggestion about class and race. I think a high UMD would be pretty useful for self buffs and heals. I guess I am looking for survivability and the usual compliment of rogue skills such as disable, unlock, etc.

I mention Dex in my title because I assume, though it might be wrong, that high dex is good for saves and survivability. Multiclassing is fine but if the multiclass is a caster I will need some help with the best spells to utilize. The only caster I have ever played is a cleric, never a sorc or wizard. I do not know anything about them except they seem to do insane amounts of damage.

Can I do this and survive a couple of levels early in the game doing some solo content?

I know this build has been out for a while now, but I am curious to see the breakdown of this build as far as what class to take at each level along with feats and enhancements that make up this build. Additionally, what are the starting stats for this build? ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:D

Aramel, The "Batman Build", as you have probably found on the forums is, for all intents and purposes, dead. The changes to the Enhancement System back in Mod 3.3 basically killed the build. While it is certainly possible to make a Fighter/Paladin/Rogue that can DPS and do the Traps, the Intimi-Tank portion of that build really doesn't work anymore. If you want to look at some Paladin/Fighter Intimitanks or some Paladin/Rogue DPS builds with Trap-monkey skills, please check out the Paladin Build Guide (Link in my Sig). But the all-three build (IntimidateTank, DPS, TrapMonkey) really doesn't work anymore... sorry :(

Hello;

I am attempting to configure this build, but not sure of the breakdown. Objective: crowd control and backup healer with spells and exceptional wand use; finding and disabling traps and being able to support the group as a second rank fighter; high UMD. Any thoughts on how many levels of each and what to take at each level. Thanks much and keep up the great work!:D

P.S. Where do we find the build if/when you do make it? Will it be posted here or is there another area you put the buildS? Thanks again

I am looking for a healer build for my wife. She does not enjoy killing monsters but would enjoy keeping the rest of the party alive and healthy. Her spell list would include NO offensive spells, just heal, restore, remove curse, etc. If she has a weapon in her hand it is for the bonuses to her casting and not to hit things with. No dwarfs please. She wants a decent looking female character. (but would not mind being a WF) Build would have to be 28 pt or drow as we do not have 32 pt unlocked

Hello, i was thinking of making a new tank in replace of my first toon. Either 28 or 32 pt builds will work, as well as Drow. My favorate part of this game is pvp, so i would like him to so well in there. I need a good ac, meaning about 50 at least, would love to see 55-60ish. I will also need a good to-hit. I like the fighters feats, the barbarians rage, and all the great pally self buffs and lay on hands, so i cant decide what to do. If you could shed some light on my problem it would be much apreciated.

Reposted from the bard forum for suggestions here too.

What I know:
feel like that's what people expect in a bard, and I'd like to be able to contribute some.
Race: Drow.
Class: Bard (all or mostly pure) - I multiclass *everything*. I want to play a pure class, or nearly pure class, bard, since they are, effectively, multiclassed already.
Style: CC/Melee mix.
Abilities: Crowd Control. I have found myself focusing very strongly on melee and damage (even my wizard is a battlemage). But I love the idea of control. So I want to use the bard to muck around with it. I think I want the song of the dead and the other enhancements, to allow me to CC everything. BUT. I want to be melee capable as well. I don't want to necessarily lead the kill counts, but I want to feel like I can choose between CC and melee, and be effective at either. If I'm out of SP, I want to be useful to the party. And if we need DPS, I want to be able to step up (also, that would seem likely to increase my ability to level and solo). But I don't want to play a character that buffs himself up to the level of a barbarian, and then does DPS at the expense of the rest of his abilities - I'd rather play a barbarian at that point, unless you can do respectable CC using only fascinate.

I don't really care about healing - I can use wands and pots for that, and I don't want to be responsible for other party member's health. And I'm not particularly interested in filling the rogue slot. I'd also like to be a respectable buffer, if it can be fit in. Range is also not particularly important to me, though if I go twf then I have a relatively reasonable range built in.

So, suggestions?

Hi all, not dead, just a bit too busy with things to make builds (they take about a half-hour to two hours to do one).

I'll get on them again when I get a chance but the wait time may be lenghty. Might have some good time for it this weekend, we shall see.

im looking for character builds, but i want as much "sigtrent" in them as possible. have fun with them.

--Purely solo barbarian--

this character likes to go it alone, and thusly needs to be completely self sufficient. not until deep into his lifetime will he be able to afford all the fancy items and weapons that some take for granted. he would not be going into elite dungeons unless they were lower than his current level. because he has no wingmen to use as a crutch, his level guide would need to be layed out for maximum ease of leveling alone on normal or hard difficulty dungeons. 28pt build, no drow allowed.

