View Full Version : Persistant Group on Sarlona

04-20-2007, 07:11 PM
I am starting two "fresh off the boat" persistent teams that will be joining the greater hub of the dedicated teams guild lead by Thalion. The groups are run Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 8 and 11 pm EST.

If this team doesn't suit your style of play you can check out the other groups in The Dedicated Teams here:

Players interested in this group can post here or message Garmas on Sarlona. Alternatively they can email ddo_phainen@yahoo.com

The rules of this group are as follows:

04-20-2007, 07:12 PM
Rule #1: Players must show maturity and respect.

Players in this group must exhibit maturity and respect their fellow teammates/guild. Rudeness, bad behavior, and lack of team work will, if not corrected, lead to ejection from the group. Good will and team cohesion are more important than making sure we have a cleric for example.
Sometimes people don’t see eye to eye, and that is fine. But, if a person cannot deal with differences/disagreements in an adult, mature manner they are not the kind of player this group is looking for. I cannot stress this one enough. The kind of behavior described above can not and will not be tolerated to any lengths and I will not hesitate to remove the offending player immediately.

Rule #2: This group is a true team

These rules are created to mirror the table top gaming experience as much as possible and will not be changed without a very good reason. That being said, things are open to discussion. Feel we need to implement a new rule or possibly change one? Have an opinion on which quest we should be doing or that we shouldn’t be taking on one just yet? Let’s discuss it as a group. Our success and/or failure rests equally upon all our shoulders.

Rule #3: A player's PC is their own.

The group can not dictate to any single member what he or she must play in regards to class or abilities. This rule also extends to play style, like disapproving of a cleric that does not sit in back and heal for the entire quest.
It is your character, your creation. Play him or her as you envision them. Contrary to popular DDO belief, there is more than one way to play a character class and I hope to see many unique PCs in this group but also be mindful that you should not neglect your teammates either. If you have a skill that is helpful to the group you should be using it to further the goals of the team.
Please keep in mind a successful group needs balance and chances of our survival increase significantly if the group is well rounded. That being said, I personally enjoy having all manner of group make-ups as that increases the ability of the team to find new ways to accomplish their goals and overcome challenges. Which is why this became a rule.

Rule #4: No twinking or making use of the player auction/brokers.

Players may make purchases from the market and shops, sell their spoils to vendors and trade/give items to team mates. Absolutely no sending items to your characters or buying from auction or a broker. The choice to ban these practices stems from the imbalance it creates in the team and it also robs the group of a decent challenge at their level. We are not power gamers in this team and should be relying on sharing our resources/treasure with each other to make us more powerful as a whole.

Rule #5: Voicechat is a feature not a requirement.

This team accommodates roleplaying, therefore voicechat is not mandatory. Players that wish to use it to talk to fellow teammates may do so at their leisure but may not expect other teammates to use voice because they do not want to type.
If you are not a roleplayer that is fine, you can say so, but you must accept that some of us will.

Rule #6: PCs in this group may only adventure with other team members.

Hence the name “dedicated.” We play together only. Sorry you avid DDO players you :)

Rule #7: Quests are consistent with player levels
There is no need that I can think of to continuously wipe in difficult quests because we just had to set the difficulty to max. (because we are all so leet after all :P ) If our party is level 2, we do level 2 quests. Not level 3, 4, or level 2 on elite. (which pushes it up to 3)
One shouldn’t be concerned with getting loads of xp quickly. You will find the xp comes much quicker when you aren’t paying off so much debt.
If the group feels we can do a particularly hard quest we should discuss it and if everyone agrees we can but what I don’t want to see is things like high AC tanks browbeating a squishy into entering an elite quest where death is all but certain for them multiple times. Not gonna happen. Either we all agree or we don’t go, period.

Rule #8: Slow and steady wins the race.

I am very anti Zerg. Rushing ahead of the group. Starting before everyone even gets there. Not doing the optional portions before completing the quest. We will not be doing any of these. Take it nice and steady and work as a group.

Rule #9: Players found to not follow the rules of the group will be removed.

Zero tolerance policy. I play games to have fun not to be a baby sitter. Either we can all play nice and work together while following the rules or the group can say goodbye to our willful new friend as he or she attempts to test the boundaries.
Examples of not following the rules include but are not limited to:

Playing a DT character outside of the group.
Soloing (save the quests that only are for solo play to get the favor)
Using the auction house or broker to purchase powerful items (twinking.)
Mailing items/equipment from other characters to your DT toon. (also twinking.)

Rule #10: These rules can be altered should the need arise to do so.

If the group needs to change rules we will do so after we discuss the changes.

Rule #11: Have fun.

Nuff said.

EDIT: Removed rule three as it was a throw back from when permadeath was still a concept for this group. As we are now a non permadeath team the rule does not apply. If someone feels that we should not remove the old rule #3, please discuss it in the thread.

Hi there,

This sounds like a fun challenge. I'll join up for the cause. Not sure what I'll play but thinking rouge of some kind (UMD specialist I think I just can't get away from spells of some kind).

04-23-2007, 10:44 PM
I may be dropping the permadeath concept due to lack of interest. If I do would you still be interested Raven?

04-23-2007, 11:42 PM
Yes I would still be interested.

Stratevera Rouge/Sorc combo I believe is what I will play

04-24-2007, 08:40 AM
I'm just curious how a PD would work with a persistant group? If you guys make it to level 5 (say) and one character dies, what happens? You lose a party member (unless you are going to bring a level 1 along with you to the level 5 dungeons). Won't that be a problem?

04-24-2007, 09:52 AM
It means they have to catch back up to the group. But as long as players are not bum rushing everything death is easily avoided in this game. Usually I find that when one player dies in a perma group it was a really bad situation and more than one drops.

I think for the perma group because it is a dedicated team I will allow the use of shrines for raises as well provided someone can bring the body to it. Divine intervention or something :P But after all shrines are used if you still die, the toon is toast. I want to make it as lenient as possible while still providing all the same benefits to group play that permadeath encourages.

