Only if we keep losing players due to disinterest and changes that upset the masses. On Mabar we have seem dozens of constant players leaving after the last update. Saddens me to see so many great people and players leaving. :( This is always Turbines answer to trying desperately to get old players back with the lure of loot and quick leveling to get them caught back up in levels. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of level 14 items! :D I just see server merges in our future at the rate our server population declinations. Especially how it has been impacting the low population servers.

Well I play on Lhazaar and it is pretty much the second lowest populated server and when I have been on playing since update 4.1 I have still seen 2 instances of Giant hold and plenty of people on. Maybe other servers are having a bit of a problem, but I have not seen it here anyway. Besides there was nothing wrong with the update or the changes.

People will always lose interest in a non-required activity they have been doing for a year or so. I just think many are using the changes to the game as an excuse to do what they were going to do anyway. It just is more dramatic and puts the blame so to speak off of themselves.

I, for one, am excited. I like +1 loot weekends, and they have improved my gameplay experience.

How's that, you ask? Well, I haven't done very much looting at all since the last +1 weekend. I made enough money to cover all of my normal expenditures for about a month and a half, which opened up all kinds of time to do whatever the heck I wanted, instead of looting every third day to cover the expenses of the previous two.

That, and I want to see some ML14 loot.

I think there's a bit of truth to this. Funny thing is +1 chest level doesn't really excite me that much anymore.

Extra xp? that's cool I guess, but how many capped characters do I need to grind the same quests over and over again for a set of dragon armor?

Anyway I know some people will enjoy it alot, have fun :) I'll probably do some looting as well, but it won't be a big deal to me.

50% xp and better loot amkes it easier for those on the edge of moving servers..i know there have lots of posts about ppl moving to argo lately so this will help out the migraters alot. If i moved to a different server surely it would be better to do it when there's 50% xp, yea? better loot too. It was just conjecture. :D

Best time to move, is to move prior to the weekend, and get plenty of mid levels (4-6) ready to bust up to 10 over the time. As for what server to move to...not really sure the biggest is the best. Where ever your guild is going to head would make the most sense.

Regarding the loot weekend- They are always nice to get, and I hope a few old times come back for a visit.

Ah you mean like they won't be worried about moving because they will level up quick anyway. Ok I was missing that.

Well yeah I suppose that will happen, but I can't really see it happening in a mass migration or anything. For the most part I think folks stick with the server or two they are already on because they know the people they play with regularily? Eh, might just be my sense of what happens.

Yay for bonus xp. Yay for live events.
Boo for +1 loot. Unless you can somehow apply it to all the low- and mid-range stuff, while excluding the high end.
Both for the reason FlyinS stated and the fact that vorpals and everything seem "required" by pugs. I mostly pug (even though I have a great guild) and don't want to have to deal with that.

I have a question will the +50% exp apply to the open area objectives or just the npc missions?

It will effect everything inside a quest as its applied to the level xp modifier before any other bonuses. So optionals will be worth allot more too.

Old adventure areas have a secret base XP, so they also go up, it just doesnt show it. New adventure areas seems to be a set non-scaleable XP, thus will probably not be effected.

Because the last couple were flops? Sorry, not looking forward to a 2+ hour event where maybe 10 people get called on to win a potion.

It's painfully obvious Turbine is grasping at straws now. Another weekend of massive lag, poorly run events, and uber loot to make more millionaires. Plat is practically useless as it is...ask all the plat farmers who keep sending me tells.

Actually, not surprised at all. The 2nd year should be much harder than the 1st; unless you are WoW that is.

I think Turbine needs to push adds for new modules harder, sell T-Shirts and buttons on-line, etc. to draw new blood in. They seem to have decided that their market for DDO is limited to the hardcore gamers, and they're busy making that self-fulfilling.

IMHO, the people who quit over this or that since I've started playing were goners anyway*. It's human nature to be unhappy.

* for contrast: Star Wars Galaxies is an example of a real game ending nerf.