--Two handed weapon using spell-caster--

This character wants to combine the best of both worlds: massive weapons to inflict severe pain, and pure destructive magic for any situation. normally melee and magic are viewed on separate platforms of existence, but i would like to see you try and make them work together to compliment each other. 28pt, no drow allowed.

--Nut..Hacker?--
a variation of your Nut Cracker build (TWF str dwarf). the only thing this character uses ranged weapons for is to pick off those stragglers who are near dead and running, to pull stuff to myself / party, or to slowly wittle away at mobs that are in tough to reach places. still using axes as the main weapon of choice, still staying dwarf, id like to see if you can squeeze alittle more survivability into the character without sacrificing much of the melee dps or "flavor" this character already has.

You dont have to create all of these, if you dont like. I just wanted to give you some options of ideas im interested in. hopefully one or two of these are interesting to you as well, enough so, to inspire you to create some effective and viable character builds with them =)

I'm tired of selling off picks and want to put them to use somehow. The crit range is horrid, but the x4 damage could be cool. Please build me a 32pt build using picks heavy in primary light in secondary. I also have a set of tomes to round up starting stats +1 to the next even #. I'm open to any race/class combos.

EDIT: please ignore this request - right about when I posted this two threads started up on just this theme. Dworkin and Impaqt have posted some interesting builds to work from.

Another request to add to the queue...

My dear old Cleric is a pretty good healbot, but he's notoriously likely to miss a jump or fail a balance check.. since he was my first character, with random stats and *ahem* random skills. I haven't been able to think about a cleric build till now since I ground his way to level 14.

I'd like a pure or 1-level splash cleric, any race, 28 pt (with some advice for 32pt? I can do drow of course but haven't gotten to 1750 yet) who is a good healbot, but can jump, survive falls, stay on his feat, and can put out DPS and land high-DC spells when he needs to.

Thanks!

Just thinkin a lvl or 2 of bard to give healing and maybe more CC. Focus to be mostly on sorc to deal heavy damage end game and the bard to provide a bit of self reliance with healing and CC. dont care which race and I have the option for 32pt build.

I was away for a couple months and in that time managed to get a new comp and lose all my saved build threads soooo....I forgot where I was going with a build so this is what it is so far:

CG Dwarf lvl 6 fighter
Base Stats:
STR: 15
Dex: 18
Con: 17
Int: 9
wis: 9
Cha: 7

Feats:
Dodge

Imp 2WF
WF Slash
WS Slash

I don't remember where the hell I was going with it but there was a plan someplace. If anyone could help me out I would love it.

I love the WarForged, tough time leveling though.....i want a monster 2handed weapon dsp machine. doesnt have to have a high AC bust must have a high DR. the twist is i need to be self relient, heals, buffs(blur, heroism, haste) and open lock(if possible).
even though ive been playing for a long time i still only have access to the 28 pt build. Basic items at high levs +5 stat, some +1 tomes not them all though(assume 3 max), little to no raid loot. Maelstrom will be used at low levs unless you can give me a reason not to for high lev benefits.

thanks for the help

Hi. I'm looking to make an Artificer styled class until Turbine decides to put one into the game. I'm thinking it should be a multi-class of Fighter/Wizard or Rogue/Wizard. Rogue is what was suggested to me in game and in another thread. However not sure how to go about making the character stat wise or at exactly what point to start picking up the Wizard levels. I do want to make this character a human with the ability to use swords or at least rapiers along side of wands. I assume I have to use light armor which isn't a problem. Having the Least Mark of Making at the start would be nice but not a deal breaker (more so for RP reasons I guess but would fit with the "Artificer" theme of the character).

This will be a newbie character as I just started playing again. So no twinking of any kind as they say. I plan on grouping but will do solo missions as well in the beginning. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sig,

is this build you made still viable for a 32 pt dwarf TWF?

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=1300771#post1300771

I want a good dps fighter using D axes and Oversized when Mod 6 comes out. I do have all +1 tomes.

I think it holds up pretty well. I updated it with Oversized Two Weapon fighting at level 6 and added levels 15 and 16 to it since that's all coming up fairly soon. I didn't see anything fundamental I would change. I havn't done a tempest build yet, but I don't think the feat picks would work for the concept on this one which was a tough bruiser kind of two weapon ranger.

With the tomes you migh be able to eek out an exra point of this or that starting stat. The main stats already assume you are using tomes, but I tend not to figure them into secondary stats like int and wisdom so you can probably get an extra skill point by shiffling those around.

I'd like to second the request for your take on an Arcane Archer. Impaqt has posted his 11r/5w build which has a focus on soloing and self-buffing... I'm considering that build but it takes a very long time to get to high ranger levels...