04-24-2007, 12:30 PM
After much discussion with several different people I have decided to remove permadeath from this group. It really isn't going to work in this format without causing problems for people that just want to play with a dedicated group of players.

04-24-2007, 02:42 PM
Probably a good idea. Although I have nothing against PD (I'm giving serious thought to joining a PD guild myself some time soon), I don't think it works well in this format. Too many potential issues. It's hard enough keeping a dedicated group full sometimes, hehe. I've had to replace about one person a month from our group, and I honestly feel like we have a very good group of players, myself excluded :D

Welcome to the guild!

04-24-2007, 03:27 PM
You should join The Sublime. Its a cool group of people on Thelanis.

04-26-2007, 05:20 PM
We still have four openings on this team. If you are interested in a dedicated party and thursday nights are good leave a message here. If discussion is needed on play date we can talk about what would work for everyone. I'm flexible. :)

05-02-2007, 05:12 PM
We may have a third person joining the team. I will post character name and class information once it is confirmed.

That will leave one spot to fill in order to start the group but three spots are still vacant total.

If anyone is interested in joining a dedicated team please post here or email me at ddo_phainen@yahoo.com

Please remember that the date/time is not set in stone yet so if something works better for you don't hesitate to say so. If it works out for the group we can change the group's play time.

05-03-2007, 04:00 PM

I think we may have a 4th but only if we can move to tuesday nights during the summer months. What do you think. Not sure what class yet. Perhaps a bard.

05-04-2007, 05:06 PM
Time is pretty negotiable for me. If tuesdays work better for everyone I don't mind running on that day instead. Tallfellow is going to be joining us and I believe he said he is going to roll up a fighter. So if we can get a fourth we can start her up with the last two spots pending for late showers.

05-04-2007, 05:25 PM
Those who are joining this team, feel free to run the solo quests, including the ones in the square. (Arachnophobia, defending haverdasher, etc...)
Just don't run any quests that are team based, save those ones for game night so we can all stay at the same power level.

I look forward to getting started. See you all soon.

05-05-2007, 08:26 PM
Are you folks still looking? I've read through the post and the rules you've set down really seem to mesh with my play style - truth be told, I've been looking for a gang like this. I have Tuesdays and Thursdays free after this week (final exams this week). I'd love to bring a cleric into the fold, but I am open on the class and race thing.

EDIT: I have a friend who would probably love to get involved once his finals are over next week also if there is another slot open.

05-06-2007, 12:09 PM
Hi, Tuesdays seem to be a recurring theme for this group, so Tuesdays might be a great day. Haven't heard from Tallfellow yet on whether or not Tuesday works for him or not but if it works for all, I'm definitely good with that day.

And yes we have 2 definite players on the team.

2 pending

and 2 definite open spots. If you want to join us you are welcome, as is your friend. That would bring us up to a solid 6

05-06-2007, 08:54 PM
The only issue, which I may not have made clear when I posted the last message (it was late), is that this week is my last week of classes and final exams. Therefore, I would not be available until Tuesday or Thursday of next week. If this is a problem, I understand completely.

05-07-2007, 05:22 PM
It's not an issue at all, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure how Raven feels about it but if we don't have at least four players this week we can't start anyway.

We do need to figure out what day works best for all. It sounds as if tuesdays will work out the best but I need a full group concensus. To have a full group concensus we need to know who is in the group. :P

I haven't heard anything from Tallfellow in a while so I'm not too sure if he is actually confirming his spot in the group. I will send another email.

Just to recap so we are on the same page. So far we have myself and Raven who have given a definite yes to the group.

Raven has a friend that may be joining. And then there is Tunrik and his friend who would be joining us (possibly?) next week. Assuming all of us are game this makes five. If Tallfellow confirms his spot, 6.

Please let me know if someone is a definite or still on the fence. In the interest of getting this party started I'd like to make sure there are spots for people that actually want to be part of this dedicated team for sure.

Tunrik, from our communications it sounds like you are a definite yes but please confirm that for me anyway. Also if both you and Raven could contact your respective friends and have them contact me either here or via pm, email me, whatever to confirm their spots as well, I can then add them to the team list.

05-07-2007, 10:35 PM

I am interested in joining and can start playing after Thursday May 11. Tuesday or Thursday works for me.

If there is room or a slot opens, let me know.

Dwarf Barbarian

05-08-2007, 05:12 PM
I now have inviting ability into the guild so just let me know when you guys are available and I can log onto Sarlona and send you an invite when it is convenient for you. I'm in the EST time zone so I can log in to get you set up in the guild anywhere from 6 pm to midnight EST.

05-08-2007, 08:57 PM
I am a definite, though with classes finishing up and finals this week, I have not had a chance to get online. I will be available on either Tuesday or Thursday starting next Tuesday the 15th. I would prefer Thursdays to Tuesdays, but it isn't a major issue and definitely not a deal-breaker.

It is my intention to create a lawful-good cleric of the Sovereign Host, particularly Dol Arrah and Dol Dorn. Won't bore you with backstory or anything, but a pretty straightforward character by the numbers.

My cousin is also definitely interested but has a scheduling snag. He is also going through end-of-semester blues: finals, end-of-semester concerts and performances, and so forth. He is interested in playing a ranger with a ranged-combat focus, but he is not married to any one class idea and will fill out with whatever we need/want. However, he cannot participate until after the 24th. He understands if this makes it impossible for him to join up. If he had the time, he'd be saying this right now. I'll get him to contact you directly, though.

05-08-2007, 09:09 PM
Hey. I'm Tunrik's cousin. I am interested in playing in the group. After reexamining my schedule, I figured out I could start as early as May 15th. I would prefer to start on the 17th or later. I will probably play a ranged combat Ranger, but as Tunrik has said, I'm not apposed to filling a hole. I am a definite yes.

