One of the major events that has helped shape nations and cultures in Eberron is known as The Last War. While the war took place on another continent, the influence of this event is felt even in Xen’drik.
Across the Thunder sea, on the continent of Khorvaire, five nations were warring for control after the death of a ruler. The conflict lasted for over a century! One of the nations – Cyre – was utterly destroyed by powerful magic so horrible that it turned the country into a wasteland. The event was so terrible that it was henceforth called “The Day of Mourning.” The exact cause of the destruction is still unknown. Shortly after this cataclysm, the warring nations agreed to a ceasefire.
With the war ended, an uneasy peace allowed many developments and cultural advances in the world of Eberron. One of these developments was the freedom of artificial life forms called Warforged from indentured servitude. Warforged are now free to live and work as recognized sentient beings. Another important event was the migration of settlers from Khorvaire to populate the continent of Xen’drik. War refugees, nobles, merchants and more have tried to populate the untamed continent.