Just something I thought I'd pass along from the late Endaria (for those who don't know, Varro's 'late wife' because my hubby left the game lol)... a conversation we had the other night:

Spouse: "I'm having the guys over for Magic on Monday so they can stay out of your hair for your thing"
Me: "Thanks. Not trying to ignore you but when you dont have something to do... you're in here leering over my shoulder."
Spouse: "I just get bored"
Me: "Yeah but you don't see me in there trying to get your attention when you're watching Smallville. Why don't you start playing Vangard again?"
Spouse: "Because it sucks."
Me: "What??? After you dogged on MY game and we had to buy upgrades just so you could play the stupid thing, now it 'sucks'???"
Spouse: "Remember when we tried LOTRO? Seeing how that game looked WITHOUT eating all my system resources was the end for me. I have the settings turned all the way down, and I still lag out and die in VG."
Me: "Told you."
Spouse: "I don't think I'm gonna play any MMO for a while. Just save money."
Me: "I think you should play something. Counterstrike or SOMETHING. You need something to have for a hobby...not saying to play DDO with me or anything. Actually... DONT play it with me. We about strangled each other when we did try to play together."
Spouse: *laughs* "Oh I see, don't wanna share?"
Me: "No, I just know how we are. We do better playing single player games together than multi together. We just yell at each other 'you're not doing this right or that' ... too critical of each other."
Spouse: "I guess. I heard they're having a +1 loot weekend again."
Me: "Yeah. I don't have any events planned that weekend for a change. Maybe I can get some XP for a change."
Spouse: "You know... DDO looks a LOT more fun than when I stopped playing."
Me: "Well if you do come back, just do me a favor and play on a different server than me..."

Thought that might brighten some of the Devs day :D

You know, the people who are using this as a platform to complain about other problems they have with the game should go start another topic on it and keep it out of here. If this doesn't appeal to you then fine, don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Personally I'm overjoyed to hear I came back just in time to enjoy such an event. I've never been active when they ran them in the past. My highest level pc is also only lvl 9. I'd love to run and play in some of the new higher level stuff and maybe this way I'll be able to get up to a high enough level to have that chance! (I've never done the dragon run, or the titan, and those are I'm sure old news and I've not even heard of the other cooler runs that I've yet to do!.)

Things like this are meant to appeal to a certain type of player, and for those of us that fit that it certainly does! If you don't happen to be such, don't use this as a place to complain there are plenty of places for that. A thread announcing something cool like this is -not- one of them.

-complaints about bad loot tables are an exception to this, we can never have enough of those :P

I couldn't agree more!!

I personally will make plans outside of this game for that weekend. The loot weekends bring out the worst in gamers. Everyone gets greedy, demanding, overly focused on performance of party members so that the instances are run as quickly and efficiently as possible. All so that people might get 3 more runs in before their eyes actually start to bleed and their butt cheeks fuse with the computer chair.

I've already stopped running Giant Hole (yes, that was intentional) quests a week after the instance was added. Everyone and their brother already has a paralyzer, banisher, smiter, etc. So what, now I can replace my +1 paralyzer with a +2 or +3? I think a true milestone will be set when the first +10 stat item drops...won't be this coming loot weekend, but it doesn't seem so far away.

50% xp?? isn't it already easy enough to get to 14? I come on around midnightish to play a bit before bed and it's nothing but LFM's for high lvl loot runs. All the groups are gonna be hitting Giant Hole for whatever quests are dropping the hot loot.

I'll disappear for that weekend and when I come back it will be like a grandparent listening to a grandchild rattle of the gifts which Santa had brung.

Please rollback the changes in 4.1 to enhance player's returns. I would love to keep the mana but too many crowd control spells were nuked. Point of Order, the web casting was going to be fixed pronto as promised by one of the developers. Just maybe have that and firewall casting time fixed!

It just might help many of the dedicated casters come back. Then again, fool me once and shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! When you take someone's fun out of playing the game, I sometimes wonder if the developers actually play the game. Why needless nerfs rather than new content. Hoohrah for the dragonmark as I yawningly say it.

On the forums, people got attacked for saying and thinking what they felt after they tested the new changes. Most of the people did not even take the time to test the changes. Yet, they would attack anyone who had tested them. They called everyone a crybaby and whiner rather than refute the arguements. Is it any wonder why the Company has to offer this type of inducement after the PR hit of nerf 4.1 errghh update 4.1.

