Welcome to our 100th DDO Screenshot of the Week! It's been a lot of fun seeing your submissions over the past 100 weeks, and we hope you've enjoyed our weekly spotlight.

This time, you'll be voting on our screenshots! Voting will end at 3pm Eastern on Thursday, November 29th! We're also voting on Facebook and Google+, feel free to cast your votes there as well!

a visually cool image presented in an interesting way

Rule #1. First and foremost, a screenshot of the (time period) needs to look good.

Other factors to consider (bonus points):
Highlights brand new content (helps create more interest thereby promoting sales).
Action! (But remember rule #1. Many of the action shots that have been shots of the week forgot rule #1 (IMO). The biggest success that I recall is "Lightning Bolt!")
Something different than other winning shots. (ever notice that most of the winners are night time pics? While they DO look better, it gets a bit tired.)
It features an oytugh. Haven't seen 1 of these yet. 1st 1 submitted that complies with rule #1 should auto-win.

I think the Demonweb Ice Sun entry is a great example for what I think makes a great screenshot (also my voted-for 'shot).


Basically, the environmental artists for this game are beyond fantastic. And showcasing their work never fails to blow me away. Bonus points for the "Man, I wish I'd created that," factor as well.


Awesome idea for the 100th. Perhaps we could celebrate the 150th with staff-picks of player made shots. :)
The one of the dead player looking up in The Pit still stands out to me as one of the best this series has featured.

My answer: the Colorful, the Unusual, the Striking - images that make you stop and admire the work... or the humor. (nods in direction of the ham!)

Visually stimulating...

Unique...

The best screenshots are well-timed but not rigged. Shots from interesting perspectives that enterprising players can get to ... similar to real life, those that capture the interesting (but maybe rare) normal with a different perspective or at a key time.

I love the ice sun, my vote for sure. but the many foreman reminds of being a yard labour when you feel like you have too many bosses lol

A good screen is when you go WOW at the view and forget that you are in a quest. oops

I feel the best screenshots contain one's guild leader while he is barkskinned, pumpkin-headed, bubble-headed, dancing, and all alone in front of Velah as she begins to use her breath weapon.

What do you think makes a great screenshot?

A screenshot should tell a story, a fairy tale and freeze a moment, as like if the viewer could just press a play button to continue the saga that was told by it, just from that point on with his own imagination and impression he got.

Like in Gargoyles Over Stormreach you could nearly imagine how the light of the lighthouse turns around, or like in Many Foremen how they further proceed through the corridor, or the water light play is continuing in Resting in the King's Forest.
However I vote for Underdark 1 because I could swear I have seen a dragon flew through the back of the scene in a split second where my eyes rested on the glowing mushrooms. ;)