My desires - Elf, ranging Ranger with decent melee abilities and the Arcane Archer enhancements... this would be my first ranger so I'd like to get to 11th level Ranger in the first 14 levels, but I would be open to wizard or fighter levels...

However: Not only is there a massive backlog, despite my inactivity here I get more requests than I can realisticly keep up with. so... Mostly I'll tackle these based on what I find most interesting or least like other builds I have done already. The tricky ones can take a few hours, the easy ones are still at least an hour. At any rate I'm really honored that so many folks have made requests and said nice things about the effort, i just wanted to let folks know I won't be able to quite fulfill the promice of the thread title. :)

Hey Sig in your eyes what is the best build, all around. would like to see what you come up with :)

I'll see what I come up with, although generaly my opinion is that pure sorcerers of a fairly vanila sort are about as good as it gets. Not my favorite kind of character but they are amazingly potent at high levels. What I'm not as sure of is if a WF sorc is superior to a human. The WF is a weaker caster but can self heal like the ****ens so I think they make better soloists. So by most definitions of "best" I'd go with a human Sorcerer specced about equaly for damage casting and kill/CC casting.

when you'd have time, I'd like to see what you come up with for a buffer/support type Wiz or Sorc (whichever you think is best). I prefer the Elf race, though human will do if you think it's better. I really just want a build that supports a party well.

Hey Bro,

My wife and i have been playing ddo since launch and have recently ran into the problem of our guild thinning out and moving on. We have played many different classes and builds so we are not novices to the game. We have unlocked both the drow and the 32 point builds. My requested task for you, my friend, is will you build me two characters that will always run together that can successfully complete 90% of all content 100% of the way.

My wife and i are going to try to run through the entire game just the two of us, and maybe even see if we can conquer a raid or two on our own. So we will need to be able to do what 4 different classes do with only two people. Heal, Kill, Nuke/CC, and open those annoying locked doors and disable those pesky traps.

We are up for any race/class combinations but would like to be the same race for the two characters.

Thank you in advance for your ideas, input, and time invested into this nifty trick.

Hello, Semi new to the game, played about a year ago for a few months and just repicked up the game. I played some random builds and all weapons combo, and unlocked drow but not the 32pt build so far. Now if I may request a build, I really liked your build of Fuzgut, with the high dmg, high atk with a 2h axe but he didn't have a leveling guide so I had noidea how to go about it, now what i'm looking for it something just like that with the barb spells, warchanter, UMD, self healing, and the high atk/dmg with any 2h. But limited to a female - drow, human, or elf. Thanks

Ebo

I did a crunchy bits about duo play.. Generaly I advise just skipping the locks and traps although there are some quests where that doesn't work out so well.

For high end content, nothing beats out a strong caster. Clerics, sorcs and wizards all have some + sides. At the low and mid game, brute fighters and healers are the mainstay becasue casters are a bit limited in what they can do with thier SP. Without massive damage spells like firewall or insti kills its hard to get much milage in a quest where you have to actualy kill most of the monsters.

Healing and recovery are also quite essential....

Race wise I'd lean to Warforged or Dwarf, possibly human.
The hard part is working in the rogue skills on caster types. One way to do it is share the duties and have both characters run some rogue skills. Once could take the dex side, the other the int side of the skill pool. Or you can sink all the rogue in one character.

I think for maximum flexibility I'd shoot for a Wizard and a Cleric which covers pretty much any and every spell you can hope for. Both would need to be durable. The hard part is working in rogue and keeping some kind of combat abbility in there.... its a tough thing to get. Sorcerer is clearly attractive as its so incredibly strong as a clutch caster. But it's terrible for multi classing and pairs badly with rogue. So perhaps a Sorcerer and a strong companion character that does a bit of everything.

Generaly you want as much sorcerer as you can get. You get new spells at even leves. Generaly most such builds want Haste (level 6) and Firewall (level 8).

With paladin you definately want 2 levels as it gets you the big boost to saving throws from your charisma score (divine grace abbility). 3rd level is nice because you get a couple of immunities and can increase your save and AC aura values by 1 with enhancments.

Fighter is best with even levels. 1, 2, and 4 are popular to add feats to a build.

So, minimum Pally Fighter levels would be Paladin 2, Fighter 1, Sorcerer 11
Maximum Pally/Fighter would be like Paladin 3, Fighter 4, Sorcerer 7
A nice middle ground would be Paladin 3, Fighter 2, Sorcerer 9

OK, so a couple of things made think lately and I know this doesn;t follow conventional wisdom concerning Barbs and the route most thik they should go.