05-08-2007, 09:36 PM
Hi guys,

My friend is a definite. He has named and created his character.

Adden Jund a barbarian warriores

the tuesday requirement is only for the summer. He is an avid fisherman and has a standing tournament on thursdays for the next couple of months after that tuesday or thursday would be fine. Thanks

05-09-2007, 11:58 AM
Good Stuff guys. Thanks all for replying. I will update the list.

So we know that one person needs to play on tuesdays for a while, if this is ok with everyone I think we'll go with tuesdays and possibly switch to thursdays later on down the road if need be.

Hello, Leonin. I understand about school. We won't be starting until the 15th anyway so no worries. sound good everyone? Plan to meet up on the 15th?

I am just waiting on one last confirmation and we should have a full group assuming nobody drops.

I regretfully have to assume that Tallfellow is no longer interested. I've emailed several times without a response so I will be emailing CH4 to see if he wants to join us. He will make member 6 if he decides to join.

05-09-2007, 01:59 PM
Sounds good. I will create my character this weekend, kill Blacktail, shake-down the Miller, and so forth. I will get in touch you with so I can be guilded.

And, glad to see you hear, Leonin!

05-09-2007, 05:20 PM
Anyone else interested in a new dedicated team please continue to post. We can easily break up into two groups to accommodate more than 6 and it is a good time to get in on the ground floor with Dedicated teams since most teams fill up quick.

We will find a place for you!

05-09-2007, 08:15 PM
I'd be happy to join a Tuesday or Thursday Dedicated group. I'm still fairly new to DDO, but i've been playing PnP for about 20 yrs off and on. i'm currently running with shimiha_kakita's Dedicated group on Monday nights, and having a great time! Thursday's would be better for me but i can swing either ore. let me know if another group starts up.

05-09-2007, 08:30 PM
Hi there,

Coovin (my friend) is set:

Toon is Adden Jund Level 1 Barbarian

05-09-2007, 08:52 PM
Hi guys,

I just read the posts. I'm definitely in.

I'm all set with

Dornfelder, level 1 Dwarf barbarian

I've done the solos in the square. Should I do any other solo's before Tuesday?

Thanks Phainen for setting this up.

Looking forward to it

05-09-2007, 11:33 PM
Hey CH,

I am unaware of any other solos besides the square and the wavecrest. Anyone else aware of others?

Keep in mind that we are talking solo only quests, not group quests that offer a solo option.

05-10-2007, 12:05 AM
Hey Tc,

If more people show interest a second group may indeed form. It would only take one more person stepping up to split the group into two starting teams of four. I am also not opposed to the idea of starting another group to run on Thursdays along side the Tuesday group.

How about this. Group poll.

What would everyone say if we started a group on Tuesday for those that preferred that day and one for Thursday for those who would rather play that day instead?

Who would rather play on Tuesdays? Who would rather play on Thursdays? Who could commit to joining both groups? With as many people as we have here now showing interest it would be easy to split the group between those nights since I would be a present body on each team and we could add more players from there as more show interest to fill up both.

Just throwing the idea out there to try and be as inclusive and flexible as possible for you guys. Share your thoughts.

05-10-2007, 07:50 AM
I am pretty flexible as far as Tuesday or Thursday and could even play both nights, occasionally, if a team needed to get filled up because of last minute player constraints. My wife works on Tuesday night so it is less of a hassle for me to go Tuesday (role playing is easier when everyone in earshot is also roleplaying). Since you guys use keyboard though, this may not be a problem hahaha

How would you work it? Would each night require a different toon?

For now,

My preference is Dornfelder on Tuesday and he is available to float to Thursday if need arises.

My second choice would be to put Dornfelder on Thursday if you need the Thursday team filled out and everyone else has schedule issues. {I can type quietly and close my door :)}

Thanks for clarifying the solo. I stopped at the right spot so I'm set. Only thing left is to coordinate a time to meet Garmas for joining the team.

Dornfelder, level 1 Barb

05-10-2007, 09:11 AM
If I were to even entertain the idea to do two nights it would require commitment from those involved. Occassional teaming doesn't suit a dedicated team very well so I would prefer if we were to go this route that people commit to the nights they know they can show up for and not join on a night they know they will be absent from often.

Each night, should a person choose to join both if we go this route, would require a different character. We don't want those who play both nights to overshoot the rest of the group in experience and power.

05-10-2007, 11:39 AM
I'm in for a Thursday group, and can start whenever we enough people.

05-10-2007, 06:25 PM
I have accrued some wife aggro. Pulling off both night for me...probably not a good idea. But tuesdays has been my night so that works. I can switch to thursday as well its an either or for me not both. We can start with 4, but some of the higher end quests really should have 6. I ran Cleansing the Air with 5 4th levels and 1 5th level and we wiped once before completion....it seems that would be a nightmare with just 4. Having said that I am all about the spirit of decmocracy and will go with whatever the group decideds.

05-10-2007, 08:23 PM
I definitely agree with you Raven, that many of the quests are best run with 6 players, but would you agree that even if the group started out with four we would most likely fill the next two spots by the time we were ready to tackle the content that needed a full group?

As far as the two groups thing. I didn't post the idea to make people feel they had to play in both. I'm just trying to make it easier to accommodate everyone's ideal play time and at the same time allow for more people to join in the fun who want to be part of a persistent team. That way anyone who really would rather play Thursday gets the optimal play time date in addition to those who really need to play on Tuesdays.

But it is after all just an idea so its really just discussion at this point.

05-10-2007, 11:00 PM
Well, I simply cannot manage both nights. One or the other is fine with me. Provided both groups will be following the rules originally posted by Phainen (the play style is what drew me).

Group size is not an issue in my opinion. Six is nice, four is good. I don't think there is anything out there that a group of smart people willing to exercise care and basic strategies can't do. As a cleric, I actually prefer slightly smaller groups to the full one because resource management is easier, but I can adapt either way.