Example of extreme nerfing was human versatility and evasion. There was no real reason given for making human versatity into a 20 second activated feat. That's an extreme nerf to a whole race. Now, how did that affect all the players. Next, evasion was taken away. I understand the reasons given. I would have been on the forums annoucing at least 2 months in advance the change to the game. I believe these 2 nerfs occurred back to back updates as a way to kill the batman builds. One, it would have given time for players to adjust and build the players accordingly. Two, it would have eliminated alot of player aggrevation.

I see no clear vision for DDO. It's had 3 developers in about a year of operation. Use 1 system and stick to it and offer more content rather than nerfs. Turbine wins the MMO of the year and it's already hurting for people.

Alot of the casters hate to be pigeoned into haste and buff bot with an occassional fod or pk. On the game, I find it harder to get people to run a quest as a caster in a pug group. Normally, at nite that's not a problem for the guild but it is during the day.

I am neither a Turbine supporter nor defender. I would like to see the game succeed. Ultimately, I am an older player that has enjoyed the friends that I have made playing the game.

Probably because this is indicative of the other problems? That this has to be done to placate the player base or try to draw them back after quitting is a sad testament to the direction the game is going. How long before they just do "Welcome Back Weekend XXI - Free Vorpals to Everyone Who Shows Up!"? The developers are breaking this game because this is the only way they know how to try to 'improve' the game. It may already be too late, but if not this isn't helping things.

Well here is another fine example of trying to bring people down. Look at all the characters you have man! Its no wonder that you are not excited about this as the people who are actually fairly new to the game. I am sure you have all the 5 major items for each and every one of your characters but I mean honestly if you can not see the positive impact this can have for future up and coming DDOers than that is truly sad. Seems to me that all the people that have all the big items would rather brag about having them then see anyone else get them. Now these are things that a detrimental to the game, and in my eyes the 50% XP bonus is the bigger factor for all those people that are stuck at levels 9 & 10 and trying to get over the hump.

It's really too bad that alot of people will find a way to knock down everything that Turbine does. A huge portion of the community has been requesting this exact event and I for one am glad to see it come.

Meanwhile, I believe if you can't see past your own "I want more stuff!" attitude to the damage "+1 loot" does to the game infrastructure, that that's what's truly sad.

And no, I don't have big fancy items. The best thing I've ever received is +6 strength gloves. (And that was on Risia! >.<)

I have exactly 2 disruptors, one of which none of my characters can use, 3 paralyzers only two of my characters can use, and 2 smiters. I have never looted a banisher or a vorpal and have none. I have never looted an item with a +6 attribute on it. I have one piece of raid loot that I got because no one else wanted it, and my Cleric was the only one who could really benefit for it (the dragon Concord Ring).

The difference between you and me is not that I've got a few pieces of loot, but that I see the greed in your post. It doesn't matter what damage these weekends does to the game, as long as you get the loot, right? Well there will come a time when the gold loses it's luster, the gems their sparkle, and the loot you wield it's power. If you could look past your own greed for the loot for just a moment and take a step back and look at the direction the game is going in, you'd know just as I do that the direction is self destruction Monty Haul and over inflation of mobs to the point that this is just WoW-lite.

And then I hope you'll be happy with your loot.

I just don't find this to be a great idea. could the devs maybe just show some love to te loyal fans who have stuck around? Six month reward, 1 year, etc... Devs,

Ok, no complaints about the 50% xp, and no complaints here about the +1 loot. In fact, I have a lvl 14.4 fighter and to be quite honest the best weapon he's ever pulled is a +3 True Law Dwarven Axe of Vertigo +8. Anyways that's not what I'm upset about.

For godsake, please give us at least 1 respec....