I am interested in a Tactical/Strategy Barbarian build, does not have to be pure. I do not have access to all kinds of tomes but can probably get my hands on a few. 32 Points is fine and I prefer Warforged, but any race will do. (Ok really prefer Warforged)

What really got me thinking was the comparisons showing that Barbs actually had higher DC's thana Strat/Tac Fighter build.

I'm new to DDO and only have two low level characters. I have been soloing mainly so I am looking for some level of self sufficiency. I currently have a 3rd level Dwarven Figher (2) Cleric (1). No tomes, magic items (other than what a 3rd leveler might find), and no real knowledge of what magic items I may get.

Looking for guidance to improve current character. Main focus is fighting, but with buffs and healing.

thanks for the response Sig. i think i'm gonna go for 12 Sorc/2 Pally/2 fighter. since the level cap goes up this month. knock on wood. i think these types of build will be great with access to reconstruction. which i belive you get at lvl 12? i belive with the new cap i will also be able to get improved crit on him. i'm gonna dump wisdom and try to use a feat on force of personality. prolly will pick up the feat that makes me immune to crits and sneak attacks too since i'll be healing myself and won't need cure spells. I forget what its called. thanks for the help though. i'll try to post my build by the end of next week and hopefully you guys can help me tweak him out.

Alright Sigtrent the last build you did for me was great. My brother plays it and loves it and I decided to play your Dark Dancer build and they work great together. And we have lots of fun seeing who will out kill the other and it really just comes to luck which makes it all that more fun with smack talk. Funniest thing about it is which ever one loses just blame you lol. But I have another request for you. What I am looking for is a complete ranged character which would be some one that can use ALL ranged weapons in the game currently what I mean by all ranged is really just that, the ability to use all the ranged weapons in the game even the exotic weapons. I want this purely to play something different and also to have someone I can send all the ranged stuff I get to that character who can then use it rather than just selling it such as good bows, xbow, repeaters and great xbows as well as all the thrown weapons in the game. I would also like to be able to umd any race required weapons if you can work that in if not its not a big deal would be nice since i really just want the character to act as a deposit of all ranged items I get. Don't really care what race or anything I have a leaning towards halfling and then Drow but don't care which ever one you think would work better. would not mind being able to heal myself with wands or what not and I do have 32 point builds I don't really want to use any tomes and I can get most of the equipment that is not raid. I look forward to see what you come up with.

I've read most of this thread. Wow you really do rock. How about this one: Human barbarian shaman aka barbarian/cleric. I was thinking of the classic barbarian shaman....mystical in nature, able to heal and protect his people whether it be via divind magic or blood curdling combat. Obviously won't be top end DPS but acceptable as either back up cleric or 2nd line tank.

Thanks.

I am looking to have a cleric (any race) (32 point build available). Looking for him/her to be fairly balanced, can melee if necessary, can heal, and cc. I know that is prolly alot to ask, i do not currently have any tomes, and will be awhile before I can get this charecter up to be able to get raid loot, but looking for any options that might be viable.

Heh, don't know if this has been answered before, but figured I'd just post the request and see what came about.

I don't have any lvl 14 characters. I have unlocked drow, but that 400 points of favor is on a gimped rogue I'm going to delete eventually. I haven't played in a year, just came back to try it all again.

What I'd like is this... the fastest, cheapest, most efficient character to get in plenty of Pick Up Groups, and that once he gets to 14, and is working on unlocked 32pt builds, can work nicely toward gathering funds to support other characters and builds.

I don't have a guild to lean on for support, nor do I have anyone on my friend's list.
I don't have any starting gold to speak of, nor any uber items banked and waiting.

Other than that, no real restrictions. I'm open to any class/race combinations.

Thanks.

Well I'm in a bit of a pickle. I have a level 4 rogue and I love playing as him. Lately, however, I've been feeling like my play experience is lacking. I have also played as a ranger, a sorcerer and a bard. I loved all of them.

What I am looking for a is a build for a character that has a little of all of those 4 classes. (Preferably a little heavy on the bard). Now if you could make this build as customizable and nooby friendly as possible, you would forever have my thanks. I am really trying to find my niche in DDO and none of the classes by themselves seem to do it for me. Thanks a lot.

Name wise, that's up to you. This is a pretty loose request, tweak with it and jumble it up as much as you want. In the end if it doesn't work out for me I can use it as a base plate for something else.

I know this is a pretty odd request. Thanks.

EDIT: Oh I forgot to mention that I have not unlocked drow, so I guess this is a...28 point build.

I searched the boards but couldn't find this so please point me in the right direction if this has already been done.

Looking to build a Drow pure Rogue.

Priorities are melee using Weapon Finesse(Rapiers) with possible TWF if it makes sense and Disable Traps & Open Locks.

