What is Dungeons & Dragons?
D&D® is the game that defines the genre and has set the standard for fantasy roleplaying for more than 30 years.
D&D is an imaginative, social experience that engages players in a rich fantasy world filled with larger-than-life heroes, deadly monsters, and diverse settings.
Players create heroic fantasy characters -- mighty warriors, stealthy rogues, or powerful wizards -- which they guide through an ongoing series of adventures, working together to defeat monsters and other challenges and growing in power, glory, and achievement.
What is D&D 3.5?
The Dungeons & Dragons game was first published in 1974 as three small booklets in a box. In 1978, the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) was published as larger-format hardcover books (the original Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual), followed in 1989 by 2nd edition AD&D.
In 2000, the game shed the "Advanced" from its title and reunified under the name of its birth. Third edition Dungeons & Dragons (sometimes casually referred to as "3E") provided a revitalization and far-reaching revision to the rules system.