There are 2 things you can do to make old players come back to enjoy the game more:

1. Add new content that's worth a damn.
2. Give them a free respec.

First, Gianthold and the exploratory areas are awesome ideas, kudos to the devs for those implementations, but you just aren't kicking out material fast enough. And not only that, but in order to run the Stormreaver raid, I have to run PoP or some other quest that gets extremely boring after running it 60 times just to get the required relics. I'm not saying make the game uber easy, just provide us with alternatives for getting required items. PoP gives out insane loot/xp compared to many of the other quests in Gianthold and is quite honestly one of the easier quests in the area. So why would I want to run any of the other harder and less rewarding quests when I have to run one just to get the relics anyway?

Second, there have been several massively sweeping changes made to this game that I have been a loyal customer through. I was here when the Goodblade quests were nearly impossible to run solo, and when a vorpal was a mystical item that perhaps maybe one player on the entire server was able to loot. I stuck with you guys through the multiple nerfs to melees in the beginning and the recent nerfs to casters as well as the enhancement system changes. I even held back from leaving when I heard the auction house was being introduced....(this was like saying "welcome all spammers and plat farmers/sellers!! we no longer have integrity for our money system") I had come to rely on certain elements of the game being there when I built my fighter character and as the changes took place, I ended up having to reroll him 3 times over the last year and a half to get the fighter build that I wanted.

Now with the most recent enhancement system change, I no longer have HV, or my AC boost which were so nice, and I can no longer use certain items that I have grown accustomed to since my UMD is no longer high enough. I've lost about 15 HP, 1 point of strength, 4 points of AC, and several points on certain skills.

I REFUSE TO REROLL ANYMORE!!!

Please, keep your xp and loot weekends and give your dedicated player base something they deserve, a free respec, I can guarantee you this will also serve to bring back many of the players you've lost due to the disinterest in the game or dissatisfaction with the way it's been managed.

If you could look past your own greed for the loot for just a moment and take a step back and look at the direction the game is going in, you'd know just as I do that the direction is self destruction Monty Haul and over inflation of mobs to the point that this is just WoW-lite.

And then I hope you'll be happy with your loot.

Where do you get off calling me greedy first of all? The only thing I have said that I think the 50% XP is more beneficial than the loot is. Don't make me out to be the "Greedy" bad guy when you are the one that is bashing this whole thing. Nice try on the turnaround though!

we've announced plans for another weekend of looting and debauchery
See I think people are really missing the real picture here Turbine an authoritative figure is PROMOTING LOOTING on their grounds not to mention the debauchery that always follows the looting. I wonder if they will mind pillaging and plundering to go along with the looting.

I know that there are several well adjusted hobgoblins homes that I have to break into kill the owners there guards but I will leave the women and children cause if I kill them then who is going to swear a blood oath to hunt me down and kill me for killing there fathers and i cant destory some ones chance at revenge call me old fashioned.

And why stop with just hobgoblins I know of several dwarves that are hording lots of valuables. Not to mention some dragons or two I know of.

Anyway I really look forward to the pillaging and plundering I hope the 12 dont take mind to it wish I knew who they where they sound in need of some help in offloading some extra baggage.

Get over it, people. Maybe some of us DON'T already have a complete set of all the best loot in the game yet.

I don't have anything approaching a complete set. I have 0 vorpals, banishers, smiters, disruptors, etc. I have 1 greater bane weapon. One.

I'm still fully against another +1 loot weekend and still feel it's the opiate of the masses.

06-04-2007, 01:51 PM

Where is this huge portion that was requesting this event? I dont recall seeing an outcrying for it anywhere. As a matter of fact what i do remember is people making a joke about us getting one after the last update was so well received. Low and behold as predicted we got one.

Good god, if the sky started raining $1000 bills, you people would complain that your lawn was getting cluttered! SHEESH. People keep saying, "Why doesn't Turbine listen to its players and do something other than opiates for the masses?" but they FORGET just how many threads and posts have ASKED for another loot/xp weekend. Apparently, "Turbine doesn't listen to its players" REALLY means "Turbine doesn't listen to ME SPECIFICALLY".

