Here's an idea:
Premium Service - Backdoor Login. On days when the auth servers are down you can pay to get into the game via a backup auth server that runs when the main auth server is down. That way, if you miss the late notice that auth servers will be down you can still play instead of getting upset and looking for other games that tend to be up more during your play time.
Clawstorm, thats a superflous idea. The auth servers don't go down without a reason.
I have seen these exact services through other games. I don't think I'd ever use them, but they are nice options to have.
I would pai for a mule that can be loggd in at the same time as any of your other toons. Also would love it if this mule was an expert at haggle...
Would it be too late to ask for a compromise?
$14.99 for a name change, and an assurance that the change will not affect how that person is dealt with by other persons /squelch lists Also, an assurance that EVERY time a namechange is performed, that a tag is inserted that includes EITHER - The name of the GM performing the namechange, attached with a message, OR a record of the method of payment (with only the last 3 or 4 numbers of the credit card or account number exposed to the GM)
The reason for needing the attached note to each time the name was changed, is because nobody wants to have to pay for a GM changing their name without their consent. If a GM wants to change someones name, then the record needs to be there so that a nefarious GM doesn't just simply insert that they paid for a name change. (surely this would never happen, but a reasonable assurement that this is impossible would be a nice touch)
$9.99 for a guild name change
I think that these prices are more in line, and with the assurance by DEV's that once a person has been squelched, the /squelch action works on a level that is not affected by a persons name change, alot of people will be happier with these premium services.
Can we get an assurance that the /squelch function cannot be circumvented by a simple namechange?
Two words -- Full Respec -- keep tomes, loot, and xp change everything else
Probably would not utilize this service, but dont find the fee excessive or unreasonable.
Thanks
not to be rude, but to me this is a great big "who cares" change
but if someone thinks it's cool, then more power to em
I think once-time charges as opposed to a monthly fee for changes would be preferable to the customer base, but a real marketing(and bookkeeping/budget) nightmare on Turbine's end, thus the monthly fee suggestion.
As often as I see people deleting their characters because they made a Wiz2/Bbn4/Clr6 or something else silly and didn't like the result of the latest changes(and turbine makes a lot of changes), I think a Full Respec is not a bad idea(for a fee in $$$ not PP or items, so Plat Farmers don't make the money, Turbine does). It would of course tear up the DDO ecomony a bit(less veteran lowbie characters) but people would stop troubling over a reroll and losing all their bound items/tomes(used).
As for actual Premium services... offer to Premium users Event Days, that they can log in and get +1 to all loot rolls or +50% Damage to all attacks or +30% XP or whatever the bonus is that day.
We should not pay for a name change.
But a i can understand paying for a server transfer if you offer this option in the futur.
Here's what I would call "premium services"
Bonus Races (before general public access)
Bonus Classes (before general public access)
Prestige Classes (before general public access)
Bonus Spells (before general public access)
Bonus Feats (before general public access)
Bonus Character models to choose from (something other than a standard body style and type)
Titles of Nobility, or Station.
Those are premium services. Things we can show off, if even for a little while, before it's a free access item.
I'd pay $10-$25 as a one-time fee for some of that.
Sincerely,
One huge idea may have been missed is: Server Migration.
I will consider paying for this service as i found the server I currently playing does not match my play time.
Well what you offered so far is nice and all but a little to high priced, also I would like to see a character transfer service like swg, you could pay to transfer your character from one server to another or if you had multiple accounts you could transfer a character from one to another, this would be good for people who have may have more than one account now but want to close one without losing a character they love.
yes I would pay for the server change.
I feel charging for the name and the guild change is a bit lame IMO. I feel that is better left in game only. same with the guild name change.
I also agree with dkohaut about the full respec. nothing stinks more then spending a week trying out a new build on a char and then realizing that it was a waste of time.
I do think that giving people an ingame advantage (i.e. a +1 sword or +30 xp ) if they pay more is unfair. again this is just IMO.
I just found out that an old friend of mine is on a different server, and I'd throw down some green to move my level 12's over to his server. The others are nice, but I don't see them as being terribly necessary. Maybe I'm wrong or out of touch.
Server migrations would be awesome, I've met people on another server and have started a new toon over there, but I would pay to move one or more of my existing charaters over there.
Name change is a nice-to-have. I think I would use in game gold to pay for it, not sure about real world cash. If I did use real world money, then it should include the ability to change the surname too.
I want to say first of all that I do not normally have any beefs with Turbine and how they run things. I am not someone who usually reads the forums, let alone posting.
But I have to say, I was very upset tonight, to put it lightly, when my group had a problem and when we tried to contact a GM we had to wait en extrenuous amount of time, before we finally gave up and broke group.
I realize that there are probably quite a few help requests going on at one time, but I find it very unprofessional for paying customers to spend their entire night sitting at their computer waiting for help that would take all of two minutes.
Like I said, I do not normally get upset about how you guys do things around here, I just enjoy playing the game. But I do not enjoy wasting my small amount of time that I get to play, waiting on a service that I pay for.
I sincerely hope you do not read this and just disregard it, I really hope that you care enough about this to actually attempt to fix the problem. I have been a very happy customer up until recently, and I really hope that I go back to being a happy customer but right now I don't think its worth my $150 to sit on my ass waiting for you guys. Please prove me wrong

If I paid for the premium services would I accually get in game responses for help?
The amount of time I have to wait on Adar is absurd currently have been waiting for 3.5 hours and still no response with ticket number only increasing by 15.
It would seem to me if I were to ignore customers at my job for EXTENDED amounts of time I wouldnt have my job for very long.
So I ask myself if I can't get a halfway decent response time on a ticket that says my party is stuck in this mission why would I spend the money on that?