Not really interested in ranged weapons.

Thx!

I'm sure that you have had this one already. I am looking for the best rogue/ranger combo. I want more rogue than ranger, so I am thinking 2 levels ranger for TWF. Thanks.
I am only 28 point atm, but drow is open and preferred.

Warforged, TWF STR Ranger with STWF, Large TWF, and Whirlwind Attack, Must be able to cast Barkskin. Do not want to have to rely on DEX for TWF, ITWF, GTWF, or STWF. Am interested in the Temptest build. 32pt Built Cap at lvl 16. Multiclass if able/need to. Tumble as skill.

If this has already been built please direct me to the link, if not, good luck and Godspeed. Thank you.

I would like to request a build for Arcane Archer.

I was thinking: True neutral drow with more focus on the ranger side but it would be nice to be able to haste myself. So that would mean 10 ranger/6 wizard or 11 ranger/5 wizard.

Feats absolutely needed would be:
Weapon Focus: Ranged
Point Blank Shot
Mental Toughness

Nice feats to have would be:
Extend
Power critical
Improved critical: Ranged

The toon would also need UMD since I only get good gear that is race restricted, and it's never drow. I just got 2 sets of armor +7 bracers, both with UMD: 20 (dwarf and halfling). I could get the Golden Cartouche for the +3 to UMD to equip my gear and I have a few +5 cha items floating around for the cha boost. I also have a +1 tome for every stat but dex.

I don't know how effective a build like this would be. If you have another suggestion for ranger/wizard levels I'm open to that. Thanks in advance!

I want to build a decent combo of soloable and group player.
requirements:
Must be warforged
32 pt build available.
will equip on the run ( what I find or is available readily/cheaply nothing rare or hard to find)

optional would likes
UMD
traps and locks to do optionals on some of the solo stuff.

Don't mind spending some cash for tomes around level 5-6 ( to see if i like playing this build)
thanks in advance

I'm looking for a character who is as useful as possible to a party with being ranger splashing paladin. I like divine grave plus evasion, but would rather get evasion from ranger than rogue if possible. I don't have 32 point yet, but a 32 point build would give me something to work for. Drow would also be good. My hope is to make a DPS character that would have good saves to solo sometimes when I can't find a group. (I play non peak hours). If this is a common character type, I apologize.

Ok, I'll give this a try. I do a LOT of builds myself so I'd love to see what you come up with.

I want a Warforged tank, mainly fighter, say, up to 12 fighter or so. I'd like to get Weap Focus, Weap Spec, Greater Weap Focus, Greater Weap spec, but if you think you can come up with something changing the levels around, let your creativity go.

Focus on damage reduction through possibly Adamantine Body, DR Feats and DR Enhancements.

DPS should be primarily focused on as much 1 handed DPS as possible. This character definitely needs to be doing very good DPS. Would be using a shield most of the time. Consider Deathnip a possibility in your build.

If possible, I would like this build to be able to achieve a high AC. I want to be able to tank through both AC and DR at times.

You can use any tomes up to +2 in the build. Also you can go ahead and factor in raid loot if you want to do equipment.

I'll have another build I'm working on shortly for you and see what you come up with :)

After attempting (a while ago) to build an Amish Battle Cleric, I would love for an expert to take a stab at it.

Requirements:
Human
32 pt build
Primarily Cleric class
Warhammer(s)
Kill Stuff
Heal Stuff as needed
Possibly a TWF
Not reliant on a bunch of tomes or super-uber gear

Have fun!

(You still read this Sigtrent?)

Yep...

It's just that I'm super busy lately and I have to kind of carve out time specificaly to do the builds. They take about 2 hours to do for an easy one and longer for a really tricky one. It seems like a long time but I think them over, plug them into the build machine to verify numbers, do a bit of reasearch on feats and abbilities as needed, and fill out my ever changing build format sheet.

I started the thread when I had more free time than usual and the last 6 months I've had less than usual. If I ever decide I'm totaly closing shop on the thread I'll be sure to let folks know. I did announce that instead of guaranteeing builds it's more like a lottery now and I just do them as I have time/energy.

Here's a request.

Rogue 11, Ftr 2, Pal 3 character that's a capable trapsmith, durable (though good saves, imp. evasion, reasonable HP, and capacity to UMD Heal and Stoneskin scrolls), and that can dish out significant Sneak Attack damage (possibly dualwielding). Finesse or not, as you see fit.

Assume 32 point builds, access to +6 stat items, 1 or 2 unbound +2 tomes (they drop more now :D) and any gear that's not absolutely uber (i.e. no Tome of Untold Legends turnins, no W/P rapier) but more common high-end stuff like Vorpals are fine, as are Altar of Subjugation green steel items.