Get over it, people. Maybe some of us DON'T already have a complete set of all the best loot in the game yet.

well that is a good point for the newer players. It's kinda sad to see a game like this that i anticipated for years get beat up by it's players. We have great character building posibilities, the lag is no where near things like GFay on another game. We acually don't have to run for 30 mins. to get some where and just look at the great gafix for our sky water characters. You get to fight dragons before lvl 9,000,000 after 6 months camping the same frikin' spot and fighting other players for space it nthe quest.

one of my only opportunities to find some better gear, to me the game is still incredibly difficult. I have none of the ultra-cool items, that people refer too. But, in order for me to progress past level 4 quests, alot of solo'ing because PuG's are dicey at best, I need to find better gear. I do have a couple of nice multi-attribute weapons, and this will be one of the few chances I have. My +3 longsword is getting alot of perm. wear. Which I found on the last weekend. I realize some will say that's my fault, 'cause I don't go vendor browsing, or utlize the AH. But, personally I don't want to waste my time. I want to get my two quarters worth each day. ;) I will have to say that once I realized the ease of SC, I shamelessly farmed that for the little bit of gear I do now have, which is spread amongst all my alt's, until they fixed it.
Some(most) of the content is still new to me, I have yet to even run maybe 2/3 of the available content. I don't want to rush to the top, nor could I, I could however power-level myself by running the quests in a 'correct' order. It would almost be impossible to avoid leveling up quickly, by having the quests work on three difficulty settings(esen. 4 /w solo.). And, I am now in the process of trying to go in order with my newest alt's after this occured to me. I held off leveling Chunkss to 8th, to get the quests that I had not done through elite, in order to leave no xp point behind. By that time I was rank 3 8th, and could have had more if I could have gotten through Cata. pt 5 I think on hard/solo. I tell ya', to me, one of the MOST important things I can work for is my doggie staff, I try to get the Totemic Staff as soon as possible(pre-Hauler). Now, with the newest alt's I want to follow the quest level.
So, my vote is for continuing the bonus weekend's, since as of yesterday, Chunkss, recieved the message in the SC xp dialogue *Excessive Rep.* -90% xp(base for elite 524xp, but I will still do it for the gear, 'cause I just pulled a +1(i think) Axiomatic khopesh of tendon slice, I'll probably never use it, but it's worth 32k gp. That's a rare find for me, but the +1 studded leather with 3/day MM will definately be used alot I'm sure! ;) I still only have about 20k pp, if I pooled it all. And wands ain't cheap...nevermind trying to buy a good weapon or armor, if i pooled it all I could buy maybe 1 or 2 things, and be completely broke across the spectrum.

Could we up the time-out timer in the forum's? It always cuts me off, the countdown is way to quick for folks like me who actually take time to type. Never fails, write(type), write(type), write(type), ooops sorry we dumped you're entire statement into the ether. It has made me want to cry on at least 3 or 4 occasions.

That's it right there. I have a couple of lowbies I need to work on. And the XP boost won't hurt that. Oh sure, I'll probably have my 2 higher characters loot running GH for a while. My fighter needs a +5 MFP:D :D and +6 str gloves. But really nothing else. I have no need for any more weapons. Got my vorpal, disrupter, paralyzer, crippler, etc already. After that, my lowbies get there just attention....and lotsa cash.

As many of you have already noticed in the newsletter, we've announced plans for another weekend of looting and debauchery when all loot gains another level and you can earn 50% more XP! Our second Return to DDO Weekend invites all former players to return and experience the new challenges and adventures that they've missed! In addition, all players will receive:

The bonuses will be in effect from Friday morning June 15th through Monday morning, so plan for the adventure of your life!

OK, quick question. I highlighted the 2 points in question.

1) Is it just chests and not end rewards that get +1 to levels

or

2) Is it all loot and not just chests?

On a more serious note, there have been some rumors of +Tchurvul the Vulture skulking around the city. If you see him, consider him a threat and protect yourselves an he has many minions he can summon.

I plan on visiting as many of the servers I can during the weekend and I may even offer random individuals a chance at some small prizes - but don't worry, I'll be keeping an eye out for +Tchurvul.

Personaly I don't like the idea of the ex boost or the loot. I played the pen and paper way back in the day. Part of the experience was being rewarded for your deeds. Yes it can be tedius to level up the higher you get but that's part of the game. I have bought or found all my gear and that's fine. You should receive the appropriate level of gear for the challenge.