05-10-2007, 11:27 PM
Yeah... I'm the same way. I could only do one night. Either work for me though. I may change my character to fill out a team better if we break into 2 groups. As of right now I have a Ranger with the solo stuff done. Let me know what's going on.

05-11-2007, 09:18 AM
I agree Phainen that by the time we got to quests that really need more then 4 we could probably fill them in so starting with 4 is ok if that's what people want to do to accomadate their preferred times. I will start keeping track or you can PHainen just to see where we are at.

Stratevera (Raven) Tuesday
Adden (Coovin) Tuesday
TCmexman Thursday
Phainen Gramas Tuesday and Thursday
Dornfelder (CH4) Tuesday

Just post and I will edit this to keep track

05-11-2007, 10:17 AM
TCmexman (nameless as of yet) Thursday

05-11-2007, 11:31 AM
I can commit to both nights if enough people need to play on thursdays to warrant splitting the team.

05-11-2007, 05:06 PM
HI guys,

CH4 (Dornfelder) Tuesday

05-11-2007, 11:41 PM
Hi guys i update my main post on this. We now have 4 comitted for Tuesday, and 2 for Thursdays with Phainen being on both days. Looks likes tuesdays are shaping up. Keep the posts coming.

05-12-2007, 11:40 AM
I'm pretty sure Tunrik and his friend are going to opt for Thursdays also so that would end up four and four if that's true.

05-12-2007, 03:21 PM
Hi guys

Is the plan to play Tuesday from 8 - 11 EST? If so, that works for me.

Should I come early to allow time to join the guild?

Looking forward to playing

05-12-2007, 06:51 PM
Yes the Tuesday group's first meeting is going to be on the 15th.

05-13-2007, 09:18 AM
Hello, I am new to Sarlona. My main server is Mabar, but would like to try a RP guild at least once a week or so. My husband and I share this account and we started running out of character slots, so we each went to different servers.
Anyhoo, I would be interested in joining one of your groups if there is still room. I am willing and able to roll up a new character for the group, just let me know what is needed. Just know, I've not played a caster class yet. I can handle myself with a tank, pally or rogue just fine tho. The new character's name will be Tashin Kel shan. (regardless of what I roll up).

thank you in advance.

the wife of this account. :D

05-13-2007, 09:59 AM
Hi Glass,

Thanks for the post. Of course you can join us. Would you prefer Tuesdays or Thursdays? Both groups are starting up this week.

05-13-2007, 10:03 AM
Hrmmm... well, I have no problem filling out the Thursday team instead of the Tuesday team.

05-13-2007, 10:20 AM
Hey guys,

Thanks raven for keeping a list.

I went back to the third post of the thread to update the two groups. It looks like we have two groups thus far of four, with glass being a fifth on either team. Still haven't heard anything from Tallfellow.

Glass, if you'd like to play a cleric the Tuesday team could use you but don't let that determine what you will play or on what night. If a cleric does not appear on the Tuesday team I can dual class garmas into a wizard/cleric.

Still three spots left in anyone else out there is interested.

Tuesday team starts on the 15th
Thursdays on the 17th.

I look forward to seeing you all there. Come a few minutes early if you can and I will get you all invited to the guild. The thursday team may need to start unguilded since my second character may not have guilding ability by then but I'll see what I can do.

05-13-2007, 10:50 AM
I can try a cleric. I'll probably roll one to learn the basics of it and see how I like it. If I can handle it, then I will keep it, if not, I'll roll up a paladin and back up heal with wands till lvl 4 when I get spells.

Tuesday sounds fine to me. I can also help on Thursdays if needed, as real life permits that is.

See you in game..

05-13-2007, 11:45 AM
ok, tried a cleric and found I don't have the patience for it. I rolled a paladin instead. The name is Hyldr Kel Shan (Tashin was already taken) I'll roll up a sorce or wizzy just to try em out tho.

05-13-2007, 12:12 PM
Hi Glass,

Play whatever class you like to play. Do you know what night you'd like to join yet?

05-13-2007, 12:19 PM
I'm gonna say Tuesday night.. and It'll be my new pally.

05-13-2007, 12:19 PM
I just want to make sure everyone understands what I mean by doing the solo quests.

There are 7 quests you can do before the group meets up to simulate prior adventuring experience before joining the group.

Taking Stock
Thwarting the Threat

The Miller's Debt
Defend Haverdasher
Home Sweet Sewer
An Explosive Situation

These are the solo quests and the only ones we should be doing before meeting up with the group. Please do them only once. This should put you at about 300 xp from Rank 4, or in other words around 2700 experience.

If you go over this you will level before the rest of the group does and will forever after affect their experience gain. So please don't do that. We should all be leveling together at least to start. I realize that eventually with people being absent they will fall behind but such is the breaks for missing a session. Let's start the group off on an even level please.

05-13-2007, 01:32 PM
gottem done, bio is written and am ready to go.. :)

05-13-2007, 06:51 PM
Okay, consider me confirmed for a Thursday preference then.

Looking over what we have so far, I am considering going Cleric/Paladin... perhaps a Templar of the Flame. I'll mull it over.

My character's name will be Devonin Hailed. See all those involved on Thursday. Looking forward to it.

05-13-2007, 07:47 PM
Looks like Dornfelder got a little crazy and over did it just a tad.

Let's consider Dornfelder benched... or boothed with an ale... for the moment.

Taking his place will be
Gror level 1 Barbarian.

Gror has followed the guidelines more closely and is just shy of rank 4 by about 300 ep. Sorry for any confusion these dwarf cousins may have caused.

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys Tuesday night. I'll be in the tavern at 7:45 EST unless that is not enough time to get all the guild items set-up in which case I can get Gror there earlier.