So are you going to be a battle cleric? Or you just looking for survivability? And you've only planned out to lvl 9, how many more cleric levels were you planning on taking, and where are your stat points/enhancements going?

My cleric is straight cleric, lvl 16. She is extremely good at surviving, just because of her stats and the cleric buffs she can cast on herself. I know from playing on my other toons that I have little use for a cleric who has a wis of lower than 24 because there are runes and stuff in the game where you'll need at least that much wis to get them. Not to mention the amount of spell points, etc. Just my opinion of course.

Hello Sigtrent,

i would like some fair balance between melee and casting, leaning a bit towards the casting side. im envisioning a justiciar character for Vulkoor. tracking down those who are flagrantly injust in their opposition. rp aside i would like to be able to keep up, i dont have to max out the charts on either end (melee/caster).

oh and i took it to lvl 9 here just to get a first feel for how it might work.

course i would also like to know w/o +tome/item will it be possible to get those base stats to a reasonable level?

I want to play a WF warchanter that uses Stunning Blow. I've picked up a Hammer of the Leaden Clouds, and figured it would be perfect for it. So a hammer and board guy. Mauls for when I really need to use DPS. I just like hammers lol

The guild I'm in also focuses on stealth skills (hide/ms/jump), so that would be cool too (plus the bard's haggle, perform and UMD).

I don't have much experience playing with bards (I have none), but were I to play one, this is what I'd want.

I'm thinking some ftr lvls (2-4) for feats, and a sorc lvl for sp and easier arcane wand access. Bard the rest of the way. (cc/spell pen is pretty much non existent)

Expect no tomes, but 32 pt build is accessible. No raid/uber rare loot (but if you'd like to, you can show what it can do for the build). End game viability would be cool, but I'm a casual gamer, so I can't expect much without the toys for it.

Thanks in advance.

I have a build request if you don't mind:

I'd like to have a drow TWF shortsword battle cleric of Vulkoor. He would depend on his blades and summons ( avatar of Vulkoor) for damage and use magic for buffs, utility and healing. I'd also like him to be at least semi decent at turning undead if possible. I'd be willing to take a level or two of fighter if you believe it would greatly help the build. If possible I'd like to have extend somewhere in there for longer lasting buffs, but whatever you think would work best.

Much obliged

Hi,
a WF(could be other than wf if had to be) wiz/cleric (could be sorc cleric if had to be) who excelled in solo play.
Spells used mainly for self buffs and crowd control so being able to do damage with a weapon would be great.
Level split was wondering about 7/13 but really dont know what would work best.
32 point currently unavailable but do have a +1 wis tome available atm.

Thank you.

I absolutely adore the "Mistress of Mayhem" sorc you came up with for me. She has become my main. :) I also can't wait to see what you do with the Arcane Archer you have pending to work up, as I'm thinking of re-rolling my ranger. I was curious about another build though. I would like trying to run a wiz/rogue. I would prefer not to sacrifice any rogue skills (ie. traps & locks) and Evasion is greatly wanted. Casting can more be supplementary. I'm open to sorc if that would work more smoothly with the rogue, although I can't imagine why it would. No WF please! I know you are swamped with requests, but hope you can get around to this one eventually. Thank you so much.

A friend and myself have these toons and started playing them together. ;) We died, LOL. I think all the action points for each character are available. These guys started at 28. I don't have the specs on them. Just looking for a direction we could take them. I have looked at gobs and gobs of builds. But, I really don't know which ones would work best. Can you make this work?

1. Human - 4 FTR - Lawful good
2. Drow - 2 Rog/1 FTR - True Neutral

Just looking for survival and good times. No time to join a big guild or do raids at present. Any suggestions at all would be beneficial: gear, and such. :D

I searched the forums and couldn't find the answer. I also posted a new thread because I know how back-logged you are with requests. Regardless of what other responses I get on my own thread, I want to know what you would build:

I'm just returning to DDO, want to play solo only and do as much content as possible. I don't have the time or knowledge to put together builds myself so I am asking for your expertise! Give me what you consider the best pure-soloist build, regardless of classes or race. I want to be self-sufficient and get this character to 1750 favor so I can unlock 32pt builds for my future monk! :)

I am new to DDO, I've never played PnP either so this request might be a little out there. I would like to have a charactor that can open traps/locks well, can heal himself (using wands I suspect is the cheapest way to do this) and can hold his own in a fight. I have tried a fighter (sword & board) and a ranger/fighter. I really like being able to sneak around so that is really needed. I suspect that it should be a human for the extra feat but I am open to other races. I don't have any gear or tomes or anything useful to give it either unfortunately. Any help you can provide would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sigtrent,

I'm enjoying the WF Sor build you linked me to. I do have over 400 favor and thus unlocked the Drow. Someone else was telling me a Drow Sor would be slightly better? Do you agree with this? If so, do you have a build for this as a pure solo char?