Well personally I like the idea of the occasional Loot weekend, but I tell you one thing i have noticed. If I was one of the Dev's I dont think I would read these forums much. I have only started reading them and this will probably annoy the mods and other readers but a lot of people on these forums need to step back and have a good look at them selves.

I am sure the Devs are doing the best they can and we have a great game all this negative post about who dosent like this or that does nothing. So on closing I say sit back and remeber the reason you stuck with this game and let the Devs do there jobs.

So +1 and 50% starts Friday morning and ends Monday morning. Any chance a dev will post the actual start/end times? If they perform the same function as last time, it will be turned on while the game is up and running. I'd like an idea on a time frame. Friday morning could be 4am est or 10am est, same for Monday.

I can't speak for the Coin Lords, but I will be making a special effort on my part to focus on events on the affected servers tonight.

What kind of events? Well, I have been playing a little dice game all weekend so far where if you beat my die roll, you win your choice of a few prizes. I have also been playing a fun coal-throwing game in the PvP pits and even a short game of Find the Loot (which involves me hiding something and everyone going out to find it.) Nothing involved, just a few short games that are fun, don't detract you from enjoying the bonus XP and treasures this weekend and give you a chance at something exclusive you can only get from me.

Why not the powers that be at DDO give everyone that was affected by todays 30 second throw out. (Dev's you should have a list of who was on) Anyway, my suggestion is to email each of those affected a +2 or +3 tome of their choice. When they click on the tome it would have a drop down allowing them to choose what kind of tome they want. It would I think for the purpose of the game have to be bound to them.

Odd... I came back for the weekend and haven't had any lag or slow load times yet, in fact the game seems to run smoother than before. I was a bit upset about my server coming down for emergency maintenance but it's not like it was planned or anything. Stuff like this happens and we move on. The problem is, I do read, walk outside, exercise, enjoy the company of others...all the things that 'gamers' supposedly don't do according to many condescending peebrains posting here.

This is the game time, special bonus weekend, plans were made.

Tomorrow is father's day, NOW is the time to play DDO, and I can't...I think I'm entitled to gripe a little.

Yeah, I work a crappy 6 days a week job and have a family and do alot outside of work and such. I get saturday nights to play this game and stay up late. I could care less about special loot and such. I basically pay for 4 nights a month I can play. Thats now down to 3, who cares about an extension to a night I cant play. This has made up my mind, WoW here I come.

Came back to the game after about a year and I dont see a reason to reactivate my account just yet.

It seems there is barely anyone on these days, Sarlona that is.

Maybe I've missed something; oh well I have 2 days left, I will try again.

I can't speak for the Coin Lords, but I will be making a special effort on my part to focus on events on the affected servers tonight.

So keep an eye out for me on the affected servers tonight, if you see me, let's play a game - you might win!

I'd keep an eye out for you if I weren't going to be having Fathers day dinner with my kids  ....(but the servers will probly be down for a third time anyway)

You couldn't find people on Sarlona? Are you role playing a blind person?

Thank you to Sir Lawrence and the coin lords, I saw a lucky subscriber find a vorpal sickle in the second instance of Gianthold on Xoriat last night.

Are the servers down again today?

Well once again I got screwed by downed servers. What a waste of vacation time from work...

An extra day of +1 loot an 50% XP doesnt really cover it.

The whole welcome back weekend for returning players gave them more of a reason to stay away than ever...

Looks like it's time to go check out Vanguard!

So if we pay 15 bucks a month, that's .50 cent a day.
Since I coudn't play on 3 days at times when servers were down, does that mean I'm only going to get charged $13.50 this month?
Although, that wouldn't put a dent in the money I lost from taking off from work for nothing today, it would be fair.

Lets see thats $1.50 every player is getting charged for times we had problems or couldn't play. I wonder how many DDO subscriptions there are, several thousand?
Turbine do the math, and figure out how much free maoney you just made :)
GREAT JOB, I'll add this to the successful white collar crime list!

I work at a Court House. I'm going to have to print out the DDO Terms of Service, and then I'll see if DDO Subscriptors are entitled to file a lawsuit!