05-13-2007, 10:17 PM
I plan to stay with Tunrik, so I guess Thursday it is. Right now I have a Ranger ready to go. Could we get a list of each character for the two days so we can figure out if we need/want anything different? I'm up for playing anything. And what time would we start? Please remember that we may be in different time zones.

05-13-2007, 10:53 PM
I'm ready with a tough Dwarf named "Shippy Alebreath" fighter... see everyone thursday!

05-13-2007, 11:49 PM
Hi guys,

I think for the tuesday night group we will be all right even without a cleric. Of course, one would be nice but if Grama goes wiz/cleric, Glass with the Pally, and Stratevera with his bard levels we should be all right. I will see everyone there on tuesday (hopefully as my mom is in the hospital and very sick). So if I don't show Adden played by my friend will let you know. But it would be only that one seesion I would miss.

05-13-2007, 11:57 PM
I forgot about the bard levels Raven. In that case I may just stick straight caster to make sure I can get the more powerful spells later on.

Leonin, the listing of the parties is the third message down at the start of the thread.

05-14-2007, 02:55 PM
Hey Thursday group. Do we want some sort of caster/int rune opener? I have no problem making a switch. Just let me know.

05-14-2007, 11:18 PM
Up to you Leonin, play whatever you will enjoy the most. With a potion or clicky of fox cunning Sivvi can open int runes so its up to you.

05-15-2007, 12:11 AM
I am sad to announce that my mom passed away tonight; however, I will in fact be there to start our group as by tomorrow night I am going to need a major break from reality... So I say GAME ON!

05-15-2007, 01:51 AM
My deepest sympathies, Raven.

05-15-2007, 11:42 AM
I am terribly sorry for your loss, Raven. Are you sure you want to attend the first session and not take some time away?

05-15-2007, 12:04 PM

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

05-15-2007, 12:21 PM

My deepest condolences.

05-15-2007, 06:31 PM
Thank you all,

I appreciate all of your warm remarks. It has been a trying and long 3 days; however, crawling through a dungeon hits the spot perfectly I need to relax a little. See you all soon.

05-15-2007, 06:55 PM
Tuesday group. We are meeting in the wavecrest. The man known as Garmas has put up a posting about town calling on adventurers to explore the deeps of Xen'Drik. Are you ready to answer the call?

05-16-2007, 07:12 AM
Hi guys,

I really enjoyed playing last night. I liked the pace and the role playing was great. It will take me some time to get back into role playing and too 'find' Gror but this looks to be reallly fun. Please bare with me. DDO is pretty new for me so this is even better since I don't know the level 2 + quests. A lot of game play to get used to, for example, You guys had rolled to the party chat and I stayed on the guild chat (DOH!) figured it out as we entered the first quest but you can see I'm still taking it all in. :)

Thanks again for setting this up. It is really fun.

(aka Gror)

05-16-2007, 08:31 AM
Hey everyone, are there still openings in your group? This sounds like fun and I would like to join you all.

05-16-2007, 12:28 PM
Hi PTR91,

Yes there are still openings. We actually have two groups. One on tuesday night and one on thursday night. Both have openings. There are 4 in the thursday group in 5 in the tuesday group. Whichever day you want to play on can accomadate you. Welcome.

05-16-2007, 03:04 PM
Thursdays would be fine with me. I'll be rolling up a Dwarf fighter "Rakers"

05-16-2007, 03:33 PM
Thursday's Group looks to be filling up!.....Glad to have you on board Rakers. See everyone Thursday.

05-16-2007, 04:51 PM

Thanks for posting. Of course you are welcome to join. I will add you to the list of Thursday night players. See you tomorrow.

We are meeting up in the wavecrest on Thursday. We will most likely be starting out unguilded until I can meet up with Thalion on Sivvi to get her officer status.

05-16-2007, 04:55 PM
Correction: It appears Sivvi has been granted officer status already so we can get everyone guilded before we start tomorrow.

05-16-2007, 10:06 PM
Looks like melee won't be a problem for the Thursday night group, so I am going to drop the Paladin idea and go to a full-blooded Cleric - where I am much more comfortable.

Glad to hear that the Tuesday night went well. Look forward to playing with you all tomorrow!

05-18-2007, 07:32 PM
Wow, what a great first night. Shippy, Rakers, Sivvi, and Leonin: thanks! I had a blast. The RP was fun, but we also made great progress. I hope that Devonin's acerbic personality didn't offend anyone out-of-character. Can't wait until next Thursday.

05-18-2007, 11:35 PM
I agree!! Thursday was one of my best experiences with DDO thus far. It was my first time actually RP ingame, and I can’t wait till next Thursday! Thanks everyone for making it a great first time…and remember do yur dwarven stretches before fightin!

05-20-2007, 06:09 PM
Hi all,

Sounds like both groups got off to good starts. Sorry I haven't posted in a while been busy as you all can well imagine. Everything on that end went well (at least as well as it could considering there was a fight at the dinner after the funeral).

I wanted to say I had a great time and that this is going to be a lot of fun. Our group is great and the role play was fun. Looking forward to our next session. Also I got a PM and we may have a 6th joining our tuesday group I am waiting for final confirmation.

05-21-2007, 06:10 PM
Had a great time Thursday night, lookin forward to next Thursday. Thanks everyone for making the group so enjoyable.

P.S. Already starting stretches to get warmed up.

05-22-2007, 10:32 AM
Ready for session two. Last Tuesday was a lot of fun. Much different from the usual grind and loot mongering that is so rampant in DDO. I can actually develope a character story line. That's what was so attractive about DnD in the first place, just I don't have the time/nor patience to play PnP version. See you guys tonight. Are we meeting in the Dinghy or the lobster? (or wavecrest if we get a sixth on board)

05-22-2007, 04:58 PM
We should meet in the Leaky Dinghy, since I suspect that is where we will pick up tonight. Work for everyone in the Tuesday group?