Hi Sigtrent,

I am happy with the WF Sor as is, but have a new request. I am looking for a solo rogue build. I want to be able to spot all traps and hidden areas, unlock all traps, use wands and scrolls with UMD and be a good damage dealer, whether through archery, TWF, sneak attack, etc. I am not concerned with a pure rogue build, so feel free to hybrid as you see fit. I would prefer a Drow, but would take your advice on best class. Let me know if you need more details.

Thanks,

Actualy I like human sorcerers ever so slightly better than drow sorcerers, although the difference is pretty small. Drow are great if you want an armored caster as they have an enhanement line that lets you wear some light armor and drow are good with dex. Human sorcerers are a bit better for pure casting due to the extra feat, which can really come in handy. They also don't have that low constitution issue.

The "mistress mayhem" build in my list is what I think is about the best possible sorcerer (and possibly the best all around build in DDO). For solo I like the warfroged becasue they can instantly heal themselves to full at high level. This is incredibly usefull when soloing. Sorcerers can get a decen UMD to do some healing but its slow and not much good in the middle of a fight. Humans and drow are stronger casters due to the higher charisma but the self healing and WF immunities are gold when soloing.

Thanks,
Ltldogg

I can do a build at some point but what you probably want is a Rogue1/Ranger X where you start with one level of rogue and then mostly go ranger. (two roge levels might be good to start to get evasion early on). The thing with a solo rogue is that you don't get to use sneak attack much, so it pays to multi class into something where you can maintain your skills but has better combat options. Ranger is a nice solo combat class because you have good ranged and good melee options as well as elemental resists. Ranger and rogue work well together becasue ranger gets a lot of skill points and a few of the rogue skills are also ranger skills.

Sigtrent,

Thanks for both replies. As for the suggested build, I am looking forward to it. I really only need the rogue to have the 4 core skills and so switching to ranger while still keeping those skills maxxed would be great. I would like to go Drow if possible, but would listen to other suggestions. UMD would be nice, but I would sacrifice. I would also prefer to avoid a caster class since I am playing the WF Sor also.

Let me know if possible and you are interested.

Thanks,
Ltldogg

Hello Sigtrent,

I know you like making builds for people, however i already have a build in mind, however wanted some feedback on it. Some background for me is I am a returning player and been back for a few weeks, my biggest fault is 1. making new characters almost daily trying to optimize and make the biggest baddest character ever, at least for solo/duo with my brother as well as for a great group player. Basicly I love having everything and doing it all and because of this i have rerolled about 30 bards and about 15 different warforged wizards very often with small splashes of rogue and fighter.

I have not played much mid/high level content however dont want to be anything but a powerful character in solo and group, however by that i dont mean i need to have max int from drow if i get a great benefit from healing w/ hafling dragonmarks or whatever, i dont know.

Looking at this build what do you think of it and where can it be optimized (I know my rogue skills will be below par and I wont pretend to be a rogue except in solo/normal and in hard/elite when capable)

This is certainly the flavor of the month. Don't know if it is suited to high-level play, but people are trying it. Wouldn't it be better to dump dex and raise cha for better UMD (and diplomacy when you have pets/meat shields around)?

Thats why i am asking for advice for gameplay generally post lvl 5 range, is cha really needed for a wiz besides umd/diplomacy? i have never used diplomacy how well does it really work? i know when i melee a lot with melee characters I dont use skills like trip/sunder because they always seem somewhat useless (trip has advantages ofcourse, however only hits well with a strong str based char) and im not used to using those kind of skills diplomacy/intimidate/bluff. are those skills vital for good group cohesion in later gameplay?

Is the lvl of rogue foolish and a complete waste to the group who wants to be somewhat hardcore/speed runners? Is the feats in dragonmarks foolish/a complete waste when playing with any competent group? and if the answer to both those questions are yes it is a stupid choice to go dragonmark/rogue splash how large of a mistake is it when it comes to solo/group cohesion?

BLUF: Can you recommend a current build, or make a new one, that solos like a champion at level 3? An "off the boat" build as if the level cap is 3. [28 point, no tomes, no banked gear, no money for unlimited potions, etc]

Discussion: I got it into my head that I should be able to solo everything through Waterworks at level 3, because you can't advance to 4 until Marketplace. Then I wanted to solo as much of it on elite as possible, and now I'm toying with just staying in the harbour and mastering the low levels of every class. Other gamers have the high-end pretty well covered anyway.