Quick question for you... does working at a court house make you an attorney or something? If so, that would mean everyone who works at a University smart? I only assume you are not a lawyer since most attorneys tell everyone what they do within the first two to three words of their first sentence of every conversation they have had since graduating law school.

Back to the point..Although I often feel that there should be some sort of monetary compensation for extended downtime, the EULA covers downtime and you not being compensated for it. Working at a courthouse you should know that you can contract your way around the law and/or what seems right/justified. That is why good contract lawyers make big bucks.

WOW if you think server down time sucked, check this out.

I found all my primo weapons had lost the bane effects and descriptions on all my toons on the xoriant server.

I spent over 4 hours waiting for the next level of GM to assist me to never get a response except an email saying they have closed my tickets..lmao..

My muckbane has no bane effect listed in description or in the combat damage logs.
I lost tons of greater banes from all my freeking toons and now you want me to start paying again to play this game........LMAO!

Hell with down time get some real customer support to fix issues with players and not prolong the wait or bad expereince of not getting the proper help.
Hell they got voice coms in game HAVE YOUR GM"S USE IT TO TALK TO THE PLAYERS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!! Dam cut and paste responces suck and get nuthing accomplished.

The only way you could pull this off is if you could prove that Turbine somehow had unjust enrichment due to this down time and that the down time was intentional.

1. They were not unjustly enriched as server maintenance etc. is part of the EULA agreement you sign when you enter the game. They had to PAY some IT techs to come in on a weekend to fix the problem. Not sure if you know what the going rate for IT techs are, but they ain't cheap.
2. It's virtually impossible to prove that Turbine intentionally sabotaged their own servers and not only that, even if they did, the money that they would make from this weekend would be no where near enough to cover the loss of revenue of people leaving the game.

WOW, I hope you call Turbine's Customer Support to get that resolved, or some type of compensation. It would be easy enough to prove if you traded a GM PC a Muckbane that had no bane on it.
I hope they do something for you.
If that happened to me, I would beyond wanting to quit the game...
That is way worse than downtime.

1) I'm sure they called in exempt on call server analysts for the fixes. No one would use a contractor for such things. So It's likely they didn't lose any money there.
2) Ya I'm sure they lost a good amount from people leaving the game due to the server hickups all weekend and Monday. So does that make all the people who stayed suckers?

Hey, one of my Guildies told me on Sat. not to even try getting on, the server suck so bad that some players were giving away their belongings and canceling their account. But I got on about 30 min. later on the same server and despite the long log on it all ran normally. Ran a couple of quests in a PUG got some good loot and lots of XP. No complaints here! Many thanks to the Turbine/DDO crew!

I think its funny how every time there is unscheduled server downtime, people start crying foul and that they should be compensated. It happens people. Server loads go up that dramatically, there's going to be hiccups in the system. Regardless of whether they have outside contractors for IT or in house, those problems take time to fix. When I played WOW, you know that little game that has ten times the subscriber base that DDO has and thus ten times the revenue, it would have three and four day long server downtime. And low and behold, the same thing would happen with people crying foul. Vanguard is going to have the same thing. Hell, the only MMO that I have played that didn't have intermittent down time was City of Heroes/City of Villains, and that probably due to the low server volume. So if you are going to cry foul and want compensation every time a a server crashes in a MMO, you are better off to give them up altogether. There is no crash proof server or games, its going to happen, sometimes for several days at a time. So quit your complaining and deal with it like an adult, because whether its right or wrong, EULA is going to protect the developer and publisher from any type of legal recourse from server downtime...

I personally didnt get a chance to participate all too much in this event. my wife however did and many of my guildmates. I personally dont blame anyone for the problems, things happen. overall the game is very enjoyable and few problems exist on a regular basis. for the 50cents or so a day we pay for the use of the game i dont think anyone should be complaining. /:eek:

with that i probably wouldnt recommend doing another such weekend during a holiday were people will have other things to do/planned. do these things on an off weekend where max participation will be most likely. also i would recommend not doing this after a major or minor update or hotfix event. it seemed to flow much better the first two times you guys had these events.

I enjoy these events and hope you continue to have them on a regular or irregular as you see fit basis! :D