05-22-2007, 06:07 PM
going there right now, see everyone there, I'm gonna do some collectable runs, and inventory cleaning. See ya there.

05-23-2007, 04:58 PM
Both of these groups still have 1 open slot if anyone out there is interested. Currently both parties are level 2.

Interested players can send me an email at ddo_phainen@yahoo.com, in game to either Garmas or Sivvi depending on which group you wish to join, or post in this thread.

05-24-2007, 06:13 PM
So, what is the party makeup for Tuesday's Group? While I understand I can play what I want, i also believe in group balance...but apolgize that I lack the focus required for a cleric. I see I wasn't the only one who had this issue here!

What is the time you meet (and of course list time zone or GMT if need be...I am PDT currently?)

Since you are now 2, is the plan to play catch up or start with a Level 2 character (I play characters not Toons?)

And last but not least, which server are the Tuesday people on? If it's Thelanis or Sarlona, I'm set.

Both of these groups still have 1 open slot if anyone out there is interested. Currently both parties are level 2.

Interested players can send me an email at ddo_phainen@yahoo.com, in game to either Garmas or Sivvi depending on which group you wish to join, or post in this thread.

05-24-2007, 10:16 PM
Hi Query,

The tuesday group list is on the first page, three posts down. If you'd like to join just roll up a character and jump in. Doesn't really matter what you play.

Both groups are on Sarlona.

05-28-2007, 01:50 PM
Hey just sent you an email. I'd like to join Tuesdays group if possible. I put up a dwarven ranger on Sarlona named Gwidyon. I'll try to run the solo quests today to kinda catch up a little. I look forward to the group if the spot is still open.

05-28-2007, 04:44 PM
Hey Tango, I got your email and I've added you to the roster. See you Tuesday.

05-28-2007, 06:52 PM
Thanks, I look forward to it.

05-29-2007, 03:55 PM
Tuesday group,

Last week was great. Looking forward to tonight. First where are we meeting? Second, we are a full group with no cleric. I am a little nervouse about this. As I am the one nervous I will make the suggestion (and sacrafice if needed) should I re-roll strat to go rouge cleric or do you all think between my bardic abilities and glass's palidin we will be ok? Just asking what is best for the group.

05-29-2007, 06:01 PM
Raven I think we will be fine. You can use cure wands as a bard, so can Glass as a paladin. I'm focusing on UMD with my wiz as well and I'm still on the fence about dual classing him as a wizard/cleric. (would be an easier decision if practiced spellcaster were in the game :P )

We aren't the kind of group to zerg, nor do I forsee us doing quests above our capabilities. I think you will see that a tactical, slower group will get by just fine with potions, and light healing.

EDIT: We are meeting in the wayward lobster.

05-30-2007, 01:59 PM
I have been thinking I may take a few lvls of cleric on Hyldr after lvl 3. (i want me fear immunity). How many lvls I am still uncertain. I am still unsure about it though. It would make for some interesting backstory.:D But for now I think we are fine. We go at it a a reasonable pace and only two of us have had to use the shrines so far.

05-30-2007, 06:26 PM
If you think about it. You have Hyldr who will be able to use cure wands as a pally. You have the bard who can heal with sp and use cure wands. You have a ranger who also can use cure wands. And you have Garmas who will be able to start using simple cure wands with UMD soon. That's four out of 6 that can assist with the times we need healing.

Honestly a cleric just isn't necessary.

05-30-2007, 06:46 PM
And with two barbarians dropping everything that gets past the arrows, I'm thinking it is they who need the clerics.:)

Seriously though, I think we are fine as well. Unless the background story and character type appeals to you, you should play what you like and enjoy.

By the way, I really enjoy playing with you folks. It has been a pleasure and a blast. This is definately the way to play DDO.

Thanks again

05-31-2007, 12:55 AM
Honestly a cleric just isn't necessary.

Just kidding. Looking forward to tomorrow night (tonight).

One of the most shocking things about our little clan of Thursday nighters is the use of intelligent tactics and, moreover, the openness to tactical plans. All I had to say was "If we hold them in the doorway, I can summon a magical fog to obscure us..." and everyone was right on top of it. I can't remember the last time a group actually let me use Obscuring Mist (one of my faves for low level when the group is to big to maintain constant buffs on). Same with letting the scouts get ahead a bit, pulling large groups through choke points, and so on. This is the most fun I've had grouping in the longest time.

oh, errr, ummm... Let me rephrase that a bit! :D

A cleric is a fine addition to any party however they tend to be used like crutches and quite frankly the sun will rise tomorrow if a cleric isn't present, just the same as any other class. Better? :P

06-03-2007, 11:16 AM
Yes I agree tatics play a big part in success here. We are starting to get cohesive as a group and that is only going to work better for us. I have decided to take Statevera 2/12 Rouge/bard ( i want evasion) but this should give me the best bardic abilities....seems strat just isn't the low life thief everyone (including me) though he was.

See Ya Tuesday

Perhaps he's changed his tune....:D (sry couldn't resist, and I think I will keep Hyldr a pure paladin, as that seems to fit better.)

Hyldr (Tuesday)
Mitso (Thursday)

Agreed many quests have these choke points and not many players take advantage of them, makes the quests go so much smoother.

06-07-2007, 08:51 AM
Hi guys,
After I logged off on tuesday did you guys do any other quests? If so which ones so that I can get Strat caught up. Thanks!

06-07-2007, 10:10 AM
A few of us headed over to the rusty nail from there. So you should be good. Look forward to next tuesday. I believe Gror is STILL washing cups!

06-07-2007, 10:21 AM
We didn't have much time to start a new quest so we just called it quits shortly after you left Raven. Thought it was best, since Adden wasn't there either. So you should be good to go for next Tues.

Anyhoo, Looking forward to Thursday night group tonight. We meeting in the Lobster?

