Why build a chest blesser?

Greetings

Probaly just my ignorance - but why build a chest blesser?

As per a dev post +4 tomes as well as 4 to 5 upgrade tomes drop with equal chance in lvl 27-31 chests - so simply running level 25 quests with a +2 Jewel should suffice - so why the chest blesser?

Is it because you can run without using the Jewel? Is it so you can run lower level quests and still reach 27 with blesser + jewel? Or is there some other great loot that only drop in even higher level chests?

You build one if you love anger and frustration, since most players will either ignore or forget that there is a blesser in the party.

You do get higher loot-gen junk in the chests, but that's it, doesn't effect named items. Not worth the feat cost.

for diversity, flexibility or personal favor. Similar to having a crafting toon. or a caster for farming plat.

I've run with a group that runs EEs with a bard chest blesser. The chest blessing stacks so it would give you a chance to get a tome from a lower level chest. If you run a level 23 quest on hard with a jewel you can't get a +4 or 4 to 5 upgrade. If you bless that chest you can.

I don't know what raising the chest level from 27 to 28 does - if anything at all, but if someone wants to bless the chest I don't mind.

I believe there is another chest loot bonus mechanism that is undocumented or perhaps I just don't know about. This weekend we ran EH partycrashers and did the "Defeat Inkrakos" optional for fun which has two chests. With our +2 jewels and +2 loot bonus for the weekend, it would be a level 25 chest. Yet a +4 tome dropped from it. So perhaps certain optional chests have some sort of built in loot bonus. Otherwise what happened would be impossible based on how the system is definied. We didn't bless the chest.

I made and played one to suit the loot ***** in me.

Hardest part with playing one is getting 5/11 others to wait the 3 seconds it take to bless the chest. And not everyone wants to use the store for loot bonuses.

Quest CR is not a direct relation to the loot level of a chest. They are hand designed and can be higher or lower then the CR of the Quest.

The other two reasons I can do without but thats the really important one to me :)

I believe some bless to have a higher chance to get really high level random loot.

From my observation level 27 chests have a chance to drop +14, +15, or +16 items. With each increased in chest level there is more of a chance of pulling +16 items.

Edit: I spent the weekend farming for +120 (Null,Mag,Glac,Acid) of Major(Necro,Evo,Enchantment) focus (+3 to DC's) preferably on a one hander.

Cuz if it's a bard it truly embraces the piking ability. Sing songs, buff, pike, bless chests. You can always be the first to chests cuz you are invis and have fascinated all the mobs. The chest is yours to bless and loot. Win.

Thanks, at what chest level would you say those +120 +3 DC 1h start to drop?

For the really hard core loot farmers, it would give them a wider range of quests to try to get what they are farming for. With the +2 loot gem they could only do level 25 quests, with the chest blessing it opens up a few more levels and gives you more chests to loot and slightly longer before you're ransacked everything. :)

And some people just enjoy making the extra plat along the way, or find it fun.

Not 100% sure on this but I believe level 27 and up.

iirc, for certain weapon types the best you can get is a really good lootgen weapon. not that you're likely to get it, but it's possible. higher level chest is more likely to have that perfect really awesome lootgen weapon.

additionally, just because it drops in level 27-31 chests doesn't mean the chance is equal for level 27 vs level 31 (though it doesn't mean it isn't equal either... i doubt we'll have enough in-depth testing information to know for sure any time soon).

To get some of the best random loot effects you need to get up to 29-31. Tempestous, Meteoric, Mangling, etc.

I found the feats wasted not worth to have a non english player,one who dont/cant read run and pop the chest. If you see someone "begging" next to a chest , step back but sadly some people dont care.
