I am sure most of you know what the bracers do and where they come from, but for those that dont... (If you know skip to the next paragraph) They come from the Demon Queen raid in the desert and as for what they do here is a link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/CJGMURPG/DDOitems/BracersoftheDemonConsort.jpg. In addition to that screenshot these bracers have a hidden effect that has a chance to give you a negative level on hit.

As for Warforged they have a number of immunities including immunity to energy draining. (If you have played a warforged skip to the next paragraph) For those of you that have never played a warforged here is a link to the DDO website compendium that displays warforged racial abilities. http://www.ddo.com/index.php?page_id=339&menus=r:rf&do=racialabilities&rf_id=5&cmi=3:5. ( Look at the warforged immunities).

Now to tie the two together for everyone... Warforged obviously should not be affected by the hidden effect of the bracers (chance of negative level on hit) because they are immune to energy drain (yes energy drain does include negative levels). Unfortunately this is not the case currently. I have a warforged i have eagerly been leveling and who has been watiting to get his hands on these bracers only to find out from a fellow warforged guildie that they can get the negative level even though they are immune to it. This does not ruin my character in any way, but i would like to see this error corrected for all warforged. Some of you might say that it is self inflicted by choosing to put the bracers on, but just because you choose to wear them you shouldnt have any more or less immunity to it than you did before they were put on. So, what do you all think?

So... any info on the odds of the negative level? Curse, I can live with. But a negative level, if too frequent, would suck.

I think you are misunderstanding what the item does. The bracers have a chance to curse monsters, provide you with temporary hit points, or hit them with inflict moderate wounds when an enemy lands a succesful melee hit on your character. The negative level is a side effect of wearing the bracers that hits you with the negative level instead of an enemy mob. As for the chance of any of these happening i do not know.

On another note please keep on track with what the post is about. (Warforged being immune to negative levels yet still getting it from the bracers side effect.)

Thank you,

Pat

No, Warforged should be vulnerable to it, by arbitration.

The Bracers drain is not blocked by any effect or ability which can block energy drain, including the Deathward spell or being a Warforged. That is by definition, and there's no way you can argue against it anymore than you can argue that Beholders shouldn't have a disintegrate ray.

If you choose to allow a Demon to feed on your lifeforce you must accept the consequences.

Energy drain is not the only way to get a negative level, only the most common.

Apparently this negative level is caused by an effect that it not energy drain based.

Yeah, like a Demon frying up some salt bacon to feed his family with your soul (Life Force)

Demons are people too!!!! They have to eat like everyone else.

Just curious, what is the chance of getting a negative level? Is it fairly rare or is it something that's going to happen every other hit and be very annoying? And is there a saving throw vs it?

Its about 20% of the time for one of the 3 good affects and 1% of the time for the negative level. No saving throw for the negative level.

Ive had them a few months now and have only been hit twice with a neg level from them.

Indeed. If that was the "power" of the bracers, I would say that if the negative level didn't apply, then the bracers wouldn't work.

Gotta feed those hungry demons.

In the case of a 2 handed fighter, it would definitely seem that the neg level is alot more frequent than 1%. There is a better chance that someone plucked that 1% statistic from their sphincter. If it is 1% then the 2 handed fighter in my guild that wears them must get awfully unlucky ALL of the time. I have seen him get hit with 3 neg levels on one mob pull. Oh, for those about to argue that this doesnt happen on their fighter....the one i am talking about actually does damage.

Perhaps since it was a weapon wielded 2 handed the glancing blows also have a chance to proc the negative level which would give 2 handers a lot more chances to get the neg level.

This is possible although i was of the belief that its chance to proc was when the wearer gets hit, not when the wearer hits something. i dont own a set myself, so i wouldnt argue this point...but i think that is how it is.
The fighter that has them has all the 2 hander feats and is just one of those insane animal type fighters that does alot of damage so i am thinking he just gets hit alot.

Ressurrecting this old thread...

Isnt it possible to just take off a neg. level with restoration pots or does wearing bracers make you immune to it?

restoration pots do NOT cure negative levels

but you have several other options regardless. one: wait 1-2 minutes, when F2P went live they changed negative level mechanics, and they now disappear! (with time) the low proc rate on the only bad side effect pretty much ensures you very very rarely run around with more than one negative level.

option 2: be a divine class with greater restoration

option 3: have umd for greater restoration scrolls

option 4: use a shrine

option 5: run epic dragon for SoS shards and loot as many Hammer of Life's as you can.

(for those of you unaware, Hammer of Life, is a seldom wanted piece of raid loot from the dragon, which has a clickie of greater restoration)

the bracers have always been great, but havent gotten alot friendlier in the past year with the change and with the release of epic dragon

Can you negate the negative levels from the consort demon bracers with a ward item, such as the silver flame pendant or the scarab of neg level protection (I forget the actual name)? I have the SF pendant and want to use the bracers, but MAN I am sick of negative levels taking me out of action for 15+ minutes...

I upgraded my bracers to Epic a while back and the neg effects seem random. Sometimes you get hit by a load at once.Sometimes not at all. I'm sure it is more than 1% tho.

The good effects hit more than the bad and another little snippet. The procs damage The Hound of Xoriat b4 the dogs beat her down. So you can curse her and damage her.

I wouldnt use the item if you are doing an important tanking job such as Horoth. You can get hit with a few negs and then roll a one vs disintegrate and goodnight

The neg level is incredibly annoying and i dont wear them as much anymore as a result.

Having a guild pot to restore a level would be a massive boost.

I'm not WF by the way

I know a few have suggested to remove the neg proc but given what the Dev said in this thread ,their is more chance of an Anchovy climbing Mount Everest.

Warding (of any sort) has no effect on the Neg levels

The bracers give;
6 theoretical dr/nothing
2.5 damage per received hit
1% chance for curse(on high save enemies)
1% chance for a negative

With the negative, you've done 250 damage, blocked 600 damage, and cursed an enemy.
Put the minor effects into one bundle and you realize why the item is so great.

So... Get negative removal abilities, such as 6 levels of clr, or HoTD.