I realize playstyle and patience will do more than an extra 3 hp, but I hope suggested feats will suggest a playstyle. I read your treatment of Sorc that included Jump, and it was a revelation. Master's Touch and buff clickies? It's like a mini-Tenser's Transformation. Or was that Mordenkainen?

I appreciate your time,

Cheers.

Sigtrent,
I'm really intrigued with the combo Wiz/Rog. I tried sitting down with the planner and loose patience by lvl 10 since I have to learn what each and every enhancement or feat does. I've never played a caster, but have a lvl 16 rogue (and just love her!) and an Intimitank (Which I'm also having a great time playing her). I saw your Liberator (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=1378319#post1378319) build.

Could you modify it for a 32pt build with a couple other tweaks?

I'm not sure I'm sold on the race, what are the benefits of WF? I've always chosen human, drow, or halfing. Anything else 'feels' odd, un-natural.

I see UMD as a useful skill. The ability the ability to use RR items and cleric scrolls. I could live without this skill if it creates an unbalanced character.

I'm not concerned about the uber elite traps (i.e. Cabal). If I can disable 90-95% of traps, I'll be happy.

As a caster, I see myself being mostly CC and buffs with some focus on Fire so when the party needs a WoF it does decent damage. I don't have any experience playing a Wizard so I'll have to rely on your expertice for what would be the most useful.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I would like a 32 point duel wielding khopesh warforge using 2 green steel khopesh's from the new raid with what you think would be the best way to make the khopeshes for max DPS thx!

If you are going to be building characters for people please make them with the understanding that the level cap will eventually go to 20. Noone want to reroll at 19 because their build dies there.

Example your barb14 rogue 2 has BAB 19 at 20 instead of 20. Which is the normal cap for DND. So at 20 they will have 1 less attack and your last attack in DDO is your best. So right there you have taken the highest DPS melee class and reduced its DPS by about 20% because you didn't plan for 2 more level increases. Be careful people want help because they don't want to have to reroll next level increase

hiya, enjoy reading your builds! - I'm always on the lookout for fun but effecient characters and on that note I'd like to request a:

32pt Halfling twf rogue(min 10 lvls of rogue) - assasin style killar
dex/finesse, with 3 healing dragonmarks, hvy focus on backstabbing, medium focus on sneaking
want high UMD

you can include +6 stat items, +1 tomes(and a +2favortome), raid loot from the reaver, good gear but not über(no WoP dropped for me yet)

edit: feel free to multiclass fighter/ranger/wizard etc to get the feats and whatnot

- thanks :)

Looking for an awesome solo build, I usually run with a cleric in Army of Two mode, so I need a build that will do DPS and not blow all of the priests sp. Prefer a wiztank build but whatever

Copied from the guest forums, as I don't think they can post here:

Well I have made up my mind, I am going to play a rouge, a 100% rouge.

If any of you with a lot of experice can help me with a good build idea as far as stats and so forth I would much appreciate it. I have been playing around with DDOCharGen program I found that someone made and posted on another forum.

Would anyone like to create something with it from 1-16? I am not so much concerned about dual wield vs shield, it sounds to me with the squishy factor the shield is a good way to go, and for someone that wants to take the time to really learn the rouge the TWF is a good way to go. (I am the one to learn it well :) )

I basicaly want to be able to open locks, pick traps and be useful in groups for dps and the other abilities of the rouge, I played a rouge in pen and paper D&D for many years, and although I am sure I will learn a lot of new things here, I am sure I can use that knowledge to help in my playstyle here.

Thanks again for the great information!

I would like to see what a defensively minded barbarian would look like. Nevermind the practicallity of it, I just would like to see if its possible. Lets say CE is a must but dont want to completely neglect damage, as any melee should be able do decent damage. Race is up to the designer. Equipment is pretty much a non-issue, most can be gotten if not just taken out of the bank. Thanks in advance for any help.

I need a good, all arounder, pure cleric build. A little tank, a little melee, a little healing, and a little smiting o' the undead. Any race but the giant robot plz.

I like to twink around with builds myself but I really love what you have done with a few of yours. I would like to see if you could build the ultimate rune cracker:
- Any Race and/or Class Combinations
- 32 Builds
- As many +1 Tombs as you want to use
- Assume +4 Stat Items (I can likley eventually get +6 but wand to just stick with +4)
- No raid loot
- Must be able to hit every rune in game (CHA, WIS, INT in adtion be able to pull STR levers) and do them by 10th level!
- Would be nice if it was also excelent (finding and disamring, spot optional) with most traps and some locks
- Should also be able to fulfill at least one other secondary role in the party (ie: Backup healer, buffer or secondary DPS)