06-07-2007, 03:26 PM
hey everyone, I might be a little late tonight. daughters 6th grade Graduation, but i will be on as soon as i can. :-)

06-09-2007, 10:45 AM
Hey Guys,

Just found out Strat will be late on tuesday my son has a swim meet at 6:30. I will be on a soon as I can but it will probably be around 8 or so.

06-12-2007, 05:11 PM
Hello Tuesday team,

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you all I won't be able to attend tonight. I have a flood of work that I needed to take home with me.

With that said, you guys are nearly done with the level 2s so take out what you can in that arena. I'll try to catch up during the rest of the week assuming this extra work thing doesn't become a trend.

Hopefully I'll be able to join the Thursday group this week without a hitch.

Sorry Tuesday guys. Wish I could be there. :(

06-12-2007, 11:19 PM
Sorry tuesday group,

My son's swim meet lasted 4 hrs...OMG that was long. Anyway let me know what quests you guys did and consider them done by next week.

06-14-2007, 04:57 PM
Raven, we did 'sunken sewer', "missing in action', and the first of the catacombs. We attempted the second, but with only cure light wands for healing we didn't last long with our current equipment. So we ran Garrison's missing pack again to get Gwid, caught up and to get rid of our xp debts.

So Thursday's group, we still on for tonight?

06-14-2007, 05:10 PM
I'm afraid I won't be able to make Thursday's session either. Two people were just let go in my department at work last Friday, so the unfortunate side effect is I ended up with a lot of extra things on my plate that I'm forced to take home in order to get it all done. And I'm salary so I don't get paid more for my troubles.

This should be the only Thursday I miss as I've been promised the work will be redistributed so it isn't all on my shoulders but Tuesdays are now looking rocky for me due to our Wednesday morning data feeds. I'll spare you all the long, boring explanation of I do. :P

I may have to have someone take over Tuesdays as officer because until we hire on someone else I'm going to be stuck multitasking and picking up some slack. I'll keep you all posted when I know for sure what is happening.

06-14-2007, 05:13 PM
I think thursday's group is almost done with lvl 2 stuff. One or two more catacombs quests and then it goes to lvl 3. Unless we repeat some stuff to kill time.

I may or may not be on tonight as well. There are severe storms headed my way so I may have to abandoned the compy for a while. Sry guys. I will try to be there unless the lightning gets real bad. In that case i may not be able to get on at all. Last storm that passed through, fried my phone lines.

06-14-2007, 07:32 PM
Okay, so here's the story.

While downloading the most recent update about 10 minutes before we were scheduled to start playing Thursday, a circuit breaker tripped in my house. Unfortunately, this corrupted a key data file in my installation which was not preserved in the backup (I tried). End result is that I need to do a full reinstall and then download all of the updates since I bought the game.

Anyways, Leonin was online and ran into Rakers and it looks like no one else was going to show (Glass and Phainen both said they wouldn't be on and Shippy had mentioned not being able to make it). So Rakers and Leonin called it a night and didn't bother to do any questing.

06-19-2007, 08:39 AM
Strat will be MIA again this week as my son has another swim meet tonightand next tuesday I will be out of town on vacation (first in a year so don't begrudge me). Let me know what happens and I will try to catch up.

06-19-2007, 11:56 AM
Unfortunately some real life issues have come up for me as well, My husband and I are canceling our subscription until further notice. I am sorry for the inconvienence this causes, but I figured it would be best to do it now rather than wait till we are all lvl 6 and over. So Hyldr (Tues) and Mitso(lThrs) will no longer be played. It was fun and hopefully we will be able to play sometime in the future. Just don't know when.

Thanks for all the fun.

06-19-2007, 12:32 PM
Sorry to hear you are leaving us. I hope it is only temporary and we see you online again soon. It was great adventuring with you, Hyldr, and I wish you all the best.

Thanks for helping make it fun

aka GROR

06-20-2007, 02:59 PM
Same here. You'll be missed. I too hope it's only temp. Until we meet again...

Well met....

06-20-2007, 05:16 PM
Will miss you Hyldr!

Seems tuesday group has taken a beating. Phainen is MIA (understandably so), with our Paladin and one barbian having issues as well we are dropping like flies. Anyone have a solution other then the obvious. I liked what we were doing and I like Strat.

06-20-2007, 07:59 PM
I'll bump Stratevera to officer status.

The three of you should continue to meet and keep playing, needle the other Tuesday Group if you must ;), set out an LFM "Try our Dedicated Tues RP team" while you wait for Garmas to return. Hopefully you'll meet some friendly like minded people, maybe make some new friends or maybe even a new regular team player!

You can also contact any nongrouped Lightstorm's Dragonslayers guild member - they may have an alt that might be interested in filling in a temporary spot to help you through a quest.

06-21-2007, 03:54 PM
Bye Mitso :( it was fun running with you. Hope to see you agian soon.

06-21-2007, 06:55 PM
I hoping to be there, having trouble logging in.

06-21-2007, 07:15 PM
Sorry it doesn't look like I will be there this evening I keep getting a message saying hardware texture compression support was not detected and game closes. Tech support is working on it.

06-21-2007, 10:20 PM
First off we'll all miss ya Mitso it was great gamming with you, hope to see ya soon.
So we had a great night tonight...we did miss ya Sivvi (more than you'll know..darn traps..lol) But we found a new friend looking for adventure the same as us. her name is Lilsaphire. She is a sorcerer and wanted to join our lil Thursday group. we got her onboard with the Guild, and helped her through some of the harbor quests. we did not do any other advancing from a couple weeks ago, so next week hopefully, we can continue with the Catacombs.

Again great to have you with us Lil...and good job everyone tonight! :)

06-23-2007, 07:42 PM
Hi folks

Tuesday night was almost a bust. Only Gror and Gwidyon made it. We lucked out and some other guild members invited us to join with them. That was pretty cool but challenging (Thanks to those folks, by the way). We had to train up to level 3 to hols our own (everyone else was level 4).

We ventured into tangleroot and did the first 4 chapters of Assault on Splinterskull. When it was all over, Gror had 34.7 K XP and no appetite for spider.:)

As for future Tuesdays, I hope we can press on. It's been a blast adventuring with you folks. If it helps, maybe we can play backup characters next time to help Strat catch up.

Let us know.

06-25-2007, 10:54 AM
Hail and well met!

I lead a dedicated PR group on Sarlona that plays on Tuesday nights at 7 pm CT / 8 pm ET. We’ve lost a few players and I was wondering if you’d like to explore the idea of linking up our groups. We’re all currently level 4 with the following player mix:

Cleric (3) / Ranger (1)
Rogue (3) / Barbarian (1)
Ranger (4) – This player will be away the next 4 weeks
Wizard (4) – A Pacific Time zone player who joins us when they can usually when we’re 30 to 45 minutes in progress.

Let me know what you think.

Hey, I think I felt a twitch in my hand!

06-26-2007, 10:35 AM
hate it when that happens! ;-)

06-26-2007, 04:21 PM
Hi all! I'm a long time pnp player / new DDO player looking for a team to play with regularly. Looking at your posts, it sounds like you guys are doing just what I'd like to be doing. Do you have slots available? I could do either Tuesday or Thursday. Let me know if you're interested. I currently have a 2/1 Cleric/Paladin on Sarlona.

06-26-2007, 04:59 PM
Hi Roanne,

The Tuesday night team has a couple of slots open. I have not heard if everyone can make it tonight but I assume we are playing. If it is not too late of a notice, we usually start at 7 PM CST. My character name is Gror if you want to look for me in the Market area. I'll either be scrubbing pots in the rusty nail or sharpening my axe.

06-27-2007, 11:08 AM
Just to let everyone know. I might be a little late on Thursday. Work is yet again interfering with my DDO time...:) see everyone tomorrow.

06-27-2007, 11:45 AM
We managed to pull a good group together Tuesday night. So Gror and Gwidyon found ourselves out and about once again braving the depths of the Stormreach and Marketplace underworlds. I just wanted to say thanks to those who joined forces with us. I suck at remembering names, in DDO as in real life so forgive me if I don't thank you guys personally. I had a blast and we had some good RP going.

See you guys next Tuesday! 8:00 P.M. EST, my brother Gror and myself will be busy finishing up a fair days work in the Rusty Nail, and perhaps we can see to Marrcus' lost sister.

Thanks everyone!

06-27-2007, 01:40 PM
It was a pleasure to run with the dwarf brothers last night. Marrcus and his big metal friend Omagus had a great time.

We’ll be back again next week and we can see how our various groups are doing players wise. My regular group is definitely down two players and I’ve got one player that will be away for the next three weeks.

07-02-2007, 03:02 PM
With the addition of Lilsaphire, who is catching up to us in levels, the Thursday night group continues to advance apace. We reached level three at long last this past Thursday. However, our poor Dragonmarked rogue has all but disappeared. Has anyone heard anything from Phainen? We are really missing you.

07-02-2007, 03:34 PM
i might join u guys i would probley roll up a rog or a tank and i am good for almost any night so i will leave a post when i get him up and running

Thitank Lv1 WF barbairan

07-02-2007, 05:10 PM
Hello Tuesday night team

Thought I'd drop a post to see how is everyone looking for tomorrow night.

Are we still on for 7 pm CST?

Hope to see everyone in the game

07-03-2007, 02:15 PM
My group will be back again tonight. One of my players who was absent last week will be returning and I might have one more new recruit who will join as well.

07-03-2007, 02:53 PM
Brother Gror,

I will be there with dwarven bells on.

Take Care,

07-03-2007, 05:35 PM
pending a disaster stratevera should be there tonight...lord knows what i've missed though...lol

07-03-2007, 11:33 PM
I had a blast playing with u guys as Hyldr and Mitso. I should be back around September or so, (depending on our financial situation and time schedule) I had started to get bored with DDO till I joined u guys, but real life has a way of pulling u out of fun things. :( anyhoo, when and if I get back I'll give ya a holler, mayber roll up a new character for a new group or something. ( really want to try out monks when they are implemented.) Till then, (my subscription is up as of this friday) have fun.

07-10-2007, 11:18 AM
Hi Tuesday Nighters,

I was the cleric who dropped in two tuesdays ago, and I wanted to say I had a blast. It was one of the best game experiences I've had in DDO. Unfortunately, life intervened last week (like a wrecking ball intervenes), and I couldn't make it. I'm planning on signing in tonight though. Hope to see you guys there.

I know that two weeks ago there was some discussion of adding a caster. Let me know if you'd prefer I run my caster instead of my cleric, and I'll do so. Either way is fine with me.

07-14-2007, 04:50 PM
Allow me to introduce myself. I run two characters in the guild. (currently training them to be of appropriate levels) Both of my characters are currently homeless rogues ~smirks~ but that never lasts long. Thalion and I have discussed this some and we agree that I should float between the groups as they have need until a suitable home is manifest. Weekday nights from 8pm EST on are perfectly fine with me and the easiest way to reach me is through private messages on this forum or through in game messages. These are my alter egos and a little information regarding each:
Aereg - Human Bard lvl 2 (will remain a pure bard)
Larceni - Human Ranger lvl 2 / Rogue lvl 1 (rogue from here up)

Hope to see you all soon, happy adventures!
~Relik Arkane

07-15-2007, 10:30 AM
With Phainen MIA (RL issues) and Thalion having a Great idea.

I have started a New Thread for the Thursday group updating our current Group Members and Levels. Check it out Thursday Persistant Group on Sarlona (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=1241873&posted=1#post1241873)

If we start posting there we can hopefully stop some of the confusion on who has openings between the Tuesday and Thrusday groups, and also seperate some of the questions others have had.

So stop in and say HI! :) , and see ya'll Thursday.
